ATLANTA (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge decided that he would skip the NBA Draft and stay in college to the delight of Longhorn followers. The Sophomore forward confirmed the media of his intentions to stay at Texas for his Junior year after his team lost a close game to a surging Duke team.

Moses Chara, again being the man in charge of the Blue Devils, came up strong in the clutch sinking back to back to back baskets to give his team the win in the final minute. Chara finished with a game high 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and played great defence on the bigger Aldridge.

Aldridge couldn’t shake off Chara and succumbed to the Senior’s extra experience. He still did a good job in helping pace his Texas team with 21 points and 14 rebounds despite shooting 8 for 21 from the field. “Moses was the better player tonight,” The young Aldridge admitted, “He showed me that I wasn’t ready for the pros just yet and with Texas next year, I will be on a mission.”

Aldridge was expected to enter the NBA draft thanks to his NCAA season and many NBA scouts telling him that he was ready to make the jump after his sophomore year ended. After this game, he made a quick decision to stay in college. In comparison, Moses Chara who was relatively unknown at the beginning of the season has seemingly shot himself into fame and into the picture of being a Top 3 NBA draft pick in the June Draft.

“I’m very proud of Moses,” Coach K stated, “He works hard and has always played brilliantly in training. I now regret that I never gave him enough time on the court in the first three years of his college career but I guess it might have meant to be.”

According to Chara, he doesn’t regret being benched for three years, “I’ve never anticipated going pro. Just playing with the guys in training and being at games has been a great honour indeed. After we (Duke) won the (NCAA) title, watching Shane Battier on that team, I’ve always just wanted to make the team and be in the stadium. I didn’t care if I was on the bench or be a starter or even be just one of the dudes in the crowd.”

Now, the Blue Devils are just one game away from another NCAA championship game.

“It’s surreal, after four years here at Duke, I am finally here and what’s more is that I’m leading a team to the Finals. It’s exciting for sure,” Chara continues, “If someone told me that I would be here now, I would have slapped them silly.”

The game was tightly contested throughout with the 6’9” Chara hounding the 6’11” Aldridge into tough shots and corners where he would turn the ball over. Aldrdige struggled at first, missing his first five shots of the game before he finally figured Chara out.

After getting him stuck down on the low block, Aldridge faked to his right and then to his left before Chara jumped to try and block him. Aldridge pivoted and went right again, softly banking the ball into the hoop to the delight of his fans. That was the beginning of 9 straight points scored by Aldridge before Duke called a timeout and slowly regained control of the game. By halftime, the two teams were locked at a low scoring 31 apiece.

The second half was even uglier as both teams failed to score in the first 6 minutes of the game before Aldridge scored four straight buckets and with 9:43 remaining, Texas was ahead by a mere 5 points. The Longhorns kept ahead for the rest of the game and lead 51-50 with 1:02 left.

After Duke called a time out, Chara stepped back onto the court and quickly sank a long jumper at the top of the key. Then Aldridge’s shot was blocked by Duke’s Kloss and Chara grabbed the ball to dribble down court before popping up for another jumper. He scored from the bottom of the baseline and Duke led 53-51 with 27 seconds left.

Texas called a timeout and shoved the ball right into the hands of Aldridge and the big man missed a wide open lay up before Chara picked the ball out and called a time out. Then with 6 seconds left, Chara cut free from his man and scored a fade away to seal the game and Duke entry into the Final Four.

Duke now face UCLA in the Final Four for a chance to win a place in the NCAA Final.

ATLANTA (AP) -- “I told you so.”

Those were the words of Reshawn Tyson, the North Carolina Tar Heel who hit back at critics with his biggest performance yet in his college career. Third seeded North Carolina upset the UConn Huskies and reached the Final Four.

“No one anticipated we would be here and no one thought I could get the team here,” Tyson boasted after the game, “Let me tell you something. We’re going to win it all.”

The brash freshman is definitely enjoying the spotlight and pretending to be something he wasn’t. “I’m not really cocky or nothing but I decided this is what you people (Press) like to hear and write about so I might give it a go,” The youngster claimed and to prove he didn’t like ego he stated, “Oh yeah, I hate guys who just talk and do nothing. That’s why I don’t like Kobe Bryant.”

