Can someone tell me if we can play a season (not dynasty) with two teams (I'm playing live with a friend)
Thanks, this is really important to me.

could i hear as much as possible about espn intergration and how it is affecting your team.
also just the features involved in it

Wed Sep 27, 2006 7:56 pm

Yeah I agree with Bighort and Flite_23, most of the issues aint too bad to me except the 82 game glitch and the CPU Subs issue, but in the end I can just make the Subs for the CPU team until they release a fix (Y)

Well, it feels like it's a bug cuz the manual does mention the possibility of switch to the last defender by "tapping" on the direct pass button. I thought maybe I need to double-tap or something but nothing works...

Ya'll know what though? Tossing the ball down court is a pretty cheap-ass vice way of playing offense. I've been in situations where that's all the other player did or where I relied on that feature too often and I'd honestly be much happier pushing the ball up court in a traditional fashion than chucking it to the closest guy to the basket on every possession.

Think about it.

can you choose your ally-loop finisher? or its random who gets the ball, like 06 ?

thanks alot

I probably wasn't going to get Live 07 for current gen, but I thought about getting it for PC to do dynasty....but now with all the bugs including the 82 game, 7-7-7-7 (when I play 29, 3-3-3-3) & sub bug, I can't bring myself to get it....I'll wait for some next gen reviews before I decide if I purchase Live this year....as a (it seems now) former PC dynasty head, it's really disappointing to see EA remove simple features out of the game that we take for granted....all we want is a complete, thorough gaming experience & it's hard to do it with what's being put out there....we'll all happily wait until late October or even into November if it means getting a more quality title....ahh well....hope EA release a patch for you guys....

If you have a next gen console you should just go out and buy NBA 2k7...

Im thinking of trading in my ps2 and all my games for a 360 so I can get it.

I got 2k6, I've already pre-ordered & paid for 2k7....that was never a doubt, it's no contest on next gen for bball titles....I just meant if it reviews well, say 85% or better, then I'll probably give it a look....it's probably got a couple of features that 2k doesn't....although, we'll wait & see for reviews, but I'm not expecting great ones....

my first impression, mmmmmmm i don`t like it but i don`t liked live 06 either in the first impression i had played it know for about 5 hours and the main things that frustrated me are that the game is toooooooo slow and you have to wait to long to pass the ball after the ball was outbound, the other thing that is very stupid is that you cant configure your controller in the dynasty mode only at the beginning but i can live with that once you found your perfect settings you dont need it anymore but why ??
The other thing is the stupid three buttons because there are depending on the distance of your player before there was one button and he take the best choice its very often that when i am behind the basket and want to make a layup under the basket he throws the ball against the basket or he starts a animation and then stops it and do nothing. you all say sad you liked the game play mmmmm what game play most of the time you cant control the ball you always have to wait until the animatin is over to pass the ball i hope that i can fix it with slider but the first impressin is i go play Fifa 07 know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read the post carefully, you'll notice that he's talking about switching to the last defender, not automatically throwing the ball to the person closest to the hoop, though this is possible using the Direct Pass button.

What you describe, however, is why I can't stand playing Live online - it doesn't even look like basketball the way most people play it.

I finally got my hands on this game and my first impression is that the game is very playable (I played on Starter).

I won my first game by 11 points and there was no huge comeback or players turned retarded and throwing away passes at the end of the game. I tried starter because I read people say it was hard and it really wasnt. I coulda won by close to 30 if not for experimenting (even though it was the Bobcats). Adam Morrison scored around 21 points and it was really cool how agressively he went after Kobe. Of course Kobe had the better of him by scoring 38 points (44% shooting which is close to real life), grabbing 6 boards, dishing 6 assists and 2 steals.

The rebounding is great from my perspective. I cant tell the last time I outrebounded an opponent and I did while grabbing 48 in total. In the past I always had trouble getting my bigs in double digit rebounds without actively seeking it out but Kwame had 13 and Odom had 10 with me not really paying attention to stat stuffing. Charlotte had around 40 rebounds I believe.

I love the tough guarding on point guards coming up-court. I hear people complaining about the point guards scoring alot in this version but Felton only had 16 point and took 14 shots. He also dished out 8 assists. Smush had 9 assists to go along with 8 points so I admit he was outplayed by Felton but not that greatly.

Still havent gotten used to he buttons but with time I will. On a few occasions I was throwing up layups from the 3-point line when I wanted to shoot the 3 (thats my own fault).

Havent figured out the hop-step yet but as said before it was the first game.

