Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

That doesn't suit everyone's preference though, especially if you dislike the Isomotion approach as I do. If you've made the switch to 2K that's cool and all, but please understand that not everyone feels the same way you do and this does remain an NBA Live website, so we're going to do the Wishlists.

Essentials -
- Have game designers read the fan input.. we're not talking just to hear ourselves talk. some of ours "ideas" keep reappearing year after year... maybe, just maybe we have an idea?
- Fix the game mechanics.. quit trying to create some new cool feature before you fix the existing stuff
ex 1. jumping for a rebound and your player goes away from the rim.
ex 2. being able to avoid intential fouls... what player in the NBA just stands there and lets them foul??
ex 3. lay-up and shot attempts hit the back side of the backboard... again, what NBA player does this??
ex 4. realistic game play by the computor.. pg takes the game over for every team. EVERY team.

Things We'd Also Like To See -
- Change Dynasty mode to add Owner/GM elements.
ex 1. Hiring Head Coach. Depending on coach your team would play harder on offense and/or defense, have a change in morale and player happines levels (coach and player may not get allong, reducing players effectivness or willingness to play for team)
ex 2. Coaching contracts.. abiltity to fire them during season or even offer contract extensions. Coaches able to retire or come out of retirement.
ex 3. Team relocation.. pick a city and simulate a vote by the Board of Governors to allow your team to move the following year. if approved have choice of changing team name, logo and/or team colors. allow computor teams to do the same.
ex 4. Add Elements from Madden series... Arena options like food, ticket prices... would add a level some players would love...
ex 5. Add possible Expansion and Expanion Draft. Would Follow Expansion Draft Rules.
- Better realism and more options with player contracts (FREE AGENCY).
ex 1. Restricted team options added to contract negotiations.
ex 2. Team option and player options for following year. (team options on 1st round picks for 3rd year)
ex 3. Early contract termination for players (maybe player will only sign contract with this clause in contract??)
ex 4. Rookie contract scale for 1st Rounders, negotiated contracts for 2nd rounders.
ex 5. Contract extension and abilty to sign your drafted players to new contracts before old contract expires.
ex 6. Add guaranteed and non-guaranteed contracts.
ex 7. Player refusing to resign with your team.. your team has loosing recored, no PT, wanting to play for favorite team/Home team, etc...
- Better Draft realism and with signing or not signing drafted players.
ex 1. "MOCK DRAFT" changes with team needs and/or player improvement/decrease.
- - - NIT or Tourny exposure may boost/deflate ranking, player may get injured or take name out of draft for numerous reasons.. stay in college/stay overseas...
ex 2. Ability to draft over your roster availablity (must have down to 15 before summer league)
ex 3. "Holding" rights to sign later (Manu Ginobili), doesn't count towards your roster unless signed. Player may improve or decrease ablities... would play in minor leagues, D-League and or over-seas. be able to watch progress and sign whenever.
ex 4. Add possible player hold outs (Fran Vasquez) and/or draftee demand trade (Mike Bibby and Danny Ferry) hold out may change mind about signing with your team (Arvydas Sabonis) or may want trade at a later time because playing opurtunities (Luis Scola and Juan Carlos Navaro)
ex 5. Allow trades before and during draft and ability to "BUY" picks. Trades could use any combination or player(s) and picks for same
ex 6. Pre-arranged trades.. Computor team offers you player(s) and/or draft pick(s) to draft player for them. possible for CPU to CPU teams to arrange this also. You can offer same to computor..
ex 7. Have time restriction on picks. 5 minutes during 1st round, 2 in 2nd round.
ex 8. Ability to waive non signed draftees rights any time during off season
- Realistic Summer and Off Season options.. extra players, summer leagues...
ex 1. Sign undrafted F/A's and F/A's with 3 yrs or less exp to summer contract and compete in summer league.. these would be non-guaranteed contracts. Ability to re-nogiate contract after summer league
ex 2. Summer League roster can have more than 15 players.
ex 3. Newly Signed draft picks and low lvl players (less then 4 yrs exp) would play in summer league.
ex 4. Add possiblity of injuries, maybe during summer league or internation play for overseas players
ex 5. wider range of injuries (minor and major). Have some injuries be season ending type. Season ending injury would give you an INJURY EXCEPTION.
ex 6. Add Deadline for season roster (minimum 13 and maximum 15)
ex 7. Have random Pre-Season games played in Foreign Countries (NBA EUROPE LIVE)
- More Options and Realism During Season.. Suspension, disgruntled players, D-League, etc..
ex 1. Add Volitivity Level to players (Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, Rasheed Wallace, Josh Howard as examples) Does not neet to be shown during game except maybe arguments with refs. this would generate a Technical Foul. This would not be a malicious type of foul, so should be included to create more realism. Understandably any fouls showing hamfull intent is a touchy subject. Insedental random "HARD" fouls should incure a Flagrant. UNDER NO WAY should a player be able to call up a flagrant or technical, NO WAY.
ex 2. Players should miss random game(s) for personal reasons. (Barbosa and O'Neal both have missed games this season for family reasons)
ex 3. Add D-League.. players with 2 or less yrs of experience eligable to be assigned to D-League affiliate. Players will have small chance of improving. Assignment rules would be followed.
ex 4. Allow call-ups from D-League and 10-day contracts from F/A pool and D-League.. 10-day contract rules would be followed.
ex 5. F/A's and Undrafted players drafted to D-League.. D-League players scouted by teams.

i hope i am not asking too much...
1. can we have a more effective way of stealing the ball? as i observed most of the time when i tried to steal, it backfires to me and receive a foul instead. unlike nba live 08, stealing the ball is more easier.
2. about lock on defense, does someone here find it too hard like me? or double-teaming is much better now?
3. can we have a thread here for video tutorials how to paly defense and offense in PS3? i noticed most of the video tutorials posted in other sites are for xbox360.