UNC stormed into the Final Four with a 15+ point thrashing of the Huskies on the back of a 40 point performance from ReShawn. Despite shooting a sizzling 16 for 24 form the field, the freshman guard showed his inability to apply himself on the defensive end allowing UConn Sophomore Rudy Gay to net 28 points on 10 for 17 shooting.

“Sure, I didn’t play that well on defence but I’m getting there,” Tyson responded to criticisms of his lazy defence.

For Roy Williams, it was a joy for him to see his young team mix it with the ‘big boys.’ He acknowledged what Tyson had to say about how no one thought his team would make it this far into the tourney. “We won it all last year and without seven of our old team here, even I thought it was hard to repeat but I never lost faith in my players,” Williams said, “I’m glad we’re doing well now and surprising a lot of people.”

After a poor effort in the previous game, Tyson lit up the scoreboard early and socred Carolina’s first 7 points of the match. By halftime, he had 17 points and didn’t stop there. He took a breather before coming back on with 17 minutes left in the second half and then scoring his other 23 points in a span of 8 minutes.

With just 9:35 left on the clock, Williams decided it was time to take his star player off the court with Carolina up 65-41. “I think he (Tyson) could have easily got to 50 actually but this isn’t about individual records or anything. We just need to win the games and once the game was won, I chose to rest him for our next game.”

The Tar Heels now have a chance to add to their glorious history by playing in another NCAA Semi-Final game. They will play number one seed Villanova, led by Seniors Randy Foye and Allan Ray, for a place in the NCAA Final.

“It’s really a dream come true and not in my wildest dreams would I imagine us coming up against a big team like Villanova for a place in the Final,” Freshman big man Rocky Akonnor said, “I think that my man Ty will bring his ‘A triple plus’ game that night!”

If North Carolina wants to stay in the hunt though, Rocky is right. Reshawn Tyson needs to play like he did against Connecticut for the Tar Heels to have a chance to make that big game.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- ReShawn Tyson is fast becoming one of the most feared attackers in College basketball. Tyson shattered Carmelo Anthony’s record 33 points made by a freshman in a Final Four Game by pouring in with 59 points. He even beat Bill Bradley’s 41 year record 58 points by 1 point.

The high flying guard scored from all over the court and repeatedly harassed the more experienced Randy Foye and Allan Ray. Attacking the basket relentlessly, Tyson scored on 24 for 36 shooting and made all 7 of his free throws. His 24 field goals was another tournament record.

What surprised his Coach were his 6 three point shots. “He’s defineitely not the best shooter from the three point line so it was definitely a surprise,” Coach Williams said. Tyson laughed after the game, “I guess these types of games really bring out the bets of you!”

Randy Foye led his Villanova team with 25 points while team-mate Allan Ray chipped in 22. The pair was impressed with Tyson’s scoring ability. “He got hot tonight and he was unstoppable. He’s more than a handful,” said Foye. Ray agreed, “We simply had no answers for him.

It was only fitting that North Carolina went into another NCAA Final behind a huge effort from their newest star player and another win over a number one seeded team. And it was their second big win in a row. After toppling the top seeded UConn Huskies, North Carolina continued with their surprising run at the tourney.

And they celebrated hysterically. As the buzzer sounded, the North Carolina players jumped onto the scorers’ table and waved their towels around and threw their jerseys into the crowd.

“How else are freshmen supposed to celebrate?” Laughed Tyson, “We’re all new to this stuff!”

When asked why he didn’t join in, “Well, I’m a bit more serious. We got another game so there’s really no point to get too excited right now. Plus, I rather keep my jersey since I played a great game.”
After a tiring tourney, the team will get a few days rest before the Finals and are privileged to go and watch the game between UCLA and Duke. They play the winners of that Semi-Final.

“I don’t have any preferences,” Tyson said in regards to which team he would rather play against, “Both are good teams and will be tough but I have faith in us to win. We’re young but we’re ready.”

In the last game, Tyson scored 40 points and left the game with half of the second half remaining. This game, Coach let him stay on to try and set a new scoring record. “We have 5 days to rest for the next game and he was on 50 points so I thought why not,” Williams said.

