Madden = Live ???

Sat Jul 29, 2006 6:51 pm

After all the speculation and facts of Live 07 new Dynasty Mode, Total Freestyle Control, team chemistry, players emotions, momentum, espn mock draft and analysis, so on and so forth do you think Live is catching up with Madden or are they way way far away from it?

If you answer is no, please explain what Live needs to do and put in the game in order to achieve Madden's greatness ?

Thanks.

ps. Let me tell ya something back in the days I didn't even like football and even worst the thought of watching football or going to a football game was extremely remote and since Live is been dropping the ball lately I started watching more and more football and that's what got me into Madden and football back in 2004.

No.
Live doesn't have Owner mode.
Madden does (since 2004).
(MVP Baseball even did)

Madden has mini games (since 2004 or before)
Live has nonuser influenced training

Sun Jul 30, 2006 12:46 am

as producers says, live has mini games too

Sun Jul 30, 2006 2:35 am

no they need a newspaper and they should have an owner mode

Sun Jul 30, 2006 2:41 am

It's all still pure speculation unless you get your hands on a dude that has tried it extensively and has the permission to tell us ALL...

I've never played Madden, but this Live won't be up to that level, but we're certainly trying catch up...

Madden has owner mode, a good trading system, the mini games training camps, you can renovate or build a new stadium, and you can relocate your team to a new city. It also has multi user franchise mode (or something like that, I've never used it), and team chemistry. If you don't give a certain player enough minutes, he'll complain and you'll see it in the paper the next day. And that's all just from 2005, I don't know what else they have in 06.

So yea, Madden is still way ahead, but Live is definitely taking a step in the right direction. But I don't think it will even be close for another year or two.

Your so right. But they should also bring back the "refuse to sign" feature. I remember when I used to play Live 2000, and was playing as the Raptors, and T-Mac became a free agent he would refuse to sign back with my team and I couldn't even offer him a contract. That was cool. (It was cool in the game but not in real life, when T-Mac left the Raptors went down hill).

You forgot to mention that they had a pretty good Create-A-Team feature that's been missing from Live for a while. But at this point, Madden is still ages ahead of Live. It's quite ludicrous to even compare the two, comparing Live to Madden is simply like comparing Backyard wrestling to the WWE. Live has long ways to go (n)

almost forgot about that....it was great when that happened, especially when it was someone you really wanted to re-sign....hopefully the new player chemistry implements this back in :P

I'd forgotten about that as well, but I'd definitely like to see that back. I'm guessing player chemistry should indeed result in players refusing to sign/re-sign in some cases, just as the MLE should go a long way in alleviating the problem of the better free agents going unsigned because no one has the cap space to sign them.

Oh God yes! We all hated that!!! It was so irritating to have good players on the free agent pool and no one could sign them because they did not have enough cap space to sign them. Its about time they added the MLE. They should also add a Trade Block, so that if a player wants out, you can place him on the block and see what teams are willing to give you for him.

Exactly what I said in another post!!! You are so right.

Sun Jul 30, 2006 2:51 pm

I'm all for a trading block as well. (Y)

Sun Jul 30, 2006 5:22 pm

I think Madden 05 had a trading block if not im not mistaken. Trading block is a great feature coz once you noticed a player who doesn't feel like playing for your team any longer you place him on the trading block and entertain yourself with other teams offer the next day or so and you decide which offer is the most beneficial for you and your organization.

That comment was funny about comparing Live to Madden was like comparing Backyard wrestling to the WWE.

But if you think about it Football is a more complex sport than basketball, they have more than 10 guys on the floor on each team and there is a lot more going on.

in madden u can actually trade for draft picks. Unlike in nba live where every gm is holding it on to it like its the holy grail.

LOL! Thats got to change too. It looks as though they made major changes to the Dynasty so lets hope they changed the AI in negotiations in trading.

Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:46 am

Madden 2004 even had a trading block. The rumor central will kinda be like one because you'll know who wants to be traded and who's avaliable.

Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:30 pm

Somehow I got a feeling the only players showing up on those lists will be roleplayers and bench warmers who are rated 50 or so.

No question. And although it shouldn't be simple to the point of exploiting the CPU, it should be able to recognise "Can't Miss" deals. If you offer LeBron James for what should be a lottery pick and a scrub in the first year of a Dynasty, there's no way the CPU should pass it up because they're "not interested in trading picks at this time". Not that most people would make such a lopsided offer but the point is when the offer is more than fair the CPU shouldn't balk at trading a pick. Especially if you did make a move like that. ;)

Live needs Mini Games and Team practices. also some historical teams.

then they'd be caught up with Madden

and if that really were about to happen I HOPE that right after you hit the submit button a screen pop up asking you "are you sure?" :)

The draft picks need to move... For example, not counting the salaries, you offered King James to Seattle for Ray Allen and you threw your late first round pick for their top 15 pick, that should not be an issue.

If the cpu gets a pick back in the trade, it should not be such a big issue... Sometimes when you offer up a pick in addition to some players etc. it still says "not intrested in trading picks"... Which is bad.

Draft picks simply could not be traded... I really have high hopes for the dynasty. The boys at EA have answered the call on many complaints and hopes and wishes regarding the dynasty mode and I really hope that this is one of the fixed issues...

The whole rumor thing and assistant coach thingy, is something that will probably be pretty cool... I'm excited about it... If there will be a whole trading block or not, that's a whole other issue, but this thing will make something that resembles a trading block.

I want to see what EA has come up with... But one thing is for sure... They've been reading the wishlist...

Exactly right, Metsis. A team trading down in the Draft in a deal that involves an All-Star calibre player in return, or trading an aging star for a young one while swapping picks are hardly unrealistic scenarios but the trading logic in the last three games hasn't quite seen it that way. Even acquiring late first round or early second round picks for good players attracting a lot of interest was virtually impossible most of the time.
