create a player first, no need to edit his ratings
and save the roster
open the player.dbf in this roster file with excel
edit the column "I" and "CM" of the player
change the "I" rating of the player to 102
and change the "CM" rating to 16
back to the game, load the roster
go to the practice mode, enjoy

thanks gut
Wed Dec 04, 2002 11:41 pm
damn that's sweet... can you do it in a game also? is it a special combination of buttons or just pressing the shoot button with turbo or something?
Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:09 am
sure is interesting... i'll give it a try...
Thu Dec 05, 2002 2:41 am
Has anyone seen a "I" or "CM" rating? I didn't see it
Thu Dec 05, 2002 6:35 am
"I" and "CM" are from Excel...they are the Height of the player and the Dunk Pack
I'd just see if the Dunk Pack at 16 does it...
Thu Dec 05, 2002 7:04 am
anyone confirm this works?? I saved the stats, but not showing up when I play...
Thu Dec 05, 2002 8:48 am
Does it have to be a created player, cuz I'd like to try it out with Tracy McGrady.
Thu Dec 05, 2002 12:08 pm
Well his height is 102 inches - 8'6"
And considering Live exaggerates height differences for effect, he's probably about 9+ feet tall. That's why he can dunk like that
Thu Dec 05, 2002 2:58 pm
Alright I will confirm it.. It doesnt work. Thanks.
Thu Dec 05, 2002 4:04 pm
actually the tweaking works on any players
just remember after you have edited the dbf file
you have to LOAD your save in the game first
i've posted the animation GIF above...so stop asking if it's work or not
Thu Dec 05, 2002 4:47 pm
it works!!! it works!!! even tried it in a game!!!

Fri Dec 06, 2002 12:52 am
oh god...
just what i need... another computer player dunking on me wit reckless abandon....
Fri Dec 06, 2002 1:08 am
Seriously, why would anyone want to make a player that dunks from the 3pt line? Oh wait, i forgot, this is the arcade basketball lovers game...

It definitely works. I had lots of fun last night with this. I'm not sure what database live really uses, but I've taken to modifying one file and making sure that the
"My Documents/NBA Live 2003/databases/currentdb"
"My Documents/NBA Live 2003/databases/workingdb"
"My Documents/NBA Live 2003/databases/originaldb"
players.dbf files are all the same (updated).
This method works for sure.
Also, I tried playing around with the Height settings some more, and it turns out that you can use any value from 1 to 255 (at least). This results in players that are 10 inches tall (the ball is bigger than the player), to 26 ft tall (in which case clipping causes only their shadow to be seen most of the time.
Some heights to try:
110 - 8 ft 6, no one will ever block your shot!
30 - Mini-mouse, but you can still dunk close in, awesome!
*Note: many of the dunk animations get ackward if the player is over 9ft, and sometime players over 8ft get stuck behind the backboard...

Hey, I was looking at the file on Excel, and Jordan also has a value of 16 in the CM field and Vince Carter only has an 8. Does anyone really know what these values represent cause they don't seem to make sense. I figured the larger the number, the better the dunks, but VC only has an 8.
I have a created player with Dunks at 99 and it seems that he doesnt do any great dunks that others do. I wanna see 360's when hes all alone. Does anyone know what the best number to use is that wont make him dunk unrealistically (3pt Line).
Thanks.

oh man...just for fun...
edit the player doesn't mean that i don't like sim game
and so...i just asked people to try it in practice mode
i haven't told you to use it in game...

So does that mean, you can find out how to increase the probability of a character tip slamming?!!!
I need someone to help me.. Without this (I couldn't do it in any other NBA Live) I am ruined and unfulfilled
