How would he prove this? By waisting time making a before and after video? Why would he do this, when each individual gamer could test this for themselves in a matter of seconds...

Pfffsh

Edit:

Laughable solution !! Nice find and thanks for sharing it with the community!

It doesn't work for me... or at least for the online gaming. It slows the computer and the loading is way toooooooooooooo long !!! Im' not sure it is the solution.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:39 am

what do you mean by crashing? it really crashes? it hasn't crashed yet for me. The only thing is when i play online i cant check the stats after a guy leaves.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:51 am

To me, it is not a crash, but quite often, I'm back to the desktop. The window minimizes in the task bar... and when I play online, it ends the connexion.

I did try this when he posted it in another thread but I can't get it to play. He's using a 64-bit o/s. Mine's 32-bit. I'm the exact opposite, can only play without compatibility and the rest give dvd-reading problems or just wun start the game.

This solution can be tried out by everyone, but please do not blame him if it doesn't work. To the lucky ppl that got it working by this method, go and enjoy the game :)

For more information, check the thread in technical section, the crash thread.

P.S I'm still in a solution-finding session with EA Customer Support.

I have the same problem and I tried to set windows 95 compatibility but the game is slower and crashes... I have got windows xp 64 bit service pack 2003. Is there a file for who have this system?

Several people have posted this "solution" already (Polish boy isn't the first, I think EnrageD might have been)...I only put "solution" in quotes because it def doesn't work for everyone (e.g. myself). And I don't think anyone has explained why the hell it should work in the first place. But, I guess it is worth giving a try, because it allegedly works for some.

As for the rest of us, I think the problem is the graphics card...for some reason EA has changed the min. req. for Live (as compared to Madden 07, FIFA 07, etc.). If you do not have one of the cards listed as min. reqs.

#
NVIDIA GeForce3 or greater.
#
ATI Radeon 7500 or greater.
#
The Intel 915, 945 and 950
#

, or you do have one of those cards but it is in a laptop, you will have this crashing problem...

From my correpondence with EA technical support, this issue is NOT GOING TO BE RESOLVED...the best they seem to be willing to do is provide this link re: warranties and refunds

http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/p ... mation.php

Good luck to everyone, sign the petition, don't buy Live 08...and post here if (by some miracle) you find a REAL solution.

I have a nvidia 6600 GT it crashes.. I also have windows 64bit and tried the windows 95 routine but it wont open.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 4:01 am

Maybe its true but for me it really works.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 7:13 am

end of eye: do you have the nvidia 6600 GT on a laptop?
the laptop versions of these graphics cards are pared down from the desktop versions...so says EA tech support.

Close of all your non-essential background programs. Thats what I tried, and my game hasn't crashed since.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:36 am

pdub, already tried that (i'm not that dumb)...

Thu Oct 05, 2006 1:27 pm

I got another one that I didn't tell anyone. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with solving crashes.

In the Windows registry there are a couple of memory values for Live that I increased.

Its in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 07"

The values are "CacheSize" and "SwapSize"

CacheSize originally was 3752440832, I changed it to 4096000000
SwapSize originally was 92897280, I changed it to 102400000

I did this because I was having some performance issues and I figured it couldn't hurt especially with downloaded patches.

What kind of performance issues?

Thu Oct 05, 2006 6:15 pm

Low frame rate.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 7:36 pm

What exactly does it do? Does it make the game run smoother?

EDIT: Sorry, but where can I find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Folder?

EDIT 2: Nevermind, found it :)