After Tyson set the tone early for the Tar Heels in leading his team to a commanding 32-9 lead with just 3 minutes left in the first half, he subbed off to have a rest. He started the second half and got to 50 points with 12 minutes left in the game. As Tyson sat on the bench with his head covered in with his towel, the North Carolina fans chanted for Tyson to be put on.

Williams gave into the chants of “We want Ty” and subbed his star into the game with 4 minutes remaining. Tyson set his record after scoring two breakaway dunks, two free throws and then hit a three with 46 seconds left to reach 59 points.

“It was a great individual milestone,” Williams said, “For Ty to help us get this far, he deserved the record.”

INDAIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The stage is set for a rematch of the ACC Finals. The stage is set for a classic Final. Why? Because the rivalry between Moses Charas and Reshawn Tyson will finally kick off with a boom.

Well – at least that’s how ESPN is marketing it.

America, meet what the media sees as the next big rivalry in basketball. In one corner is the Senior Forward Moses Charas who can guard all positions and has the most complete game in College basketball. In the other corner is the freshman sensation Tyson who can score almost at will. The two players will face off in the NCAA Final in a few days time after the Blue Devils offset the UCLA Bruins in a classic showdown.

Chara led his team with a near triple double of 22 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. He added 5 blocks and held UCLA’s Luc Richard Mbah a Moute to just 7 points on 3 for 14 shooting. Jordan Farmar was impressive though as he registered a game high 25 points and picked up the lack of scoring of his team mates.

The game was tightly contested from the word go to the end of regulation with Farmar hitting a free throw to tie the game with 2 seconds left. Chara couldn’t get a shot off and the game went to overtime with the teams locked at 55-55.

With the game in the balance, both teams carefully traded baskets before Farmar made a trey to put his team up by 1 with 15.3 seconds left. Duke called a timeout and with their season on the line, Moses Chara put up a shot from just inside the three point arc which missed. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Chara was in the air grabbing the rebound and seemed to hang there for eternity before flipping the ball back into the hoop. After the ball slipped through the net, the buzzer sounded.

It was Game Over to UCLA.

“It was all a blur,” A pleased Coach K stated, “It happened all so fast. You can’t explain how happy I was to see it go in.”

Chara couldn’t believe it himself, “I’m definitely not the most athletic player and I’m not really the best. So I was pretty shocked to be grabbing that rebound and score at the buzzer in overtime.” Chara may have been too modest though as his near triple double effort was noted by many NBA scouts, “I watched lots of footage of Magic Johnson when I was younger. I can say I model my game after his and Larry Bird. They were really my heroes growing up.”

The 6’9” player with shaggy hair raised his arms up and ran the full length of the court and jumped in the air after the match. The Duke bench joined him and lifted him up as the crowd was going crazy.

“It was definitely a great moment,” Coach K said, “We’re in the Finals now so all we can do is win it all.”

It would be a tough ask though as their opponents are North Carolina who have just beaten two number one seeds in back to back blow outs. The UNC team was in fact watching this semi-final and star freshman Reshawn Tyson commented, “Moses will lead his team when they play against us. I will be ready and I know my team will be too.”

Rocky Akonnor agreed with his best friend, “We will put up a fight. We want to beat another number one seeded team.”

Coach K of Duke admitted that winning the NCAA Final wasn’t going to be an easy task, “North Carolina has a great young team. The last thing we need to do is underestimate them. They play their best as underdogs and even though we’ve had a few close ones (games), we are still going into the Finals as favourites to win it all.”

Chara is looking forward to the clash and match up with Tyson though, “It’s time to show that kid what is real basketball. I don’t have any respect for cherry pickers.” When Tyson heard this, he laughed, “He’s just saying that for the media. Wait till I score 30 on him. We will see who’s laughing then!”

