Lamrock93 - thx man and likewise i'll be following your dynasty as well; i mean how can you NOT dig D-Will? the dude is tiiight!

actually, i asked you about him in your Dyn thread; i think he's a bit more 'green' in my dynasty than in yours, so it'll probably take a longer while before he makes as big an impact for my Rockets

EDIT: and is it me or is it crazy impossible to log on/post anymore? i can only read/post something if i'm lucky enough that it works after waiting forever :?

Yeah, D-Will is awesome. In reply to your question in my dynasty, he is initially rated an overall 83, which is a fair rating for him.

The NLSC has always been slow, but these days more than usual. Usually in the evening, the site will refuse to load. I think its because of too many people being on here at once. I'm sure Andrew will fix this soon though, and let us have signatures again.

Lamrock93 - hmm 83? that's about what i expected low/mid 80's; ah well... my D-Will (74 overall) has his work cut out for him then; i guess i could .dbf edit him but it'll be fun to see if i'm able to train him up

and yeah, the site is chug city lately; would like to post/comment more but it's practically impossible for now; i know the NLSC boys are on it though so hopefully things will run smoother soon;

Sit - thx man and same for yours as well; i'd comment more but right now as i said it's tough to even read new posts sometimes; every so often i can sneak one in though like right now, which reminds me, i'd better hit 'submit' quick before it locks up again ;)

GAME RECAP

Utah's rookie phenom point guard, Sergei Tankosic, left little doubt in anyone's mind who the leading candidate for 'Rookie of the Year' is after walking away with game MVP honors and leading the Rooks to a 76-63 victory over the Sophs in the '08 All-Star Rookie Challenge

To start the game Orlando Sophmore guard, Vince Dehere, seemed on pace to eclipse any would be MVP challengers, dropping 11 points off 5-for-5 shooting in the first six minutes of play; however, Dehere would hyper-extend his elbow in an accidental collision with Sophmore teammate, Malcolm Stafford, and be forced to sit out the remainder of the game. From the moment of his departure began the Tankosic show

Tankosic blazed the way for the Rookies in a dazzling performance finishing with 24 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 7 assists, many of which connected with high-flying rookie teammates for monsterous dunks that brought fans out of their seats

"Tank? Man, the guy's not only an incredible player but he's a great showman," said Indiana's 7'5" Sophmore Center, Dean Karpovtsev, "Having played overseas a few years, Tank's understanding of the game, both offensively and defensively, is so far ahead of your typical rookie." The towering Karpovtsev put on a show of his own paving the way for the Sophs with a 20 point, 8 rebound, 2 assist night

Miami Sophmore point guard, Toni Karenga, known for his terrific ball-control and handles having only 5 turnovers in 21 games for the Heat, would cough the ball up three times in this game alone due to the suffocating defense of Tankosic. Karenga spoke of his experience after the match, "I'm lucky I don't have to face Tank many times during the season; the guy's a beast. He's a nightmare to guard offensively and just doesn't let up defensively. I imagine it's what (Gary) Payton might've been like during his prime"

Tankosic said following the game, "You know? Winning the hardware was nice but we're all just out there to have a good time and put on a show for the fans; I just wanted to play well, keep guys involved and have fun. Hopefully, I'll get to compete in this game as a Soph next season."

If this rookie sensation who players around the league are simply referring to as "Tank" continues to do what he's doing, look for him to be participating in two games during next season's All-Star Weekend

Coming up… All-Star Weekend continues with the Slam Dunk Competition featuring Chicago's gritty Andres Nocioni, Washington's wily Antawn Jamison, Houston's versatile Tracy McGrady and Memphis' early favorite, vicious, high-flyin' rim-rocker, Hakim Warrick!

Out of the gate, Utah's Sergei Tankosic connects with Washington's Mario Maliq for the sweet flush

The crafty Tankosic drew more than a few "and-1's"

Indiana's 7'5" tower, Dean Karpovtsev, was the man for the Sophs

Awesome recap as always, BD5. Check out Tank's telekenetic powers there, making the trophy float. I guess that's why he's so good. he can move the ball with his mind. (I love Live's graphics. :wink: )

Warrick for the win in the dunk contest! Don't disappoint, BD!

Great, great, recap as usual, nice work! Did you just watch the game (like usual) or did you play it? NEver would have thoguh there would be such a low scoring rookie game and having the rooks win by 13...

