There isn't, nobody has touched the gameplay. I think the gameplay is a mixed thing, you have to play the right way, although playing defense is mad difficult at times. There's some good things about this game, and many bad ones :D

Remember to make shots with no one in your face since the cpu is terminator when it comes to swatting shots.

NBA Live 2003 can be a fun game depending on your approach to basketball video games. If you're not too fussed on realism and enjoy a slightly more arcade style of game with some sim aspects then you can get a lot of enjoyment out of 2003. However, if you're a stickler for realism/simulation - as a lot of NBA Live fans are - then it's not really the game for you.

Ya know, I agree with lotsa complaints about Live 2003's gameplay. But I still love the game. It's just fun, and the players seem like they're on steroids or something. LoL!

This game has the best AI in any Live game

I wouldn't say that, not when you've got players like Mutombo stepping back to attempt threes. NBA Live 2003 had some good features but there were too many arcade-style elements for most people's tastes.

I mean good AI as the defence is pretty unrealistic. imo the arcade part is what really makes the game fun. Its a bad simu;lation but you still need skill to win games

I can appreciate that but since a lot of people are looking for a sim so NBA Live 2003 did leave people disappointed when it was released.

There are actually 29*4 difficulty settings for this game. And even then, who says you can't just gun for records? Video/computer/arcade games used to be based on high scores and records, it's what gives them longevity.

True, but when it comes to basketball games and indeed most sports games, a majority of players these days are looking for a realistic representation of those sports.

I played a little NBA Live 2005 and I didn't think much about the realism there, either. If you actually trim the quarters down in length, I actually find the stats semi-realistic.

But I'm an old gamer, anyhow. I remember playing TV Sports Basketball, Arch Rivals, etc. To those games, this is very realistic.

NBA Live 2005 doesn't feature blocks accompanied by a booming sound and the ball flying all the way to the opposite baseline, to name just one common complaint about 2003 throughout the years. Slider tweaks in NBA Live 2004 onwards have also been used to achieve a desired amount of realism with varying results. 2003 had its good points but most Live enthusiasts at the time were left feeling disappointed by it.

If you don't want to miss too many shots you have to change attack the basket off from auto to manual or all the way off, when you do that, you miss a lot less dunks.

I also play on the hardest setting sometime and it is hard. Did you ever notice, before the teams play, they are ranked, 1-29. If your team is alike a 20 and you're playing a team with 3, of course it's going to be hard.

But it still pisses me off at times too.

The biggest problem I had with the game is that it's impossible to get injured and the game is so fast passed you can't play 12 minutes a quarter, cause you'll end with like 300 points in one game.

Other than that, it's the best NBA Live Game, ever. (Y)

I think you'd find a lot of people who would disagree as other games in the series appeal to players after a slower pace and more realism, but to each their own. :)

lol @ Malignant, funny but true. EA Sports is known for bad AI and handicap control, using cheats to either win or catch up to make the game seem more competitive. I have NBA Live 2003-08, didn't even bother getting 09 due to bad reviews & ratings, I also have Madden 2004-2008, and MVP Baseball 2005 all for PC and in all games, the AI behaves and acts the same. I understand Malignant and his frustration as I constantly shout and curse at the game while im playing too but I can't even explain how many ridiculous events and different scenarios have happened during my 25+ year franchise in Madden 08 that have caused me to turnover the ball, opponent scoring, dropping a wide open pass, etc... even the ingame refs participate in what I like to call "Madden Cheats", there was a Madden game, 2004 or 2006 I think, that lets you, the user, obtain & use madden cheat cards ingame that controlled the opponent to drop the pass, cause a fumble, field goal attempt wide left/right, etc... that game really made me understand how EA Sports AI operates and the % of chance for those things to happen during gameplay. EA Sports is and has been a monoply for sports games for every and any console for years. In my opinion, EA Sports gave up improving any of their games in the early 2000's if not earlier. EA Sports seemlessly releases sports games every year for every console with the same poor performance and entertainment knowing that the consumers will purchase their products because...what other companies out there release a new game for every console every year? The consumers have to stop supporting and purchasing EA Sports products in order to get the message accross that game development & AI is very important and should be taken into consideration for improvement every year within every and any game released for every and any console.
