Are the signature jumpshots available for the current gen? thanks

Will the PS2/Xbox users be able to change a teams playing style? Or like 10 years into a dynasty, are the Suns still going to be playing like the Suns of today?

Great recap! I'm really looking forward for this game (Y) It's great to see that this year the defense will have a greater impact and it will be harder to score! And with the FSS being decreased (Y) I hate what the FSS players can do in 06 . But I would have some question:

1. I read that the ability of how you pass the ball is important. But the question is: can you choose how to pass bullet or lob? or the AI will choose for you? like the lay-up dunk thing!

2. Ny old question remains :) if you can turn back and redo the 06 Draft will you be able to play summer-league or pre-season games? And if the 06 Draft is redone will the FA and off-season transactions will be redone also?

3. And I know you talked about cutscenes buit will there be different from the 06 or pretty much the same! Have they introduced new cutscenes? I really hope this will be better from the 06 Live! I really loved Live 2003 especially for the extraordinary cutscenes (Y)

1. You can tap the button to lob, or hold the button in for a bullet from what i understand. Plus now there is a seperate button for Dunk and Layup, not the same button anymore.

2. Good question. I would only assume if you redo the 2006 nba draft that all rosters would be as acurate as a date before the draft. But that would only make sense, i have no idea if this is true.

Good review/preview, thanks (Y)

I might actually get it. Also, I hope they fix up the player models, but its very unlikely.

It has? I thought Live 06 still had the dunk/layup button. hmmm well i havent played it in months. Could have sworn the 4 face buttons were Pass, Jumper, Pro-hop, dunk/layup.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:10 am

Young Buck is right, this is the first year there has been 2 seperate dunk and layups buttons.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:11 am

oh. word i made i mistake in reading what you wrote. good point

Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:12 am

In live 06 there is a dunk/layup button, then a button to do post moves, like hook shots, which is also the same button as the button to shoot a jumpshot if you're far enough outside the key.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:35 am

Wow that's gonna be alot of buttons.
Andrew do you think a controller will be necessary for 07?

Tue Aug 15, 2006 6:20 am

I read something there... I mean if he says it's soooo hard to score near the basket no¡w... will it be another NBA live 04 ? I mean in that game you could be blocked on a fastbreak by shaq because he was fast enough to catch you... or when you tried to make layups all were blocks. I averaged 6 blocks per game with K-Mart that way. I think defense in Live 05 was almost perfect, or at least you had total control over your players.

good review

Ayo are there any other sites that went to the ea event? And have reviews up.

I know what you mean, but I think what EA did was just make the defenders alot more physical, if you try to drive into the lane, people will put their body into you. For those of you who have played 2k6, when you play a full court press on D, have you ever noticed how the player guarding the PG kinda pushes into him, and then the PG with the ball kinda bounces back. Well that's what I think Live's D is gunna be like, making it harder to drive, which is good if they get it right. Or I could be way off, I guess we'll see when Andrew does his review.

Yes, but not as many as Next Gen.

My understanding is that it will change as the roster changes.

1. Yes, it depends how long you hold the button.
2. No, there's no summer league or preseason. Only the Draft is redone.
3. Some are the same but there's new ones too.

Technically speaking it's not necessary, but I would say it's highly recommended to say the least. The way total player control continues to evolve it's going to be difficult to take advantage of everything using the keyboard. But they said they did take keyboard users into advantage when designing the game so no, it's not necessary but I'd definitely recommend it.

It's definitely not like NBA Live 2004, I can't really elaborate at the moment since I'm just answering some posts from work but I'll be sure to cover it in the full recap. :)

Hmm that's interesting! If I want to take Houston let's say and I will draft some other rookie (not Rudy Gay) how will affect the roster? I mean Rudy along with Stro have been traded to Memphis for Battier! Will it be automatically be traded with Stro for Shane or will it remain in my roster? That's why I've asked you about the redone of the transactions and shit :)

That way... rosters should have been updated from two different days: before draft and the usual roster-date (second half of August) to make sense. It would be great but ... I highly doubt it.

good point double g....this is potentially a big bug for such a key feature....where's the fairness of the Rockets having both Battier & Gay....I guess the only way around this is to manually edit rosters to put Battier back on Memphis & adjust for any draft-related trades....

as much as I'd like to do the re-draft, I don't know if I'll ever use this feature as it'll likely unbalance the rosters that were created IRL....

The other transactions won't be undone.

wow, well that makes this feature pretty much suck. Why would anyone want to do the redraft if it still has rosters of today. I guess someone will have to make a pre draft patch.

Wed Aug 16, 2006 2:58 am

Well, the whole point is that you have a chance to draft the rookies again. While it would be strange to have those transactions in place players like Rudy Gay wouldn't necessarily end up back on the team that drafted them and later traded them. It's optional anyway so I personally don't see it as that big a deal.
