My Indiana Pacers Dynasty

Postby Morzikei on Thu Aug 07, 2008 7:20 am

Well, it's night and I don't have my PS2 now, so just the roster and some info for now. Selected the team long ago because of Jasikevicius, played perhaps 14 games before losing (at home to the Bucks right after beating them in Milwaukee), switched from Starter to AllStar, had some difficulties (and a nice 66-120 game with the Bulls), but one signing and one trade prolonged my interest after a long hiatus, and I'm playing everyday now.

My current roster; Team Rating ~84:

C 14 Mehmet Okur 75 (Inside Scorer)
PF 7 Jermaine O'Neal 86 (Power, *Inside Scorer, *Blocker)
SF 8 Stephen Jackson 74
SG 15 Mike Miller 73 (Shooter)
PG 6 Ronald Murray 69

C 10 Antonio Davis 68
C 12 Patrick O'Bryant 62 (1st Draft Pick)
PF 9 Danny Granger 77
SF 4 Luke Walton 69
SG 11 Jackie Ward 61(2nd Draft Pick, Fake, Highflyer)
PG 13 Sarunas Jasikevicius 68
PG 5 Jarrett Jack 65

Notable (ones I can remember) trades:

Jamaal Tinsley 72 -> <- Mike Miller 73 (Was looking for a sharpshooter)
David Harrison 65 -> <- PJ Tucker 61 (Needed something different)
Jeff Foster 65, Lee Nailon 58 -> <- Mehmet Okur 75 (Great trade, Okur scored 30 points in debut game, and got lost of the pathetic white C that cost me 5M)
Darrell Armstrong 68(Outside Stopper) -> <- Ronald Murray 69 (a step towards a strong PG line)

Notable signings:

Antonio Davis 68 Mid-level Exception - Got myself a fourth C back then but was worth it, plays second PF now

Notable games:

66-120 Bulls Just went with the flow, couldn't do anything to stop them (as if each and everyone became MJ)

61-70 Milwaukee The first loss, the fun part is that I lead 52-43 after the 3rd. Managed a 9-27 4th.

83-85 Cleveland A sad little deja vu(see 2000 Olympics), especially with Jasikevicius' last second 3-pointer

That's it for now, gonna update it tomorrow, not sure I got the 61-70 game right, some ratings may need checking out.

This is a good team with solid veterans, who are you training? I think you should either make a trade for a better backup small forward or draft one in the off season. okur is always good to have he's an excellent scorer and as for murray i love him. He's good off the bench but how is he doing for your team as a starter? This team is deadly from downtown, because of okur, jackson and miller.

Currently it's Patrick O'Bryant. He's the youngest player and needs some help with consistency(tends to get blocked or misses dunks), but was the MVP(15 pts, 6 reb) in my last game, played without O'Neal, Jackson and Murray to give them a rest. It's after the deadline, but it's possible that I'll try to draft a SF in the second round, because they are quite multifunctional - one game I stuck Jackson in PF and the next - SG... Murray being in the starting 5 is because the PG line is very weak, and due to fatigue I usually switch through all those players. He tends to get tired quickly, so I use him for the 1st and the 4th (sometimes third). Basically a playmaker, because I use O'Neal to get into the rhythm. However, very dependable in late-game situations.

My current rotation(I play 6 minute quarters):

Okur -> O'Bryant, Davis
O'Neal -> Davis, Granger
Jackson -> Granger, Walton
Miller -> Walton, Ward, Jasikevicius
Murray -> Jasikevicius, Jack

Since it's only 40 or so days until the season ends, I'll try to rest my key players, also I'll try to fit Granger somewhere in the rotation(had two bad injuries recently), perhaps stick him in the starting 5, but because Jackson is strictly a role player (unless I spice up his X-Factor), my playing style will need some workaround. In fact, I'm not used to playing with a powerful team. It took some time before I got used to O'Neal being the go-to guy.

Got the info on my last three games.

you have a very dangerous 3 point shooting team..
try 2 put granger in the SF position he has the skill to play in the wing..
or try to get lebron cause james can play all 3 positions,(PG,SG,SF) he's a very good defensive player..^^
good luck on your dynasty.. GO indY ^^

me get James? It took me forever to find the right things for Okur, and I was scouting for 69 or so centers at the time - the hiatus was primarily caused by that inability to trade(plus I bought a bunch of football games)... However, I will looking to take Jackson and Miller out of the team because they're stinking up the chemistry - unfortunately, it's got to wait until off-season. Of course, adding Granger to the 5 might solve something.

Checked the chemistry, James would fit in. Played a game with the Cavs in the Loans arena, 94-77. Easy, yet I struggled through fatigue. MVP - again O'Neal, 16 pts, 9 rebs, 2 ast, 4 blocks. Signed Andray Blatche, Josh Davis and Anthony Carter for minimum contracts to try and limit the fatigue. HOpe it works, otherwise I'd have to use three timeouts at the very start of each playoff game.

Subbed Blatche, Carter and Davis into the team for Okur, Granger and Murray(they all have fatigue problems)... Easy away win against the T-Wolves 94-71, starting lineup - O'Neal, Blatche, J. Davis, Miller, Jasikevicius. Had a little dunk fest with O'Neal in the 4th (27 points), and his totals were 43 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Ward played for only several minutes, but his PG position ended in 5 assists.
