hi guys
i'm new here, but as I can see, my problem is everyone's problem
the game just can't be played right
like you, I hope the patch will come really soon. I don't mind waiting a few days (weeks), but I hope it is worth
let's hope the patch will really fix the problems, especially the big ones, in my opinion: no CPU subs, 3-pointers counting as 2-pointers, CPU PGs are super-super-mega stars, plus, since I like to play Dynasty, the shorter seasons (58 or 29 games) cause I gotta work too and cannot play all day long
c'mon EA people... you can do it! I hope...

Well, as I just posted on the main site we've got info on what the patch will address:

  1. Fixed missing face texture for Renaldo Balkman
  2. Fixed bug allowing users to release players during FA negotiation period
  3. Fixed inverted text bug for direct pass
  4. Fixed last man back functionality
  5. Fixed bug with substitution logic and also added the following additional functionality:
    • Added a CPU substitution frequency slider
    • Added a Fatigue Effect On/Off option in general gameplay options
  6. Fixed bug that had the wrong jerseys showing up in 1-on-1 and Freestyle game modes
  7. Added functionality to view "average" stats
  8. Added functionality to allow user to save stats in gameplay

More info here.

OK, I'll take the patch of course, but I don't understand their response to an issue I submitted to the petition:

Q. Jab steps (and other pivot moves) triggers a freestyle move.

A: This also is working as designed. The right analog controls a player's freestyle dribbling while the left analog controls a player's movement. If the left analog is moved while using the right analog a player will transition from a jab step to a dribble move (Freestyle move).

It's not supposed to transition from a jab step to a Freestyle move, the player is supposed to take a quick first step and whichever direction you move the left analog stick. I was really looking forward to this being fixed, but it doesn't seem that it was properly understood. I don't think they interpreted the meaning of a jab step properly.

EDIT: They must have checked out my video of the bug, which looks terribly silly, so I'm not sure why there would be any confusion.

# Added a Fatigue Effect On/Off option in general gameplay options

I wish they had just made it a slider like last year, but this is better than nothing.

Q. After calling a play, there's an inability to see where to set up plays.

A: This is working as it is supposed to. We made an improvement this year so that you no longer need to go to a spot to start plays (and hence you no longer need the overlay). In order to call a player the User needs to be the ball carrier, and can set up anywhere in the half court. Once he calls the player the user's teammates will set up in their designated spots and run the play- there is no need to see where to set a play up because the play will begin automatically.

I already noticed that this was the case, but my problem (which I now realize I forgot to submit), was that the Direct Pass icons would come up every time I called a play by double-tapping a D-pad button.

Oh well, I'm still looking forward to it
8-)

now i understand why they locked the dinasty to 82 games its for the new features.. coz when u play only 29 games players will have more rest

as of now im pretty happy that they're making their move but andrew did they said when will the patch be realeased

Tue Oct 17, 2006 10:37 am

At least the stuff should work better and everything should make more sense after the patch is released.

Hope the stuff works well though :)

Thanks for the update Andrew.

Not yet, but "nearing completion" suggests it's not far off.

Thanks to all involved who got this happening. Good to hear that the CPU will start subbing.

But.... no mention of the PG domination issue? Not even "this is working as designed"?

Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:41 am

No, no mention of that issue thus far.

Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:46 am

Yeah what's up with PG domination bug? Do you know if the patch will still address more issues including this one or is that announcement/list is what you see, what you get kinda deal?

Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:48 am

I've made a bunch of posts on the PG domination subject.

I wrote:I still claim that the PG domination bug doesn't exist. It happens because every team has Shooter A as their default play, and if it gets shut down in any way (i.e. the SG doesn't shoot a jumper from the wing) the ball will usually be passed back to the PG, who has very little time left on the shot clock, and will inevitably take the shot himself. I've rarely seen passes made with 5 seconds or less left on the shot clock, with the obvious exception being passes out of the double team animation.

can some1 tell me what last man back functionality exactly does?

If you're about to get burned on a fast break, last man back switches control to the player who is furthest back on D so you can try to make a stop.

Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:06 pm

I agree with Kaboom on this one. I haven't had an issue with PG domination once I became a good defender against the opponent PG.

Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:06 pm

I really hope they fix the triple threat position / jab stepping correctly. There really shouldn't be any confusion. It should basically be like it was in live 06. For me, this was probably the main annoyance as I use this feature almost everytime

Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:08 pm

nice, thx alot...i still think its not a big fix since the guy dribbling the ball (PG most of the time) wont back off, just sometimes when hes doubled.
The amount of fastbreaks is just ridiculous.
And about the pg dominance..i dont think its a bug you just need guard him tightly and play better defence and eventually he will pass the ball around rather than trying to shoot or drive to the basket.
Hes just kinda unstoppable on the fastbreak...

Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:27 pm

I still don't agree on the PG thing. It's true that if you just stay on him tightly and don't stuff around trying to steal it all the time it helps a lot, but he still tries to penetrate way too often. From a realism perspective, it just seems out of whack to me. If he does pass it off, it's rarely to a PF or C down low to try for a low post move - it's always to some leet SG or SF who jacks up a miracle Freestyle shot. I mean, for example, has anybody had Yao Ming score big low post points on them in a game, apart from offensive rebounds? I bet you had Rafer Alston and McGrady score all the points.

Anyway, don't want to drag this O/T. It's still going to be an improvement, and I can finally start my dynasty! I'm happy enough.

^^ didn't read my post at all.

Uh, actually I did. I'm just saying that in my opinion, it's unrealistic is all. You're saying "the bug doesn't exist", and I'm saying that whatever you want to call it, it's not what happens in real life. But, I'm over it. Anyhow, I guess that seeing as you've "made a bunch of posts" on the subject, then your opinion must be authoritative.

Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:05 pm

they should add fatigue slider.. not only fatigue on/off. what if people want to play shorter games and what if i want to change my gamespeed? Is fatigue effect of NBA Live 07 relative to time and speed so that there is no need for slider?

Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:10 pm

Plus the cpu doesn't seem too interested in the inside game... I was playing against the Spurs and Tim Duncan got only like 5-10 shots up while Parker and Manu had around 20 shots... Same thing happens when i'm playing against Miami (Shaq), T-wolves (Garnett) and other teams that normally rely on their big man to dominate games in real life... It's all about the fade away 3pt shots and mid range jumpers by the PG, there's absolutely no post plays unless the CPU gets the Offensive rebound off a miss and then the big men would mostly likely put up a dunk/lay-up.. other than that it's all about the long and mid-range game this year

I meant to say that I made the same sort of post several times in similar threads, which no one bothers to search for when they have the problem.

I still don't think you read my post, because you described the Shooter A play exactly but didn't identify it as the precise problem as I did. Just don't leave the CPU's default offensive play as Shooter A and you won't have this version of the so-called "PG dominance bug".

Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:33 pm

thanks for the heads up andrew... it's cool that most signifcant bugs has been addressed that will be fixed in the patch but this right here is somewhat whack...
Q. If locked as a player, the CPU does not auto inbound. Inbounds are only done if one presses the pass button. This is a significant gameplay issue if one is locked as a power forward or center.

A. This is working as designed. We added the ability to call inbounds plays this year and this change means that if you are player locked you must receive the inbounds pass. This also is not going to be included in the update

i for one use the player lock since it became available in live... and now if for example i lock on to a player like shaq i must go upcourt, get the ball from the inbounds play just to give it to wade or williams and go down back again... wherein before i could just position myself down low... it's as if they didn't read the last sentence of the question... :?

Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:49 pm

when inbounding you can just press L1(direct pass) then you can choose who will get the ball but sometimes the labels are mixed up.

BigKaboom2 wrote:Just don't leave the CPU's default offensive play as Shooter A and you won't have this version of the so-called "PG dominance bug".

I might give that a try.

Tue Oct 17, 2006 3:14 pm

Yeah, maybe yes but post players are not scoring, just pg and sg take MOST of shots. But sometime the pg domination bug is in game - cpu pg just run forward and shot, and shot from diffcult positons, and on my sliders they just keep missing, and the matches are very easy to win with terrible cpu fg percentage (but sometime they are unstoppable even when i reduce their scoring sliders to low and when i play good D).
And about playing good defence on pg, it isn't realistic that whole team concentrate on guy like Snow instead of guarding most likely James. And not every player play good D.
About pg passing they don't pass often on fast breaks and situation when other player of his team is on better position to score...
There is something wrong with pg's.
And so every team has Shooter-A how to change it ? I now, by editing teams.dbf bot not every player that have buyed LIVE now how edit this, and he don't know where go to help maybe he doesn't know that is website called NLSC.
EA should fix default team strategies.

sorry for my bad english
