Done.

Pdub wrote:Can we move the post subject to the right so when I am trying to read the thread I don't have to look at "Re: NLSC Forum Back Online" above every post? Maybe centering it would make threads easier to read, or even getting rid of it for every post especially if it's just a "Re."

I agree, it doesn't seem to be an issue with "Post Reply" since you can choose not to enter a subject but the Quick Reply automatically places a "Re:" subject. I'll see if I can disable it, if not it would probably be best to remove it completely since it's rarely used in replies.

cyanide wrote:I like the change, but Trebuchet does not read well as compared to Verdana. I'm sure there a way to move the avatars/post info to the left, because it's not easier to spot posters if they're displayed on the right (we read from left to right...)

I definitely have to update the stylesheets. I agree that poster info on the left looks better, I'll have a go at switching that around today.

If only there was a "by: [poster name]" above the post.

I actually like it on the right. I hate avatars and irrelevant user info in the primary position. The posts are the most important thing, they should be first.

Hey guy, you shut your whore mouth.

As you can probably see, I've made the switch (if not, you've got the old files cached in your browser). Still some tweaks to make but hopefully when we're done you'll find the updated Forum more visually pleasing as well as enjoying all the new features and functions. :)

Joe you ass.

No need to guess in what category I'll be in Joe's list.

I was thinking of adding Jacky and Drexy to my "Friends" but I'd rather not because I want to be more than friends with them. :|

Request: Bring back the feature when clicking a link a new window/tab will open instead of using the current window to go to the link. I never changed my browser settings and I also checked it, it's still the same settings before the forum upgrade.

I don't want to waste time right-clicking the link and clicking to open it in a new window/tab. I'm sure cyanide doesn't want such a waste of mouse clicking time. :P

Maybe he can change it to a friends or hoes list.

Hold Ctrl for a new tab, Shift for a new window you lazy ass.

The "special friends" list, of course... :cheeky:

But it's still a waste of time by doing unecessary keyboard strokes[/cyanide] as compared to the old way of just clicking a link and then boom, a new window/tab opens.

The avatar is the poster, and we generally ignore that but know it's there so we don't have to bother reading a "by <poster name>." I agree the posts are the most important thing, but I think it's more overwhelming for most of us to see text-only and I believe a lot of posters don't bother reading every single post by every single individual :P

Whatchoo talkin' about Willis? I support keyboard shortcuts, and I hate having new tabs open unless I want it to (cmd-click, or in your case, ctrl-click). Lazy ass.

Re: NLSC Forum Back Online

Mon Nov 17, 2008 4:36 am

It's not really a keyboard shortcut because it doesn't shorten anything but adds up a keystroke to a one click. Clicking the link is faster than adding ctrl/cmd and clicking the mouse, also the opening up of a new window/tab is preferable than losing the current session in the present window in going to the link.

And you consider yourself an advocate of usability. :shake:

Middle click on links.
I'm really liking the new "friends and foes" feature, I know for a fact it'll come in handy sooner or later.

I think we should turn off the "foes" list.

Re: NLSC Forum Back Online

Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:05 am

Why? Some people might want to ignore posts from other users. It's a request that's been made in the past.

Re: NLSC Forum Back Online

Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:13 am

Sorry, couldn't read that. You're on my ignore list. Could someone quote Andrew so I can see what he posted?

We already have enough people not reading posts...we don't need to promote more of this. I'm probably going to have a stroke from repeating myself since everyone is putting me on their list as we speak.

It's not like you can JUST NOT READ posts of people. Or CHOOSE NOT TO RESPOND. Ignore lists are for the petty and weak.

And that's why anyone who disagrees with me is going on it.

It's the same amount of time because chances are, your finger's already on the cmd/ctrl key by the time you got your mouse cursor over to the link. This is better usability because it allows you the choice of whether you want to browse in the current window, or open the link in a new tab.

BAM.

Re: NLSC Forum Back Online

Or you could just middle click.

That's what I do. It's easier than Cmd-Click and I find it a better option than having a tab/window opened every time I click on a link...

Not that it should matter, but I don't really like visiting the forum as regularly because it's a chore to distinguish between new posts, read posts and all the other icons in regards to posts.

Are there plans on modifying the skin or atleast those icons? Just a question by the way, not attacking the layout/change/move whatever. It's not a threat that I'll visit less frequently if it isn't changed because honestly, no one will lose out on that.

It's just a general wondering question...nothing more.

I think we are planning on adding a layout that looks very familiar to the last one we had. It would be an option in your user control panel.

I am still extremely confused when I browse the boards. I don't know how long it will be till I get used to this.

I wasn't aware the prosilver design was so unappealing. New posts have icons that are lit up red, read posts use blue icons. I would have thought that would be fairly easy to distinguish, though I realise the icons are a bit different. I'd like to add some more skins and hopefully we can modify subsilver2 to resemble our edit of subsilver in the phpBB2 forum, unfortunately Andreas is the one who does a lot of design work for the site and he's on a leave of absence to take care of some private matters.

DoobieKnicks wrote:I am still extremely confused when I browse the boards. I don't know how long it will be till I get used to this.

What's confusing about it? Maybe I can do something about it, but the layout is actually very similar to how it was before, give or take a few functions and of course some new icons.

I'm already completely used to it, I guess it was mostly having the user info/avatar on the right side that was confusing me at first, but now it's all good.