TheMC5 - hahah time to call Prof X... I think Tankosic may be a mutant ;)

blazersrule(?) - and here i thought you were a Dubs faithful :P but yeah cpu vs cpu as usual but good catch - i did have to do a "do over" because i played a first game and didn't realize that there are no box scores for the game after you quit it; it sucked too because it was an awesome game where Tank almost had a triple-double and scored 35 points but the MVP trophy went to Sophmore Vince Dehere since the Sophs won by 2; because i had no stats/proof of Tank's incredible performance, i had to redo it and since i was annoyed having to redo the game i shortened it to 8 min qtrs thus the lower score

anyway, thx for comments or just poppin' in to check out the latest; ASWknd continues with a wicked dunk contest that surprised even me - a one-shot deal, no redos, no 'fixed' results - i just let it play out 2 dunks, 2 rounds, winner take all! check it out soon...

Once again, impressive writing. What more can I really say?

Boomdizzle- I am a Warrior's faithful, I live in San Francisco, but.... when I first got aim and such, because the Warriors were hideous at the time, (around like 2000-2001), I made the blazersrule my screen (dont know the password anymore lol), anyways, I've used that name for a lotta things so to make things less confusing, I never switched to Warriorsrule or anything, although I could here. Trust me, my love for the Dubs is 100 times that of the blazers. (I can't believe they lost last night, Kelenna went off!)

ALL-STAR WEEKEND SLAM DUNK CONTEST

Postby Clutch on Mon Nov 05, 2007 9:26 am

Image

CONTESTANTS: Tracy McGrady (HOU), Hakim Warrick (MEM), Antawn Jamison (WAS), Andres Nocioni (CHI)

JUDGES: Spud Webb, Dee Brown, Dominique Wilkins, George Gervin, Clyde Drexler

ROUND 1, Dunk 1

McGrady, Warrick, Jamison, Nocioni

Tracy McGrady got things going for the '07-08 Slam Dunk Contest in electric fashion. McGrady launched the ball off his knee which careened off the far jumbo-tron then caught it several feet away from the basket, brought it down to the knees and finished with a clean reverse flush. From that moment on the crowd knew they were in for a terrific show. SCORE: 50

Not to be outdone, heavy favorite, Hakim Warrick, would step to the plate and deliver in emphatic fashion. Known for ridiculous hops and powerful yet creative dunks, Warrick drew the "Ooohs!" and "Aaaahs!" by slamming the ball with his fist, which ricocheted off the jumbo-tron, then snatching the ball with one hand in full extension the slamming it with enough force to wake the dead. The contest was truly "on." SCORE: 50

Next up was Wizard's Forward, Antawn Jamison. Not really known for anything above 'average' dunk ability, Jamison would make jaws drop with an incredible dunk that started with a bounce pass between his legs, off the backboard which he caught then seemed to elevate with even higher into a 'Statue of Liberty' pose before bringing it down hard and jamming his whole arm into to rim to suspend his hanging body. A point to the crowd verified that he was in it to win it. SCORE: 50

Andres Nocioni was last at bat and maybe tried just a little too hard to please the judges and crowd, given the perfect 50's set before him. The dunk itself was actually pretty nice, starting by facing away from the rim, bouncing it to glance off the glass then bringing it down to his knees and finishing with a wicked reverse; but maybe it was the awkward landing, or maybe the excessive showboating including the 'Airplane'... whatever it was, the judges weren't too impressed. SCORE: 45

ROUND 1, Dunk 2

McGrady, Warrick, Jamison, Nocioni

With the competition stiff on his heels, McGrady would lead off again and this time showcase some power. He started by hefting the ball high into the air seemingly into the crowd; but little did anyone know his target was the crane-cam and as it struck off it, McGrady evelated high to meet it, cocking it back with one arm fully extended then throwing it down with utmost authority. Nobody stayed in their seat from that moment on. SCORE: 50

McGrady's 50 set the standard but didn't faze Warrick in the slightest. In fact, if anything it seemed to pump him up and he responded with a breathtaking second dunk - facing away from the basket, he bounced it hard off the glass while reversing direction before charging the hoop, then elevating and windmilling the ball for a vicious one-hand slam which drove the crowd into an absolute frenzy. SCORE: 50

Jamison perhaps feeling the heat, decided to take a page from a previously successful dunk champ and fellow Tar Heel alumni, breaking out with a classic "Jordan" pose after a baseline punt. But having seen it before, the judges eliminated any chance of Jamison reaching the second round. SCORE: 45

With no statistical chance of advancing, Nocioni could've easily conceded defeat and hid under a rock after his earlier silly showboating; but instead he stepped up, left it all on the court and put on a show for the fans - off the jumbo-tron, caught mid-air then rocked down low between the legs ala 'Dominique' and finished with a rim-rockin' fully-extended reverse. A redeeming, crowd and judge pleasing dunk which set the stage for the final round showdown between T-Mac and Warrick. SCORE: 50