I gave up on the free throws after one try and just made the cpu shoot it. I'll practice that some other time.

On another note I really wanted to see those signature jumpshots, woulda made the game so much better. Its still ok but could be better. Cant wait for patcher to get to work.

The presentation was pretty good. Really like the videos on the first menu.

I am most happy about the consistency in stats as stated before. Last year I had to make a conscious decision to let this guy score this much and that guy grab this many rebounds. Now, without any modified sliders, the game stats came out more accurate that I imagined it would be.

I lied, I did change a slider, the subs. I put it to 50 or 40 I think. There werent many subs except for fouls but I figure its because I did not adjust fatigue. When thats adjusted then I believe the subbing will be fine. Doesnt bother me much if the CPU doesnt sub as much though although it would be nice. Didnt look too hard at the sliders since I had limited time to play before I go to study but I'll tinker more some other time.

I'm fine with it for now, might even do a dynasty and actually try to finish it like Andrew.

As far as I can tell... no. I played a game with 6 minute quarters and on many occasions I deflected passes and such yet there were only 14 turnovers.

There is some + and -.
The - are:
No sig jumps
Old jersey textures
A huge list of missing players
Missing Jeresy
Missing players
No ESPN bars in the menu :/
+:
Improved gameplay
FSS
ESPN
X-factor
Team chemistry
Dunkpackage editing

I like the gameplay, nice blocks, shots, dunks, movement, but it's a bit slow... You have to change the game speed in gameplay options.

Thu Sep 28, 2006 12:57 am

I forgot to mention I really like the dunks and layups in this game, they are really toned down. I didnt do any superstar moves because I'm just not a superstar kinda guy but the regular moves looked pretty nice and easy to me. Not many spectacular dunks and on a few occasions I went up to dunk with Kobe and it turned into an adjusted layup which looked pretty cool.

As said above the game does seem to run just a tad bit too slow so some minor adjustments can be made. I may not because of how the stats came out but when I increase difficulty I probably will have to as plays may take longer to develop.

Have you read some of the other threads? Apparently CPU players get fatigued but do not get subbed at an adequate rate, and there are no Fatigue or CPU Substitution Sliders, which is so far the major disappointment I've heard from those who have the game. I've still got 1.5 hours until I go pick it up at the (university) post office.

Thu Sep 28, 2006 1:04 am

dada, what did you think of the subs? Did the CPU refuse to sub players unless there was a foul situation like everyone is claiming is happening?

Yea I read them but it doesnt really bother me much. Most people I noticed are mostly pissed about the 82 game dynasty and no sig shots. The games still fine to me, hope you enjoy it.

PS- The fast breaks are alot better. I can actually break away without some slow-poke boosting up their speed to catch up to me. The alley-oops are pretty nice too as from the one game I played I noticed a good consistency between finishing it off with a bang and just simply laying it off the backboard. Missed a couple here and there though when I tried it in traffic.

I suppose, they didnt sub that often but as stated I dont really mind. As long as I get my team to sub the way I want them to then theres no worries. Minutes will only be screwed for the games against my side but the CPU has a million more games to play which isnt against me to level out their stats. Later I'm gonna try to adjust the sliders to where I can play the full 12 minute quarters without scoring 150-200 points.

Ah, got you. Man, playing Live 05 online was a DREAM. I'd play multiple games a day, with the occasional cheater. Live 06 online was a complete joke, and not so much because of FFS, but rather because it was SO EASY to steal (Allen Iverson related), mid-range jumpers and 3s were going in back-to-back-to-back-to-back, it was ridiculous. I thought EA would adjust the defaults after awhile, but it never happened. I'm hoping the online experience in 07 is toned down a bit and closer to what 05 had to offer. I'm not a big fan of playing against the computer, so it's a big part of the gameplay experience for me.

dadamafia, thanks for sharing your comments on the game. In regards to the statement quoted above, how does playing defense feel? I used to feel so helpless guarding somebody coming up court, sliding all around them etc. So, most of the time, I'd switch to the center and wait for a drive to the lane or to grab a rebound.

Some of the preview vids for the game showed defense that goes as far as using a forearm on the opponent and them pushing up against you.

What did you notice about the player on player defense?

Yea, sorry if I wasn't being clear enough.
Some buttons assigned to players in offense have changed but I guess it just takes some getting used to, like bigHort said. I don't like to use it too often either cuz it's usually too easy to find exactly who you want (except for fast breaks where I use it a lot). But it's in defense, not being able to switch to the last player annoys me so far, and since the manual mentions it, I'm wondering if it's a bug or if it comes from my gamepad...
