This is a roster I have started creating, using Young_Raic1's "2013-2014 NBA 2k14" as a base, will eventually be an accurate representation of the 2013-2014 season. My goal is to make a roster that not only plays in QuickPlay, but can also be used in MyGM or MyLeague. Currently ~54% complete.

Why 2014? Just because that is 10 seasons ago, and Shobe hasn't put out the 1996-97 season yet for 2k24.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changelog: 2/23/2024

----Tweaks-----
76rs ratings
Bucks ratings
Bulls ratings
Calvs ratings

Most notable tweaks:

1) Set Giannis to a 74. He was very raw coming out of the Euro League. He was definitely a project for the Bucks. I set him with good enough Physicals and a 98 Potential. I tried to ensure that he gets to that by giving him a gold HWE Badge.

2) I lowered Kyrie's Intangiables because he hogs the ball. I also made it impossible to deal with him in the locker room, hopefully. He has an unpredictable personality, while being extremely confident, and being finance savvy. He still should look beautiful on the court, but should be a headcase in MyGM and MyLeague.

----Added Players----

Caveliers:
C.J. Miles
Jarrett Jack
Alonzo Gee

Some notes:
1) Alonzo Gee actually has his cyberface now and he is no longer a filler player on every team. I was getting annoyed playing against 50 of him throughout the decade.

2) C.J Miles comes with a Longsleeve shirt if you are not using the accessories mod as he sometimes wore an undershirt in games.

3) C.J. Miles is WAAAY better than I expected IRL. A 3&D Wing who can drive! Looking at his ratings in 2k14, they did this man dirty. He had a 71 ovr, but IRL, he was putting up a +7 on/off and a +2.4 BPM (league average = +/-0). I listed him as a SG because that's where the Calvs played him 60% of the time that season, so he is listed as a 79, but you can slide him to SF as that is what he was in 2K14, and he will be an 80.

-----Update on the State of the Roster----

I totally didn't expect ANYONE to see this, so sorry that I haven't been able to do much with it- I am just working on this in my off time and I am now sick, so I have time to work on it. Each player takes about an hour to get the stats, vitals, contract, signature, etc. But now I see it's getting 1 or more download a day, I will try to work on it more and get something "simable" out. I will reduce my goal of 14 players per team to 12 so that I can actually do it in a manageable time. Once each team has 12 players, I will work on the Staff, which clearly can't be as accurate, but is definitely more of a feel thing, so that should go quick. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

While I work on this roster, I am using it in simulations to make sure all the players play/sim correctly through the first season and that some of the better rookies (e.g. Giannis and Kyrie) get to a rating I am happy with in progression. Kyrie gets there 100% of the time as of now, and Giannis is 50%. I am still toying with the MyLeague Settings for progression. It has to do with the progression settings and stats the player puts up every year, so it is hard for Giannis to progress being so poorly. I will come out with this as soon as I can. I know they aren't as flashy, but I am WAAAY closer on getting those done.

I will also contain what I view as more accurate trading and contract negotiation that you won't have to worry about the inflation pricing you out of a roster. I like where these two aspects are at now, and I don't expect much to change in terms of the trade settings. The contract sliders will probably change, however, because the next year, the cost of every player skyrockets. It doesn't make the game impossible, but it is noticeable. I also hope to make the simlulation harder.

Simming also gives me a chance to toy with the different draft classes. I am messing with 2014-2024. After the college season wraps, I typically make my own draft class for the next year, I think this year will be no different. I am not a scout, but it is fun to do.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----My Logic-----

I created this roster referencing Basketball Reference, 2K14's official Roster, HoopsHype.com, and spotrac.com. Also, a huge thanks to Looyh for the 2K24 Roster Editor and Player Editor+ for making the accuracy in contracts and player faces as possible as they are.

I have a stats-driven approach to creating the roster and players' ratings. So, while these things may not be finalized now, a couple examples where this will show will be pre-2022 Russ and any-aged Kyrie. These guys will not have as high of a rating as you may like, but my goal is for their stats to still be reflected in simulation and for you to be able to control and play them as they are. So by the 2016 and 2017 season, when Russ doesn't have KD, he should still output the same stats they did in real life (provided the progression works), but may not have the biggest impact on winning. This sort of impact will show up in all players' intagibles rating. So feel free to adjust intangibles (or anything really) as you see fit.

I view intangibles as so:

----25-34: Bad----

Even if they are putting out big numbers, they are not affecting winning for the team, and in theory, if they have a high rating, drag the team down. This may drop a player from a 92 to an 86 in extreme cases. Think 2016-2018 Russ. Great to the eye and Traditional Box Score, but his teams were not making it out of the first or second round without KD next to him. He just holds onto the ball too much. Other Players may be the same era Demar, Bol Bol, Tacko Fall. These guys just won't help in Sim, but when you play them, you can still pull great things off.

----35-66: Neutral to Mediocre----
I view players in this category as "what you see is what you get." They aren't going to drag the team down, per se, but they will give a 1-to-1 boost to the team based off of stats. Near the bottom would be current Chris Paul. He holds the ball too long and you only get one action off the pass.

Think of Luka near the middle. Great with the Eye Test, but not so much in +/- or on/off (really, look it up; his team doesn't drop off when he leaves the floor). He's just too much of a Ball-Stopper and doesn't score enough off ball. They will have a more "raw" rating since this won't give them a bump or nerf. Other players are KAT, CURRENT Ant (He will probably move up in the future).

A Player near the top of this is Di'Angelo Russel 2021-now because of his deffensive communication- he may not be good at defense himself, but he's like a floor general on D.

----67-78: Good----
Any Player in here should give a team a nice boost in simulation. Playing them, you may not be able to affect the game as much as they do in the simulation modes. But they will be a good value add to your team if you are simulating. Think current Russ, Naz Reed, or even some superstars like Donovan Mitchell.

----79-90: Effective----
These are the kind of players we think of as valuable. Even if they don't pass the eye test, they are still affecting the game/sim with good decision making and plays. You will see a correlation with my creation with their IQ ratings.

----90+: Great----
These players play bigger than their raw rating suggests. These are going to be your guys IRL who "just move the needle" for a team in the +/- or Box +/-.

Non-Superstars would be Jrue Holiday, Draymond Green, Derrick White. These guys will have a higher rating than the eye test or Box would suggest. None of these guys are scorers, but they all make the team way better. Near the "bottom;" Draymond can defend all 5 positions, even now. Sure he needs to be arounda really good shooter like Steph to be useful on offense, but he's a really good floor general. He knows where everyone on his offense needs to be. Near the top is Jrue. I can rant forever about his feel for the game. He just knows how to always make the "right" play and play great D from 1 to 5. Jrue is like a smaller, less problamatic Draymond. Honestly, if Dray wasn't a god on D, he would be around a 50 or lower.

You also see your High Tier MVPs (e.g. Jokic, Lebron, and Steph) and GOATS (e.g MJ, Kareem, Russel). These guys will combine Skill with IQ, good tendencies. I really don't know if I need to say more than look at Jokic. His BPM is +13.7 this season so far. That's GOAT level influence over the game. All of these guys can do that.
