A General question as to the source of player ratings

Mon Jan 15, 2007 12:34 pm

Hi Andrew, besides the obvious review of stats, and actual viewing of the player, can you provide your top 3 data sources for rating the players? Just curious as to the process (besides reviewing recommendations from the community).

If you require any assistance, besides being a basketball nut, I have a solid relationship with some pro scouts for the local club (Raps). thanks

Stats, my observations of a player and scouting reports (moreso for rookies). Over the years I've become familiar with what certain ratings achieve within the game (ie what ratings allow a player to be a decent shooter, what dribbling ratings will allow a player to attempt a crossover without losing the ball every time) and sometimes it's difficult to find a balance, particularly since ratings affect simulated stats as well as gameplay and the sim engine isn't perfect.

thanks.. yeah, its worth noting that real life skill attributes may not necessarily tranlsate over to the game, despite our best efforts... I'll volunteer a series of individual player recommendations, just so its easy to reference, based on statistical reference, and scouting

thanks!

No problem, I'll be glad of the feedback. :)

There have been alot of statistical advances that can help you better visualize which players should see overall increase and on what part of their games.
