Shot Clock !!

Sun Nov 26, 2006 11:59 pm

I've been noticing this for the past few NBA live games.....the shot clocks are always 24 seconds no matter how many miniutes you play in a quarter, 12 mins 8 mins or even 5 mins....

But according to basketball rules, this shouldnt be the case (Remember summer olympics where USA won bronze they had a 40 min game with a 10 min quarter rules)....For a 12 min quarter game shot clock should be 24 seconds, for 10 min quarter games shot clock should be 20 seconds, for 8 min quarter games shot clock should be 16 seconds.....and so on

This way the stats would be more realistic in my opinion....so would be the game plays....I think rebounding would be nearly accurate with this as both teams would be forced to take early shots.....and shot percentages would also be more realistic as players would be forced to take shots from many undesired angles and ranges, and some bad shooters would also be forced to take some low percentage shots that will cause an obvious miss and an obvious rebound, just like it happens in the NBA....Plus the number of shots taken in a game would also be determined by this which would be also very realistic this way....

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ??

P.S: has this idea ever been posted here before ?? ive never found anything in the forum....but actually i was hoping that EA would figure that out themselves....

I dont think any gamer of live series who likes simulation plays 2 min per quarter.....if you are actually playing 2 min per qtr you shouldnt be worried about simulation at all...you might as well play with no rules, no shot clock, no foul out, no out of bounds, or even no fouls...lol :D...I'll bet you are not worried with the substitution problem in live 07 that everybody's been talking about..

my suggestions was for the fans taht appriciates real simulation basketball....will the real live fans plz stand up !!

Wanting the shot clock shortened because you play shorter quarters doesn't go along with being a simulation player.

for the majority of people who play this game i would say they play on 5 minutes (i'm not truly considering this forum as the majority, we are more than casual gamers for the most part)...you wanna screw all them over and only give them an 11 second shot clock? that aint gonna fly. Maybe EA COULD give the option to change the shotclock, but its just not what most people want, hell look at the results of your poll :-P no offense man but i dont think its the hottest idea

Hmm 10 minute "quarters" in college 35 second clock. There can be variations on a game, not everyone and every condition plays by the same rules. You asked for feedback, we gave it. Donatello gave a perfectly good response and you said he misinterpreted. You have to be willing to accept criticism making a thread like this. Not everyones going to agree with you and you gotta live with it.

So let's have the ability to set the shot clock. (Y)

I wouldn't mind being able to set the shot clock to whatever I want, just like the foul out option. I think the minimum would have to be at least 20 seconds.

Yes, you are right about that, 10 min quarters and 35 sec clock in college basketball. Variation is certainly there, but that's exactly we need to have an option to change the shot clock.

here's why : In your Live games, the game speeds are certainly not real time. So you move to the opponents basket far quickly than you should, and even wondered why shot clock violations have been so few unrealistically?

If you play 12 min quarters in Live games even at highest difficulty you will end up scoring 130-140 every game in 4 quarters which is unrealistic too.

most of the ppl i have heard from this room plays 7-8 quarter minutes and 24 seconds shot clock in those games gives both teams too much time resulting in better FG% and all. with smaller shot clocks there would be more likely misses and more realistic FG% as well as rebounds.

A bigger clock gives leading team too much advantage to kill time.

I understand this isnt a very popular idea. But i still think its a valid proposal.
