Reduction of Freestyle Superstar Abilities mid-season?

I am currently playing a season (not dynasty) of 07 (with fantasy draft) and suddenly found players would have their FSS abilities altered part way through the season (specifically, Shawn Marion's Highflyer and Inside Scorer abilities went from "superstar" to "star"). Needless to say, this really destroys his ability for quick dunks and he gets swatted much, much more often.

Is there a particular reason for this? Is it permanent? Do the player's ratings fluctuate in the course of a season? Is there any way to correct this? Any other information that may be helpful?

The usual cause of this problem is the recalculation of ratings that occurs when a player suffers an injury. Usually entering Edit Player and exiting while saving changes (even if you didn't make any) fixes the problem.

Ok, I'll give it a shot next time... the strange thing is that he wasn't injured to my knowledge (unless it happened during the sim between games or something, if that is even possible).

Does the platform matter? I'm playing on PS2, but I would assume the programming is similar to, if not exact with, the PC version.

The platform shouldn't matter, except that an alternative solution (editing the hidden attributes in players.dbf) isn't feasible on the PS2 version. The method I described above should resolve it though.

Really frustrating, but I guess their is either some bug in the programming or the NBA Live gods are testing my patience... thanks for the help though.

It's been reported the last couple of years so you're not alone, though I realise that's not much comfort. Unfortunately there's nothing else I can suggest for the console version of the game since you can't access hidden player attributes.