Image
___

ROUND 2, Dunk 1

Warrick, McGrady

Having reached the final round, Warrick would have his chance to put the pressure on McGrady by going first. He played to the crowd and fellow players observing at courtside including New York's, Stephon Marbury, Golden State's, Jason Richardson and Denver's, Carmelo Anthony. Starting with the ball behind him, Warrick launched the ball skyward, charged the baseline, caught the ball and brought it below his knees before hammering it down in a mean reverse. The crowd loved it, the judges loved it - but it wasn't perfect and left McGrady a tiny window of opportunity. SCORE: 48

McGrady's killer instincts made him pull out all the stops in his final round opening dunk - bouncing the ball between his legs and off the glass, T-Mac took off just inside the freethrow line to meet the ball mid air; catching the ball far from the rim, McGrady seemed suspended in time as he floated towards the basket while he brought the rock under his legs, over his head then crashing down with authority through the hoop. Staring into the camera, even he knew it was a perfect dunk. SCORE: 50

ROUND 2, Dunk 2

Warrick, McGrady (WARNING: large 1.4 MB)

Warrick seemed uncharacteristically frazzled by the crowd's reaction to McGrady's perfect 50 and with the pressure now clearly on his shoulders, he would settle for less than perfect on his final dunk - taking off from a running start, Warrick soared high to the basket and like Jamison earlier, brought his arm fully through it to suspend his body from the rim. It was nice but Jamison's was more difficult and had more style so judges took note and docked Warrick hard. SCORE: 44

Victory clearly in his sights, McGrady refused to play it safe on his final dunk of the night - an incredible mid-air corkscrew that brought his torso near horizontal to the floor at the apex which he then finished thunderously with two hands. Immediately he raised a sole finger to point at everyone in the crowd to signify the #1 on his jersey and #1 status he knew he achieved as the baddest dunker of '07-08. SCORE: 48

Image

Shaking his head in disbelief the Knick's, Stephon Marbury, watching from courtside said, "Man, that was like... incredible Superman sh!t. That last dunk, it like... puts lotta torque n' stress on yo' spine n' still wit' all the back probs T-Mac's had? he still went wit' it. Like I says - incredible."

"Man oh man oooh man," said Denver's, Carmelo Anthony. "That was some great stuff. Tracy wasn't really the favorite because of his back but he really showed everyone he's fine and put on an amazing show"

But T-Mac's got little time for celebrating... as he prepares for the evening's 3-Point Shootout!

Uh. dude, I don't think McGrady got 50 on both of his 2 dunks, that pciture shows he got a 98 in the 2nd round.. so..
but really nice presentation, what a contest! McGrady nearly got a 50 on every dunk! Damn good luck! (y)

Its_asdf - :lol: yeah maybe it's that pretty-boy-can-do-everything-steal-your-girlfriend kinda look; or the fact his head looks a little too small for his body;

blazersrule - no need to explain man. i know what the Dubs record is right now and it's only going to get worse. Azubuike is playing well and Harrington went off; too bad they keep losing :?

oop... thx and good catch, the last dunk was a typo; should be '48' - as good as fixed ;)

P-JAC? What the fudge?

Also, I love the Marbury quote. Way to make him sound as retarded in your dynasty as he does in real life (well, almost as retarded, since there wasn't anything in there about him averaging 12 assists and 2 or 3 dimes). :mrgreen:

ASWknd 3pt Shootout

Postby Clutch on Mon Nov 05, 2007 6:27 pm

Image

CONTESTANTS: Tracy McGrady (HOU), Jason Kidd (NJN), Vladimir Radmanovic (LAL), Baron Davis (GSW)
Kirk Hinrich (CHI), Damon Stoudamire (MEM), Damon Jones (CLE), Mike Dunleavy Jr (IND)

RULES:
Player has 60 seconds to make as make shots as possible;
Each rack consists of 4 regular balls and 1 'money' ball (red, white and blue);
Tie-breaker rounds are shortened to 24 seconds;
Regular balls count for 1 point;
'Money' balls count for 2 points;
2 Rounds

RECAP

"Tired man. Real, real tired," said a visibly exhausted Tracy McGrady as he held the 3pt Shootout trophy for media pictures. On sheer will alone McGrady managed to do something never before achieved: winning the Slam Dunk Contest and 3pt Shootout - two seperate events held on the same day but requiring mastery of two completely different disciplines

McGrady achieved half of his unprecedented journey earlier today in the Slam Dunk contest, where he was seen as having a better chance to win than the 3pt contest, yet still had to beat the favored high-flyer, Hakim Warrick

With brow still wet with perspiration from the Dunk competition, McGrady was whisked away to prepare for the 3pt Shootout and faced stiff competition vs some of the league's best marksmen

