My take on Speech for missing players w/ samples

Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:01 am

Hello, everybody,

This is my first post here, but I've been secretly reading these forums for quite a long time. I can't create cyberfaces, jerseys or anything picture related, but I've become quite creative regarding speech files.

I'd like you to check this .rar file, which contains some samples of my work. I'm very picky with the quality of the files, so that prohibits me of adding some players (Bargnani, for instance, can't be done unless it sounds awful, so I'd rather have him mentioned by his jersey).

Basically, I'm trying to create files that can actually be part of the game without being noticed that they are clearly a custom add-on. Sometimes, the file can't be distinguished from the original ones (e.g., Michael Beasley). In other cases, you can pinpoint some imperfection (e.g., LaMarcus Aldridge), but with the arena reverb and all, I think you can tolerate that. However, I won't create a Bargnani that will sound undoubtedly awful as there isn't enough material to extract that name in a pleasant way.

Here you'll find some rookies (Beasley, Weaver, Robin Lopez), some Free Agents (Schenscher), and some missing players with 1 year or more of NBA experience (Jamario Moon, Ager).

Tell me what you think, and if they are worth it. Of course, I have created more files than these samples (even some retro players), but I would like some feedback. This could be a part of the NBA Live PC Project if someone is interested. Besides, that project is particularly attractive to me because of the speech modding possibilities, a feature that has been lost since Live 07.

very nicely done, IMO keep it up and we can use as much of these as possible for the project.

I think the easiest way to do this will be to use the PS2 files, since they are most likely extractable with the current tools, we can export missing players audio files and convert them for use with 06, importing them with Audy 06. We should be bale to do this for both play by play speech, and arena speech.

This is an entire project on it's own, and it would definitely cut down the time it takes to try and create missing players audio files.

Awesome work, mate. No audio for players is my biggest bugbear with Live so thanks for what you are doing.

what pdub said is true, we are going to be attempting to snatch the audios from 09 but imo keep going because there are no guarantees with that

What do you mean by "extractable with the current tools"? Are there tools that can help us extract sounds from the PS2 version? I'm not aware of them, if that's the case.

can put the Live 08 PA speech in 06?
Live 08 PA speech are great, especially when the players do the dunks,.
unlike 06, most are normal PA speech even when the players do the dunks.

check ben gordon, luol deng...etc.

i think this is because speech resources in 06 is very limited... if you check the speeches available, some players only have to kinds of speech (the normal and the excited or the normal and the slightly excited or any combination of the 3)

=)
