FPS Question.

Sat Mar 17, 2007 12:42 am

I used to play NBA Live 2005 on my Machine with everything maxed out no vsync or AA at 1024 x 768 with about 35 to 40 fps. i skipped last years 06 but i just got 07. the thing is that now i can barely get 21 fps. I meet the recomended specs. Is My Machine able to hit the 30 mark?

Pc Specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2.0 OC to 2600+ @ 2.12
Fic AM37 Mobo
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro OC 357/348
512 Samsung PC2100 RAM

Im Planning on Volt Modding my 9700 Pro. With Volt Mod these can do 450/400 on average, could that help me increase frames more?

yeah it will increase the fps, just dont expect to have an increase of 10 or more fps. But just incase OC your vid by 5, then benchmark it. (well i guess you know what your doing so i will not explain more) :P

also, i notice that you OC your amd too. Does the 120mhz increase worth it?

Well it gave me a 5-10 fps increase in NFS Underground 2 so yeah...it could go all the way to 2.3ghz but my psu is the limiting factor. But what should be my avg fps with my current setup? I probably should mention that im using Cat. 7.1. Im thinking of dropping down to 5.11 which incidently was the driver version i was using with live 05.

Edit:

Actually i got up to 32 fps on high now. I had to drop my drivers to Cat. 5.11 (Omegas). I heard good things about 4.12 thought. Ima give those I try and see.

Yes. You should try to downgrade your drivers. I was getting some choppy gameplay when 07 first came out, and I have an x800. I downgraded to the 6.5 cats and it's all smooth now. Since you have an older card, and older driver might get the game to perform better on your card.
