A combination of Ben's sliders and changing each teams offensive strategy to match what they do in reallife make for an awesome game of Live.

These are the results of my game with the Spurs @ home vs. the Nets

Code: Select all
Nets                  Spurs
 68        score        81
 16    bench scoring    29
29/75   field goals   29/69
0.387   field goal%   0.420
 6/19    3 point FG    3/8
0.316    3 point %    0.375
 3/4    Free Throws   20/20
0.750   Free Throw%   1.000
 36        rebounds     42
  0     off. rebounds    2
 36     def. Rebounds   40
  6        blocks        7
  1        steals        1
 12        assists      19
  4       turnovers      3
 16         fouls        3

Player Of The Game:
Code: Select all
Tim Duncan #21
points  rebounds  assists   blocks
  15       11        4        3

By the way, Ben said that if you are having trouble shooting and the CPU isn't hitting anything then up the short-medium-long by 10.

Only problems I see with those results are the lack of offensive rebounds and the difference in fouls/free throws.

I'm going to try out Ben's sliders and see how that goes and then I'll post my results.

Using Ben's sliders, I played two games at 7 mins on All-Star using set offenses for each team, switching them at halftime.

I was NY and Dallas.

Made a topic on this already, but since it got locked (my bad :P) ill repost the info here.

Rate these:

Global Sliders:

Adjusted Shot Frequency: 43
On-Ball Physical Defense: 40
Poor Release %: 44
Double Team: 38

Now remember these are for superstar level, if you try these on all-star the game might get way too easy.

I play 6 mins quarter and i tend to get low scores, they might work better on a 8 or maybe even 10 min per quarter setting, but i seriously dont have the time.

anyways, on to game stats.

Entire Game Utah Phoenix

Points 72 70
Bench Scoring 18 13
Field Goals 31/66 30/67
Field Goal % .470 .448
3 Point FG 3/9 5/19
3 Point % .333 .263
Free Throws 7/18 5/10
Free Throw % .389 .500
Rebounds 32 38
Off. Rebounds 2 5
Def. Rebounds 30 33
Blocks 6 4
Steals 0 2
Assists 15 14
Turnovers 3 9
Fouls 7 20

the huge diff on fouls is because by the end of the last quarter the cpu (i was the jazz) was trailing by 10 and started sending me to the line...which iwas seriously sucking at btw

anyways, would be good if you people tried these out and gave me your input on em.

@Zen
How many minutes to you chose for computer simulated games, when you are playing 6 minute quarters?

guys, i recently reset my speed ratings to about 55, faster.

i noticed that with higher speeds, and with offensive plays set, they will actually move and run to their positions like in real life. ball rotation will be more fluid this way.

just a suggestion.

The cpu fast breaks all the time, and in the halfcourt they run no plays, just hop step floater in the lane.

I really like how I play, I get scores between 60-70 on all-star, but that's probably because I rarely go below 10 on the shot clock if you take longer to set up a play it would get pretty realistic. I'll be posting them here later. Possibly tonight, possibly tomorrow.

I've been playing with Ben Bailey's sliders and getting fairly realistic stats, but two things are driving me crazy, and starting to take the fun out of the game:

1. Perimeter shots being blocked. I've reduced the CPU shot block to 0, but unless I'm completely wide open I get blocked. Kirilenko had 7 blocks against me. I can't get off any semi-contested shots and it's making me start to rely too much on the pro hop, which inflates my shooting percent. I've tried to reduce the CPU on-ball physical defence, but that also makes the game too easy.

2. The CPU is taking way more shots than I am. Part of this goes back to my problem with perimeter shots being blocked. I can usually stop the fast break, but not when it's a mid or long range shot being blocked and then taken to the basket by the defender. When I'm on a fast break the CPU can easily catch up to me, but not when I'm trying to catch up to them. The CPU FG% is still realistic, but it gets frustrating when I'm trying to run an offensive play but the CPU keeps jacking up shots like they are the Mavericks.

Help? Suggestions? Criticisms?

cpu jump shots in play 2

Postby Xavi on Wed Nov 19, 2003 4:16 am

I've edited all ratings for superstar 12 min quarters and the game is like the real live but the cpu doesn't makes jump shots. It's always dribling to the basket or shooting on 3 despite i'm editing cpu options like midle range shots, long range shots, near shots and lay ups percentage and dunks percentage. With this problem the game is no real i don't underestant how ea sports make this mistake that don't happens other years, for example in nba 2003 play 1. Surely you have the same problem. Have anyone worked on it and finded the solution? If is this tell me please.