The first round would see Indiana's Mike Dunleavy Jr absolutely explode from the pack with a perfect 30 points - not a single missed shot from the field. Meanwhile, if that wasn't deflating enough, McGrady would find himself locked into an extra tie-breaker round with Lakers' Vladimir Radmanovic. T-Mac would prevail by one point and advance to the final round versus the scorching hot Dunleavy

"Going into the tie-breaker against Vlad, I was completely spent and wanted to collapse," said McGrady. "but I really wanted it; plus I knew, if I could advance and keep the heat on Mike D, there was a chance he would crack. He hates the ball in his hands with the game on the line; I knew putting all the pressure on him to win it was my only shot."

McGrady scored a solid but beatable 24 in the final round; but as predicted, Mike Dunleavy Jr, after a perfect first round, came absolutely unglued and sealed McGrady's victory by the third rack

"I... I just... choked. That's all there is to it," said a dejected Dunleavy

Though McGrady will miss tomorrow's All-Star Game, the first time he'll not attend in 7 seasons, he can rest assured that his performance tonight will go down as one of the greatest individual All-Star perfomances in Rockets' and NBA history

i only 'hate' one person in my life and that was an old A-hole boss from like 5 yrs ago...

fy-future-i? i'm clowin' like 95% of the time and shouldn't be taken seriously; and 4% of the time i'm forgiving or just don't give a sh!t; 1% of the time i'm hatin' and that's reserved for my old boss so....

West 116 East 125 Final OT
West Stats
East Stats

King James reigned supreme in the '08 All-Star game as the East topped the West 125-116 in overtime. James steadily contributed throughout the game and took over in overtime, scoring 8 of his team-high 29 points in the extra period and also collected 10 boards, 4 dimes and 3 steals to cap the festive night.

Boston's, Paul Pierce, also had a great game for the victorious East with 23 points, 6 boards and 3 assists going a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown while Miami's Shaquille O'Neal controlled the glass with 17 rebounds and added 11 points.

The Sun's, Steve Nash, and Spur's, Manu Ginobili, carried the offensive load for the West combining for 53 of the 116 point total while Laker's rookie, Juwan Rice, put on an impressive show against the veteran O'Neal tallying 18 points, 2 assists and a team-high 12 rebounds.

With his 2nd-consecutive MVP award in hand, Lebron addressed the crowd, "It's an honor and privilege to win this award tonight playing with and against these guys, the best in the world and representing the city of Cleveland. Thanks everyone who for voted me here tonight and for your continued support thoughout the season."

King James put on a dazzling show and took home the crown of All-Star game MVP

MORE PICS

Ben Gordon doesn't appreciate 'the kick' by Kobe and torches him moments later
One of Bosh's team-high four blocks | Silky smooth Paul Pierce
Ginobili from downtown | "The Diesel" can still throw it down
Laker's Juwan Rice, the only rookie invited | Joe Johnson injured trying to stop Rice's dunk

Next... days from the trade deadline, the Rockets head out for the "city of lost angels" to take on All-Star's Kobe Bryant and rookie phenom, Juwan Rice
___

FYI... In case you're wondering, switched user names because I just wasn't feeling "P-JAC" so that was short-lived and the original "Boomdizzle#5" was just too long to type over and over whenever I couldn't log on

So "Clutch" it is and will be - short and sweet, a tribute to the Rockets' goofy Mascot ;)

Clutch now, eh? Weren't diggin' P-Jac, I suppose? Anyway, sweet block by bosh in the ASG. Happy he made the team in your dynasty. Bosh is a beast. And it even went overtime. I actually wish I could have watched that, and I barely even care about the real All-Star Game.

As for the weekly recap, all I can say is your presentation is pretty much flawless. So simple and crisp. I really dig it.

Can't wait for T-Mac, Yao, and (shudder) Deron Williams to get back in action.

TheMC5 - hey thx man; yeah 'P-Jac' didn't take for me; 'Clutch' however is one funny bear; checkout some of his video antics on the Rockets website sometime - those won me over ;)

but yeah, Bosh has been beastly in the AS game and the reg season; I thought of going after him early on in the dynasty but decided against it; besides, gives me someone to look forward to when the Raptors come to town

Marquis - yeah man Juwan Rice is definitely the future big man for the Lakers; now if only Kobe will cooperate...

Chaser7 - thx man and yeah it still worked/played for me just like any of the other games by just setting the controls to cpu v cpu; it was a cool show to watch for sure but would've been nicer if i had some players in there

thx for reading and comments folks; ASWknd was fun but i'm glad to be over with it and back to the Rockets second half - updates soon
