Freestyle Superstars Discussion

First off an aiact will be made that completely gets rid of FSS if you dont want it so this thread is not about that. This is about what you would like to see done with the FSS system. Basically it withers down to 2 options.

Option 1: The moves we keep in FSS are exclusive to the FSS players. That means only highflyers can do special dunks and the nonFSS players can't do that same dunk.

Option 2: There are no exclusive moves for the FSS players, however you can choose what kind of pass/shot/dunk etc you would like to pull off to have more control over the play. For instance any player (with the right dunkpack) can do an around the back layup or windmill dunk, but with a FSS scorer or highflyer you can choose to do that instead of it being at random.

Also, what would you like to see for FSS moves? With shots we can add a step back, spin, drop step etc before the shot similar to the 08 GTMs which is something I experimented with in the startup pack for this.

I'll go with OPTION 2 , as long as JAO, like what you have stated "there is a right dunkpack" that can be apply to players.

just a suggeston, do you think its possible to create different PACKS for each type of shot, for example: postmoved pack, layup pack , (jumpshot pack   ), etc.....?

about fss moves, just make diiferent variations of moves to make the game differ from other version of live. Concentrate on postmove

last thing JAO, from your video, it seems like kobe have different jumpshot

Thu Jun 05, 2008 4:27 am

you can limit the shots from position on the court and between big men/guards.

and that Kobe jumpshot was just a fadeaway

Just a question regarding the 2 options. For option 2, if any player (other than FSS) can do random moves, won't that make them more versatile than the FSS players?

Just my suggestion, perhaps FSS players can be assigned more versatility in their layups and dunks while the other players can only do simple dunks and layups? This way, when the game is on the line, the FSS player can take control and do whatever he needs to win the game, including executing the various moves...

Players like Kobe (IMHO) is a combo of FSS scorer and highflyer; but restricting him to just one of those FSS limits his versatility... :)

Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:42 am

Well not every player would do them in option 2, but I understand what you mean. The point of #2 would be to allow you choose manually instead of it being random.

Your 2nd comment sounds more like option 1 which is a good point.

and 3, yea it does kinda suck but that is a limitation of the 06 FSS system.

Thu Jun 05, 2008 12:00 pm

Alrighty! It's clearer now after the clarification.

For the last point, is there any possibility to tweak the aiact to assign certain "scorer"/"highflyer" moves to FSS player like Kobe? Like the reverse layup (very Jordanique) and the 1 handed soaring dunk that resembles the Jordan FT-dunk... ?? Only a handful of players (perhaps Lebron, Kobe, McGrady only) will have this FSS?

Option 3 - FSS players are allowed to "choose" the animation like normal, but these animations are also given to the regular players contextually. Don't say it can't be done, because it can.

Wow, Pdub's aggressive. :P

I'm still waiting if any other option pops out to give my opinion.

jaosming keep up the good work i hope you'll release this aiact soon :)

At first I was leaning towards Option 1 because it preserves the concept that the players with FSS abilities are standout players and they have an advantage that regular players do not. Still, if it's only a limited amount of FSS moves being given to regular players then they're not going to be as powerful and the ability to force a FSS move is going to be much more useful in the clutch than relying on it being randomly selected. Option 2 would seem the way to go.

I like that idea.

Also, it wasn't possible to do all those behind-the-back layups, behind-the-back passes and everything else on PC, will it be possible with NBA Live PC ?

Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:16 pm

I'm not sure what you mean there. NBA Live 06's FSS features a behind-the-back layup and pass by default.

Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:33 pm

Oh, well.. I haven't played Live '06, thought it's like in '07, my bad.

That is what I meant by option 2 puta

Thu Jun 05, 2008 10:35 pm

Which moves were you thinking of extending to regular players as well?

Sat Jun 07, 2008 12:06 am

Id go to options 2 but i hope that the fss moves will be automatic like in 08 where you will just press the shoot button and they will do the fss moves.

Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:12 am

I was thinking the shots, some of the fancy passes (at a low % of actually happening) same with the hang your hand high after the shot animation (did you see how many players last night did that?) and the FSS dunks/layups to occur on fast breaks for a little more showtime.

but actually, I've been thinking of an option 3  which I do plan to try out no matter the result of the poll or what you guys think.

After watching ray allen last night be a shooter, scorer and a (horrible) playmaker, in 06 terms, I am going to look into giving special passes, shots, and dunks/layups for each FSS type. Meaning instead of FSS playmakers having 4 different pass types, they will have 1 button for the fancy passes (the pass button), one for FSS shots (the shoot button), one for FSS layups (just guess which button), and for the rebound button I was thinking of having a "specialized" move for each type. So for PMs that can be a lob pass since we dont have control over that like in 07/08. For highflyers it can be a special dunk or hell, maybe force them to do a highflyer layup (so FSS dunks on the dunk/layup button, FSS Layups on the rebound button).

If I do get started on this, Ill be sure to post a BETA of that AIACT so you guys and try it out.

I like this option about the best.

I like it, too.

Yeah this new option sounds like the best to me as well. It would be nice though if you can make all three and test it out and see which one works the best, but if not number three sounds good.

Cool, sounds good to me.

That sounds awesome too, it would also be a good way to compensate for the inability to switch FSS movesets in-game.

Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:23 pm

That last option by Jao sounds better. (Y)

Sat Jun 07, 2008 5:52 pm

I'm all for option 3 too!!! (Y) (Y)