I don't have pc game yet but i hope it doesn't happens, and if happens we are able to repair it whit avantages of pc.
Is this the same on the pc ?

Thank you all.

I have used Ben Baileys sliders, Allstar, 12 Minute quarter. Hornets vs. Nets ... here are the stats.

Code: Select all
Entire Game         New Jersey       New Orleans

Points              119              83
Bench Scoring       31               26
Field Goals         49/100           34/120
Field Goal %        .490             .283
3 Point FG          7/28             4/38
3 Point %           .250             .105
Free Throws         14/22            11/18
Free Throw %        .636             .611
Rebounds            75               63
Off. Rebounds       2                14
Def. Rebounds       73               49
Blocks              4                7
Steals              3                9
Assists             23               19
Turnovers           20               13
Fouls               13               18

I had a good first quarter ... leading 26 to 20, but the percentage from the field was awful low at 31 %. Second quarter was just poor ... I wasnt able to hit anything. Late in the fourth they pulled away another 10 points. I wasnt able to hit any shot for a long time, this is kinda frustrating. I have to rely on 3s cause I wont get to the basket or hit a jumper. Well .. I'll try on ...

are those 3pt attempts correct? i mean 28 for one team and 38 for the other team.

i know that baron davis will shoot alot of 3's but damn!

i played a game a few hours ago on default all star as the magic vs. the hornets and baron davis went 5/8 from long distance. i have now come to the conclusion that i don't need to adjust sliders. i just need to adjust the teams offensive strategy to whatever they play in real life. my man KDRE over at os is putting together the list for the console gamers and he has 24 of the 29 teams done.

i just finished another game as my beloved bulls @ home vs. the mavs and won 92-83. they had an 11 point lead several times during the game. hell, they lead by 11 to start the 4th quarter. i went on a 21-2 run in the 4th to get the w.

man i love this game!

Yeah thats correct ... I played the Hornets, so that 38 aren't anywere near realistic :D. It is just when I cant get to the basket, I try to shoot the 3 ... usually it wont work.

Here are the team stats for a game I played - LAL @ SEA, 12 mins qtr, superstar. I was Seattle. I think the stats are OK, though I lost by 23, but hey - these are the new Lakers. :)

Entire Game LA Lakers Seattle

Points 120 97
Bench Scoring 33 21
Field Goals 51/103 39/97
Field Goal % .495 .402
3 Point FG 11/29 6/19
3 Point % .379 .316
Free Throws 7/7 13/17
Free Throw % 1.000 .765
Rebounds 58 44
Off. Rebounds 5 6
Def. Rebounds 53 38
Blocks 7 10
Steals 7 3
Assists 23 24
Turnovers 20 14
Fouls 14 7

I didn't use pro hop a lot and I'm happy with the defense I played against Shaq. He scored only 13 pts, on 6-13 shooting. But I put double-team on him and high pressure. The guy that killed me was Payton with 29 pts (12-25, 4-8 on 3-pts) and 7 assists. My best player was Ray Allen shooting 10-16 (2-5 3-pts) and I think he had 25 or 26 pts, and 6 assists. I took my time on offense, didn't rush it and got back on deffense as fast as I could. You can play some good defense in this game, it's great. The difference in the game was the FG%.
About the sliders I used - these are the only ones I changed (the others are by default):

GLOBAL
Game Speed: 45
Fatigue Effect: 50

CPU
Substitution: 50
Medium Range %: 45
Long Range %: 40

In TEAM STRATEGY I turned off CRASH BOARDS for my team and tried some different types of defenses and offenses during the game.
As you see I made minimum changes. I plan to make some more minor changes and see what will happen. Thsi was my 5th game since I got the PC version...WOW - Ben Wallace just hit a turnaround J against Shaq (watching NBA on ESPN at home as I type this) :)...hmm, back to the topic - I guess as I learn the game, and learn to play better defense, the scores and the results will be better.
For now this is a great game.

Is there a way to save the sliders? Everytime I start the game they are set back to the default settings.

midle range jump shots

Postby Xavi on Thu Nov 20, 2003 2:28 am

Your stats looks great but is cpu making midle range jump shots (4,5,6
meters when you don't make pressure and you have people defending the paint ?
This is the key i think, and the bigest problem of this game.
