Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Response from EA about the NBA Live 07 bugs.

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:11 am

I apologize for deleting the other thread, but an EA employee asked me personally to remove it, and all contact information that was included in the thread, and I see no reason to let it remain if they don't want it here. Please do not repost the EA employee contact info.

I did get in contact with an EA representative earlier today, who took my name and number, and told me I'd get a call back this afternoon.

I then recieved a call back from a gentleman whose name I won't mention here (yet), he talked to me for a few minutes and didn't seem to have any idea that there were so many bugs/"Screw-ups" with the game. He was overall very polite and I'm pleased with the conversation.

He also gave me his email address and asked for a list of my (our) concerns. I sent him the email, and his first reply was to remove the EA employee's personal information from the forum, and I assume a second reply will come soon.

Looking forward to his next reply.

He didn't seem to have an idea of the bugs and screw ups ey. What kind of ship are they running there?!? What is his position anyway?

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:27 am

Well he did not flat-out say that he had no idea about any of it, that's just how I read the situation.

And, regarding what his job is.... I actually just did a bit of detective work and looked it up... I'm talking to somebody pretty high-up. I think it might just do some good.

I want to buy the game today and I am hoping for a glimer of hope but I think I'm buying 2k7 if what ever says is true

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:30 am

Well high up means he didn't really get to play the game before it was sent to the stores. I hope the person in charge of quality gets sacked! I'd still buy the game but it should be much better next year.

No offence Donatello, but I think this is absolute bullshit.

If they didn't know, they didn't playtest. Or they playtested by randomly chucking the gamepads into walls and getting really drunk. And if they didn't playtest, EA are damn amatures.

No game company worth it's name will release a product without giving it a runthrough. EA is a huge company and it's a damn joke that they let NBA Live 07 through the system. I'm hugely dissapointed and wont stand for this any more. I've supported this game for a long time, but this is the end of the line. I will return my copy and I hope that everyone else does the same. Because it's unacceptable to be treated this way as customers.

E: Smart move removing the mailadress. It's a good sign that they're willing to contact you, and that should be respected. But the product is still a horrible mess.

And, just for reflection, isn't it odd that no reviews from any sites mentions these things? Or that the bigger sites haven't even publiced their reviews?

I am certainly not saying I'm pleased with them releasing this product- I'm just remaining polite, understanding, and considerate with the gentleman I'm conversing with because I know it's probably (certainly) not his direct fault.

The blatant bugs in this release do in fact make it near-garbage, but the game is salvagable with some patches, in my opinion. If the bugs didn't exist, I think this would be one hell of a game. Not that it makes the fact that they released this basically defective product any better.

Anyway, I completely understand your statement, but I won't full-out state if I agree or disagree; I believe it would be best for me to remain as neutral as possible since I'm kind of acting on behalf of everyone here.

Most game company just hire high school kids to test play.
Those kids probably spend most of the time on the next gen.

Wise words...
Good luck with this (Y)

I think it's time everyone stopped complaining and started being hopeful for future improvements.

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:44 am

Yeah we all got your back man Keep on theses guys LOL

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:46 am

Good report back Donatello. It's appreciated.

On a side note, I'm astonished at how many fucking retards are swarming this forum...

Not as bad as I thought it would be, but we still need a MASSIVE banner athe top of the page that says "PLEASE search for your question before starting an incoherent new thread".

Good work Donatello, its good to see people actually doing something assertive about the problems as opposed to whining and bitching about it, we have all had time to release our initial frustration and now should be trying to do something helpful (Y)

Sat Sep 30, 2006 9:54 am

I actually want to create a game on my own using the Live codes and language but I can't do that kind of thing. So if you can create patches that will fix most of the issues then please share. I'd be glad to pay you for a bug less game than pay EA for the game they came up with. I'm one of the whiners by the way but that's only because I don't know sxxt about programming or patching up games. Relax guys.

Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:02 am

Oh by all means have a whine, its good to get it out

Im just saying that you can only whine for so long, then if you really are that bothered its time to try do something about it, like sign the petition, im optimistic that something will get done about these issues (Y)

The COO will order his underlings to make the patch, they'll make and release a patch that will fix a few things and introduce more "features" people will praise everyone and pat each other on the back and a horribly broken game will simply become a horrible game.

The massive bugs and amazingly shoddy work have covered over the crushing disappointment that would've been the game without the bugs. That fueled anger against the bugs that broke the game, which led to this.
I think it's time everyone stopped complaining and started being hopeful for future improvements.

Stop pointing out the problems and just silenty wait for our gods to bring us perfection.

It's not "EA bashing" to point out the absolute failings of a once proud company. We shouldn't be satisfied with a patch to make an inferior product playable. We should keep the pressure up until they actually make a good game again. Without the bugs Live is still merely mediocre. The bugs are the pinnacle of the lack of attention EA paid this title, the true display of that is how 2004-05 records come up in "Play Now!" or a large amount of the players have the same data in the players.dbf that they had in Live 06.

Hope the patch comes soon, so we can get to the root of the real problems with the game.

Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:10 am

Ok, honestly, I wasn't surprised to see that many bugs on the current gen console versions of the game. Let's face it, companies are starting to focus more on the next gen version of games and I dunno how it works but I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons why... although it's not an excuse.. that the testers missed a lot of stuff on the current gen versions.

Like I said though, it's not an excuse, but yeah, that's my guess.

Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:10 am

Sounds good Donatello- Being proactive! (Y)

I just got a question though... I was talking to my mate who is a computer geek and studies games programming and he said that testing the game is more than I think...

I'm not sure what he was talking about but he made it sound like EA had certain minimum aims for the game in certain areas and as long as they passed those 'aims', the game was right to be released...

So I'm just asking if anyone knows what they exactly test when they test the game.... perhaps EA foolishly overlook the actual gameplay... I wouldn't know though!

The reason the guy seemed like he didn't know the problems is that many of these customer care reps are not from EA. This stuff is mostly outsourced, most even out to other countries, they just work with what is given to them by EA.

Believe me, the gentleman I spoke with is not an outsourced employee.

if they didn't shit about all the bugs and glitches i think its time for us to move on and officially claim that Live 07 is the biggest shit ever.

Thanks.
