In a nutshell, CPU Assistance allows the team that is trailing to catch up.

if you are flogging the other team you will miss shots and they will catch up to keep the game close

I'm curious about something too - can you change the pre-game presentations so that there were "Play now" type of presentations before every game in dynasty mode? I hope ya'll know what I'm talking about...
