Stamina and .dbf editing

Wed Nov 22, 2006 8:05 am

Might be a stupid question...
If I modify FATIGUE values (which is equal to stamina, right?) in players.dbf, does the overall value of the player changes automatically the next time I load the roster?
For example, I want to decrease the fatigue for most superstars because they just stay on court way too much without getting tired (even with the sub-fix patch), but I don't wanna modify their overall rating, which would change if I was doing this in-game. But what about in .dbf?

I'm not quite sure if the overall is recalculated when you load your rosters or when you edit your player and hit the done button. As far as I know there's no real way of preventing such a thing, especially in dynasty mode as the ratings are recalculated very often.

Their overall will in all likelihood be altered. It's never made a difference when I Edit in-game or via DBF -- the overall has always been re-calculated.

Okay, thanks for the help guys :)

Generally speaking if the overall rating isn't automatically recalculated upon reloading the roster, going into Edit Player will force the game to recalculate it.

We have Edited the fatigue ratings of every single player using a simple method and it hasnt changed any player ratings what so ever. Also it's worked a treat and is almost the same as playing Live 06 in how it works each game.

This is for the only aussie league online league.

Actually, FrenchlLick is right. I changed plenty of fatigue ratings through .dbf last nite, changes that would have modified the overall value if done in-game, but when I loaded the roster, overall ratings were still the same. :)
I was fed up with AI, TP, Kobe,... playing the whole game, I think 80 should be the max for that value, players don't get tired whatsoever otherwise.

Changing dbf rating will not change the overall rating. It only changes if you do it manuel (player edit). But it does affect game play.

Well, I changed a lot of "fatigue", "scorearea" and "threeptatpt" ratings, so hopefully it will affect the gameplay in a positive way...

Threeptapt and scorearea do not affect the ratings at all. Changing fatigue is changing the overall but not till a trigger is pulled (e.g. training players, injuries and other stuff which recalculates ratings). In season mode you might be fine, but not in dynasty mode.

Thx for the explanations.
I only play exhibition games with a different team each time, so I'm fine with that.

My advice was assuming you wanted to recalculate the overall ratings. ;) As eisfeld pointed out other functions will force recalculations in Dynasty Mode which result in a new overall rating if the changes are significant but since you're only dealing with Exhibition Mode that's not really an issue.

Out of curiosity, why don't you want player overalls to change? What's it matter? :eh:

Because I'm a freak...
It takes me forever to tweak the ratings based on stats and what I know about the players, and since stats never reflect ALL the information that's needed, I tend to rely more on my knowledge to determine the player's overall value. Dorky stuff... :proud:
