GEFORCE FX 5200

Sat Aug 30, 2003 5:09 pm

I just changed my videocard to a geforce fx 5200 128mb and somehow instead of the upgrade improving the game it simply worsened it. Now my games hanging with the graphics showing lines and all. Prior to this I ws just simply using a riva tnt2 card and my game ran smoothly...no problems whatsoever. But now that I changed the card everything seems to be f***d up. I've downloaded the latest drivers and still the same thing happens. What should I do? Hope someone can help me with this problem.

Which games are hanging?
What do you mean by showing lines?
What kind of computer do you have?

I haven't heard much of incapabilities with games using the FX5200. You may have got a dud, and you should try exchanging it back at the store you bought it from with another one.
However, IMHO I think the best thing you could do is take that FX5200, return it, and buy a different card. It flat out sucks, and I would be surprised if many games run well on it at all.
The best budget card is probably the ATI radeon 9100/8500LE which are retailing around the same price. Get that instead.
If you can, spend a little more and get a Geforce4 Ti4200 or even an ATI radeon 9600.

Actually all the other games with higher requirements are running perfectly fine. Its just nba live which seems to get messed up. I get to play one game but the problem is right after I play the screen shows up some lines and it hangs on me.

My system specs are the ff:

AMD duron 900
asus a7xx 8x board
fx5200 128 mb
128 ddr ram
80gig hd

dont really know whats up with my nba live game.

what recommended settings are best with this set up?
what is anisotrophic? anti-aliasing? bilinear and trilinear?

Thanks in advance :D

Those are methods used to smooth out images (to get rid of "lines", as you call it).

I suggest you try to download the NBA Live 2003 fix patch if you haven't already. But try messing around with settings in Display Settings. Try using possible combinations.

Thanks dude....i will try to download the patch. I d/l it before but my pc crashed and I lost all my data. right now I'm using my old tnt vid card and everything is running smoothly. However, i will d/l the patch. Hopefully it does the trick for my fx5200.

Thanks again dude.

To those who have additional info that might help pls feel free to give your suggestions. It will surely be appreciated. Thanks in advance