A contribution to make - Rookies or players with lesser years of experience may not be getting sufficent playing time in the beginning when they enter/play in the league. Perhaps when they do get quality playing time, the AI can recognize this and add to their level of experience. e.g If one of the regular starters is injured and out for a few weeks, the coach may decide to use a less experienced player to start and this could improve his skills level with more exposure. (Case in point, Andrew Bynum playing for the injured Kwame Brown before he was eventually traded to Memphis as part of the deal for Gasol).

i hope in nba live 2010 we can pass the ball to five player selection on the team practice stadium during loading and idle not the current setup in nba live 09 wherein you can practice shooting only by your current selected player thru settings. (i hope you get what i mean)

this hit me while i am playing nba2k8... on their practice stadium i can use the other members of the team (user select favorite team) thru passing the ball to them then start shooting. why EA lock us users on one player only to practice (nba live 09) and i can't pass the ball to other team members? i need to enter academy first just to practice my whole team and run some plays.

this may be a little adjustment but it will be nicer if EA will provide an option for the user to select where we (users) want to put the scoreboard say... top corner left, top corner right, top center,bottom corner left, bottom corner right and bottom center. perhaps, i will be more than happy if EA can update it right now in nba live 09.

Things We'd Also Like To See -
More Options for Create-a-Player/Edit Player.. bring back some previous options..
ex 1. being able to lock/unlock weight to body build type ... some players just don't have the right body build in the game, like Paul Millsap.. or Greg Oden. They need to remember muslce ways more than fat.. LeBron really weighs 274 lbs(officialy listed at 250) and is 6'8", he has extremly low body fat percentage so looks to be 240ish... (he appears thinner)
ex 2. Camera compatability would be usefull for users to create themselves.. a little thing but would be great fun!
ex 3. more hair and facial hair options.. you should be able to recreate any players looks when creating a player...
ex 3. more options on gear... really do we need so many shoes, when we somehow lost an arm sleeve? the full arm sleeve is on a lot of players from Allen Iverson to C.J. Watson
ex 4. have different gear sets... (Vince Carter sometimes wears an arm sleeve) if player has two gear sets, games would be random between the two... if 3 sets..etc. you can even have gear sets generate depending on injuries, just as in real life a knee injury would have a player wearing a knee brace for a while (Jermaine O'Neal wears his permanatly now..)
ex 5. in the idea of gear sets, have the same for hair/headbands. Al Thornton doesn't always wear a headband, and Delonte West doesn't always have cornrows.. or even eliminate types of gear based on coaches... (Nate McMillan and Scott Skiles don't let players wear headbands)
ex 6. Retired numbers should be allowed to be used on teams... even OKC (numbers not actually retired with OKC, they just won't issue any numers retired by Seattle)
ex 7. Choosing the College should be easier.. Bring back abiltity to directly go to the first letter of the College instead of having to go all the way through the alphabet to say... Washington..or Wisconsin.. If College not listed have way to type it in...
ex 8. list primacy as a changeable rating... we are all tired of having the wrong player suddenly be the focus on offense
ex 9. bring back superstar player type... just don't make it so good, that way they can't be abused... maybe even make a few other types like crunch time type - key abilities would improve during the final minutes of close games

I have some other ideas but will group them together before posting.

do we have pop-up video update of a sideline reporter in nba live 09? (it pops-up and gives small screen at the bottom wherein the sideline reporter is talking about the status of the injured player during the current game, and appears only if someone got injured during the game or better if there is an existing injured player on the teams that are playing that is suited to play on their next game) if not... perhaps EA can include this feature in nba live 2010?

No, that feature doesn't currently exist. It would certainly add to the presentation but there's other things I'd rather see before that, presentation included. It would definitely be nice for the atmosphere though.

Yeah, The double screen thing would be crazy!!! I'm sure they are working on better presentation, I remember Brian saying something like that before 09 came out

That's a lot easier said than done because of the differences year to year. As I said in the other thread, NBA Live 09 has introduced a lot of new features the most prominent one that is roster related being Player DNA. It's not going to be backwards compatible with NBA Live 08. The roster files for each game won't work for the other, so there's no need to share them between the two.

They should really bring back the touch passing!! Or have the ability to quick pass. Sometimes it takes awhile for players to pass the ball to an open teammate

Tweaking the directional passing to make it more effective would probably help in that regard.

Things to fix:

- IR problem - players who go on the IR, even when healed, don't return to the roster.
- Fast breaks - CPU rarely fast breaks. On some FB opportunities guys with a clear path to the basket stop at the three point line. Fix this without breaking the currently excellent half court game.

If you want the CPu to fastbreak, you have to turn up Fast break anticipation by +10 for each team, and turn the game speed up. Trust me, computer will whip the ball the down the court lol!!!

Also, I was thinking they should put in more, "after" animations, like after a dunk through a crowd or fast break, players should fall down or lose their balance. Sometimes they dunk and they just stand up, then turn, it's not realistic, the more momentum a player has going to the rim, he should be unbalanced. If even when you get caught at out of position jumping into a jumpshooter, there should be animations where both player fall down.

Basically, more falling down animations, NBA live players are on their feet too much. Especially after HARD collisions

Good idea. It could also facilitate fast breaks and 5 on 4 situations if you inbound and push the ball up court quickly enough while they're still recovering.

Every discussion of a broken current feature turns into a discussion of new fluff features like falling down.

The fast breaks are broken in that players often pull up at the three point line even when there's no defender between them and the basket. Some EA producers/developers have said it's a problem, and it will be fixed for 2010.

YEah, u can't even throw lobs on fast breaks, I get mad and yell, why don't you go to the basket. Messin up my possible highlight.
