I think just one time will suffice.

Did I quatro post? Sorry - having some Internet problems atm, so I might have hit refresh a few times to many

The Lakers are looking sorry tonight. They just let the ball bounce into the rim.

Actually that ball left off Walton's hand...

Was about to make a similar comment. It's the 3rd term and the bench has scored 2 points, Fisher has yet to get an assist, and there shooting 40%. Kobe's shooting pretty poorly, but he's the only player out there putting up good numbers.

Yao seems to be having an outing, a t-mac seems to have found his stroke after a slowish start.

Kobe is completely ignoring anyone else on the floor. 2-1 fastbreaks, 3-2, etc. He just ignores everyone. They're standing around on offence, I'm so amazed the game is this close.

Kobe has been downright terrible from the freethrow line, but Chuck Haye's airball was hilarious.

Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:28 pm

Lakers within 4 points with a minute left. Kobe's gone past 40 points, but has shot quite poorly.

EDIT: Make that down by 2 with 24.9 seconds left. This will be a quality come back if they can pull it off, seeing Kobe has nearly done it single-handed.

Amazing comeback. The Lakers are clicking defensively, and it's scary. This game went from a snoozefest to a great game in about 30 seconds.

Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:34 pm

make that down by 2 due to a huge clutch 3 point jumper by my man Battier
game over 95-93 Houston wins

Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:42 pm

Man I can't believe referee's didn't call that last one foul, although maybe I'm wrong, I'd really like to see a replay, but I'm almost sure, that contact could've been whistled...

EDIT. Saw the replay, seems like I was wrong, but it still looked that Houston guy slapped Kobe's head...

nba.com made some neat additions to their boxscores and game scoreboards.
But what does the +/- refer to in the boxscores?

Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:59 pm

I'm guessing the +/- means ...

When a basket is scored, every player on the court for the team scoring the basket is credited with a "plus." Every player on the court for the team scored against gets a "minus." A player's overall total is calculated by subtracting the minuses from the pluses.

Wed Oct 31, 2007 4:12 pm

Regarding +/-:
http://www.nba.com/games/20071030/HOULAL/boxscore.html
When Shane Battier was on the floor, the Rockets outscored the Lakers by six. When Maurice Evans was on the floor, the Rockets outscored the Lakers by eleven.
Apply to the rest to understand.

Wed Oct 31, 2007 4:16 pm

FUCKING BATTIER

Wed Oct 31, 2007 4:43 pm

All in all, a pretty entertaining afternoon. (Y)

Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:08 pm

Battier sucks arse, I hope he gets injured :(

To the NBA Boxscore: I noticed they have a new category, the BA which I think means, Blocked Attempts, well highest is Kobe with 3, well, I think that compliments his 32 field goal attempts.

Wed Oct 31, 2007 10:10 pm

At least the Lakers came back to make it close... Gutted Battier scored the triple but it's all good... Kobe shot terribly and no one else really stepped up. I was happy to see D Fish score that jumper to tie the game. Kobe shoulda been passing more but apparently Jax gave him the all clear to play on the wings and let Fish handle the rock. However, at times, he was surrounded and had guys open... he needs to pass.

I hope all the drama is sorted out soon. Hoping he's not gonna be traded and I still thnik he will be a Laker for at least the rest of this season. Time shall tell!

It wasn't even close to a foul.

It just looked to me like that, from that camera, which was shooting at the other side of the court...

Looks like Kobe isn't going to Chi-town any time soon. At least that;s over with... for now.

what a demanding cocksucker. he wants to go to Chicago but doesn't wanna be traded for Luol Deng. WTF does he expect? to be traded for Jameson Curry?

Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:23 am

ah Eric. what can you do? As I've said, and he should know, the best thing for him to do is stay put in LA. :D

Paxson would never do that. [/homer]

I'd love to have a player of his caliber in Chicago, but I gotta admit it is a little worrying with all this drama going on. If he want's out of the team that has been his for a decade, why wouldn't he want out of Chicago? As soon as the Bulls start losing (which may or may not happen, depending on the trade), he'll be screaming for another trade.
