do we have to buy the patch or we only have to download it?

sory for this stupid question

Fri Oct 06, 2006 6:38 pm

how many people knew they didn't like the game when they bought it? most people only buy stuff they don't want to for things like car or house repairs.
or maybe he meant to say if the game doesn't have the features you expect it to, or represent an actual nba game realistically, then don't buy it.
but the faulty game fairy didn't send out notices this year so how was anyone supposed to know?

I think you are another one that seems to have it all screwed up. EA is a large company, very, very, large company. They have been making games for as long as I can remember. Literaly they have been making games for over 20 years. Nobody stays in business that long for free. It has to be about the money. The gaming industry generates BILLIONS of dollars.

If your friend or EA employees are working 16+ hours a day 7 days a week then that would deffinately be part of the problem with the current game. Noone could work like that without suffering a major dip in performance.

But I guess your comment really doesn't matter because working those hours would give your friend 112+ hours for the week which is over 72 hours of overtime. Which no company is going to pay in this day in age.

We complain about the defects because unlike your imaginary, friend most of us do work for a living and spent our hard earned cash on a product we were fairly certain we would like when we purchased it. Our documented complaints lets EA know that we will not take their neglegence lightly and that someting should be done to resolve the issue.

In the future just think about what you are saying before you make something up just so you can post on a forum.

EA the company is certainly all about the money, although many people at EA (read: the programmers etc.) are probably not.

The thing is, there have been numerous reports about the larger software companies working their employees like slaves - at rather low wages, without overtime pay etc.
I was lucky enough to visit a smaller development studio two years ago in Germany, and those guys basically did nothing else but work on their project. Once the game gets close to release, they simply have to.
If this is in the best interest of the product is questionable, but it is a necessity business-wise.

That said, what sets good software apart from bad software is usually the QA (Quality Assurance). With a good QA, you usually get a better product out there - and quite a few EA products in the past have shown that QA is the thing that is lacking...

Thanks Andrew !
Hope this will work...

I'll buy the game because I'm playing Human Vs Human, so I'm not concerned by all the issues, but I realy hope they'll fix everything up...

Thx.

I think one of the major problems is this one: when direct IP game is finished and another player disconnects you are automatically being sent to Main menu and there's no chance to take a look at the stats or whatever. It's really sad that this problem wasn't added to the bug list... :(

you'll get a lot of issues in human vs human to
players tire (if you correst stamina/fatigue) somewhat, but they perform just as good as when not tired - is there a need for substitutions?

I hope EA Sports release a good Bug Fix :) If not, I'll hate them and their sucking LIVE  (N)

They just announced at easports.com that there will be a patch fix. We don't know what issues they will fix, though.

Sat Oct 07, 2006 8:38 am

From easports.com

Over the course of the last few days, there has been a good deal of feedback around the release of NBA LIVE and some issues for members within the NBA LIVE community.

The Development Team has heard these concerns and is in the process of creating a patch for the PC version of the game that will address some of these issues.

Details on what issues will be addressed is forthcoming and should be available within the next couple weeks. We thank you for your patience and support during this time and will provide further updates on this patch as it becomes available.

  • Three pointers either count a feet away from the line in a certain area or on the line in a different area.

I'm surprised that not many people are concerned with this one. True I haven't played a lot of games yet, but in those I did there were many times I (thought I) took a 3-pt shot, only to find out that it was only a 2. This can be a problem in close games when you desperately need a 3-pt field goal.

Sat Oct 07, 2006 11:47 am

Thanks Andrew, I'll now look at buying the game. I think the problem is that these companies try too hard to get things out before their competition and as a result don't check things properly, having said that, surely there's testing and a checklist of features the programmers want to have in the game, to have most of these now reported bugs in Live 06, you'd think they would keep them on a list somewhere and make sure that they go into the new version. Quality control must be lacking at EA

Sat Oct 07, 2006 12:17 pm

GOOD.. Thanks to the whoever person who is involved with the petition..

I agree. I wish I upgraded that to a significant issue, but ah well, too late for that now.

Sounds promising, haven't heard any more via email though. Hopefully I'll be given some more information to pass along.

Sat Oct 07, 2006 5:03 pm

Yeah great news, Ive heard so much about improved gameplay and stuff, but I couldnt bring myself to buy a game that I couldn't enjoy. 07 was almost a waste of money from both EA and consumers (depending on the patch)

Sat Oct 07, 2006 6:55 pm

At last an official update (Y) Let's just hope that EA will release the patch in the next couple of weeks as they say

Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:31 pm

the details on what the patch will fix are coming in the next "couple weeks". not the patch itself.

Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:52 pm

Yeah, they got first to play the game for the first time, then they got first to realize what they shitted, then to see what they can fix and what not, and then release NBA Live 08.

WORD.

Sat Oct 07, 2006 11:49 pm

Only when they fix the so called "minor issues", we can say that EA cares about the fans/customers and wants to produce the best basketball game possible. Things like saving camera and other settings, adding missing players, etc...

Sun Oct 08, 2006 12:10 am

Congratulations to the community for working together to voice our concerns out. Our petition sure made a big impact on EASports. It's just a matter of time now for us to know if they can deliver or not.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 2:24 am

It's probably not good to be greedy but I'd love to have those "minor" problems fixed as much as I would most of the major problems
