NBA Live 07 (current gen) FSS Ability Cheat Sheet

Hey Live community, i'm a first time poster, long time lurker -- been a live fan since Lakers vs. Celtics on my old IBM clone. The game still works, btw, but it's hard to get 5' 1/4" drives now-a-days.

Anyway . . . here's my list that i tested on the PC using a created player with all 1's in every other category. These work, but feel free to help this list out. The top line is the ability minimums, and the bottom line is how much MORE ability a player needs to be a superstar, instead of just a star. (or whatever they are called) Enjoy!

Offensive FSS:

Playmaker* -- Pass 80, Dribble 80, Offensive Aware 80
There is only one level for this, unless this is a bug, this gets you the top tier of passes (aka potential turn overs)

Highflyer -- Jump 80, Speed 80, Dunk 80
Superstar -- Jump 90, Dunk 90

Power -- Dunk 80, Strength 80, Hardy 80
Superstar -- Dunk 90, Strength 90, Hardy 90

Inside Scorer -- FG 75, Inside Scoring 80, Offensive Aware 80
Superstar -- Inside Scoring 90, Offensive Aware 85

originally I had FG @ 80, but after re-checking it works @ 75/80/80

Outside Scorer -- FG 75, Speed 80, Dribble 80, Offensive Aware 80
Superstar -- FG 85, Speed 85, Dribble 85, Offensive Aware 85

Shooter -- FG 80, 3PT 80, FT 80
Superstar -- FG 85, 3PT 85, FT 85


Defensive FSS:

Inside Stopper: Block 75, Defensive Rebounds 75, Defensive Aware 75
Superstar -- Defensive Rebounds 85

Outside Stopper: Steal 75, Quickness 75, Defensive Aware 75
Superstar -- Steal 85, Defensive Aware 85

the 'easiest' FSS is the superstar inside stopper, where two abilities are under 80, and one is at 85.

the 'hardest' FSS is to be an outside scorer, where you need FOUR abilities at 85 each.

of course, each type of superstar is different, and has different uses. so far, i haven't been too successful using the playmaker for much. on the other hand, the stepback / turn around fall-away shot (down on the stick + FSS trigger) with the Inside scorer is way too useful.

for example, Kobe has 80 for steal and 86 for defensive awareness

very good point on the Kobe issue, he is a FSS Outside Stopper, but has a Steal and Def. Aware of only 80. Aaarrrgh! His 90 quickness really messes everything up. Maybe there are variable requirements?

I appreciate all the comments, unfortunately my OCD is making me want to make a complete list. Hopefully with the help of the Live community we can achive this in the next week or so.

Correction for Playmaker, there are two levels. With Passing, Dribbling and Offensive Awareness at 80, you are a Star playmaker. At 90, you are a Superstar. Not sure if its completely accurate, but I know Shaun Livingston is a star playmaker and his abilities are at 80. MY created player is above 90 in all 3 and is a superstar playmaker.

I'll sticky this. Also Amar, as a long time Live fan, what are your thoughts on this years game?

Thanks for the sticky. I can play this game, spent some time on it, have some fun, but it's not a serious sim option for me at this point. No point in starting a dynasty just yet. There are some very logical forward steps that have been made -- ability to change freestyle character class in the flow of the game is under appreciated at this level. Imagine how cumbersome it could have been if we had to pause the game, and navigate through three screens to change it. Then unpause the game, and finish the play. Etc. It would be horrible. I think that in its' current state it isn't as fun as previous Live games, or even Lakers vs. Celtics back in the day. (trying to block kareem's signiture move of the Sky Hook with Mark Eaton was a mini game in itself)

Actually, you're right about the Star ratings but the Superstar ratings don't have any rating prerequisites.
When you want to create a superstar player, you need to check the last columns in players.dbf. Inthere, you can find different values (positive or negative).
If it's negative, the player doesn't have any FSS move.
But if it's postive, your player is at least a Star player. After that, if you want him to become a Superstar player you need to check the score. See below how it works :
1. Superstar Highflyer: score = 45+
2. Superstar Playmaker: score = 40+ (don't pay attention to the superstar logo displayed in the Superstar list for playmakers, there is a bug that displays the superstar logo even if the player is only a star)
3. Superstar Power: score = 45+
4. Superstar Outside Scorer: score = 35+
5. Superstar Inside Scorer: score = 35+
6. Superstar Shooter: score = 30+
7. Superstar Outside Stopper: score = 35+
8. Superstar Inside Stopper: score = 30+

wow, that kinda clears things up a bit . . . i didn't want to resort to the dbf file, but, like in many issues, it's really the only way to get the 'real deal', i suppose. nice assist guys!

The reason for this is,some SUPERSTARS in the NBA are not really good in shooting but they CAN shoot, and their image as of now is a good shooter and of course a scorer, so NBA Live 07 made various exceptions to all the SUPERSTARS on each team and gave them the superstar skills even though they are not THAT good.

For example, Kobe is one of the best defenders, even though he does not really have a good vision of the court defensively, he still does his best to defend and the heart to not give up on defensive plays based on what I've seen in the court, that's why he is a skilled defensive player.

Another example, LeBron isnt really a good shooter, but still he is given exceptional stats because of his overmarketed and overrated image as the one with the "it" factor. I think he meant that some players are in between. LeBron is definately no superstar outside scorer in RL very good in mid-range, same goes for Melo. And as Nba Live only distinguishes between inside and outside scorer they got the superstar abilities too. Maybe they should introduce different FSS abilities such as: Inside Scorer, Scorer and for outside only Shooters.

Got to agree on LeBron being overhyped. I remember last season when a lot of people said that his MVP title was robbed and he's going to get him this season, but to be honest he's not that impressive and there are a lot of players who rank above him in MVP rankings. He's that good in Live because of marketing. That's for sure. His stats do not reflect his capabilities in real life but LeBron sells and that's good for the game, so that's the reason he's so good in Live, besides his performance in Sim Games which suck totally.

Haha.?!? He's led the Cavs to the best record in the east - gets 6 assists and 7 rebounds (something only a tiny amount of players in history have done) - the other team's defense is totally focused on him, yet he still shoots a good percentage and gets 27 pts - The Cavs are nothing without him.

Yeah, some of his ratings are overblown, but so are all the other star players.

ok..if that's the case..why is this thread called a cheat sheet? this is about the ratings in game as to how to get FSS abilities not opinions on who should have FSS abilities..

Inside stopper (SUPERSTAR) should be updated it also needs 80 block and 80 defensive awareness