Chapter 18

Kevin Garnett picked himself off of the floor. The Wolves had had a long night, fighting back from double digits down for much of it. Coach Mark Moore paced the sideline with his arms folded on his chest. Will Sit sat on the bench right next to Michael Olowokandi.
“Damn Kandi, get some deodorant!” Sit pinched his nose and shook his head, “You smell really bad.”
The big man looked down Sit and patted him on the back, hard.
“Ouch, what was that for?” Sit shouted.
“Hey boss,” Kandi laughed, “Just being friendly with you but if you get on my mean side, I will hurt you worse.”
Sit felt his back starting to get sore and stood up and walked over to Moore on the sideline.
“That guy is annoying me, he really stinks.”
Mark nodded, “I know Kandi isn’t the best player…”
Sit shouted, “No no, he reeks!”
Mark laughed, “Can’t do anything about it.”
Then the ref blew his whistle loud and motioned for a travel committed by the visiting Detroit Pistons and the crowd agreed by cheering even louder. Garnett slapped Marko Jaric’s backside before screaming out something Sit couldn’t hear.
“What did he say?” Sit asked as he turned to the Wolves’ bench.
Madsen joked, “He wants your babies!”

Billups held the ball in his hands and shielded it away from the reach of Troy Hudson. In the corner of his eye he spotted Trenton Hassell headed his way. Out of instinct, Billups dribbled to his right and into the centre of the key. He caught Hudson off guard and split the Wolves defence. Garnett recognised Billups’ move and rotated onto the speedy point guard who then lifted himself into the air. Billups wrapped the ball around his body and passed behind his back to his left. The ball fell right into the hands of an open Rip Hamilton. Hassell turned and sprinted at the Pistons’ sharpshooter who pump faked once before taking two dribbles towards the elbow. Hamilton stopped for a jump shot and flicked his wrists launching the ball towards the hoop. The ball seemed to spin through the air towards it target. It hit the inside of the rim and came right back out towards Kevin Garnett. He rebounded and turned to throw the ball down court. Eddie Griffin picked the ball out of the air and took a few dribbles before taking a step and then dunking it. Everyone in the Target Centre was on their feet as the Wolves increased their lead to 9 points.

“Second win in a row baby!” shouted Garnett as he pointed his finger into the air.
The Wolves were celebrating after their second win, this one against the Pistons and the last was against the Heat. The Pistons headed towards the tunnel that would lead them to the change rooms. Billups and Rasheed Wallace were shaking their hands as they couldn’t believe that they had let the Wolves get away with a win. Furthermore, the Pistons would remain tied with the Cavs for the lead of their Division. Flip Saunders waited for the rest of his coaching staff to catch up with him, then they all left the court hurriedly. The Wolves were still on the court celebrating as the fans were on their feet cheering. Sit smiled and walked with Mark towards the tunnel leading to the press conference room. At the entrance to the tunnel, Peter Robinson was waiting.
“Hey man, what up?” Sit asked, giving him a high five.
Robinson, known as the ‘Cable Guy’ around the NBA because of his affiliation with ESPN, gestured to the young man next to him, “Sit, this is Alex Buckley. I think he would thrive in your Public Relations office.”
“He’s a bit young, you sure he would be a good guy for the job?” Sit questioned him.
“You’re a bit young for being a GM?” Robinson argued back.
“You got a point,” Sit nodded, “So kid, what you do?”
“Philadelphia Inquirer Sir,” Buckley replied, “Sports writer.”
“I know you!” Mark suddenly interrupted, “You have your own column? I remember, you’re the dude who said you were tired of Webber and Iverson not working together.”
Buckley nodded, “That was me Sir.”
Mark laughed, “That was a good article kid. Good work.”
Mark left them for the press room before Peter and Alex looked at Sit.
Sit shrugged, “Whatever kid, I will get someone to give you a ring for an interview. Just don’t get too excited.”
Sit followed Mark for the press room as Peter and Alex did the same but making sure Sit didn’t know they were also going.

* * *

“This is the NCAA Final featuring the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils! We are here live in Indianapolis for this NCAA Final, which should serve as a very exciting rematch of the Atlantic Coast Conference finalists,” the ESPN sports reporter announced, “Tonight, Moses Chara plays his last game for Duke and looks motivated to beat the red-hot North Carolina squad. The Tar Heels are lead by freshman Reshawn Tyson who set a record 59 points only a few nights ago. Tyson’s future is still undecided as of now but many believe he may not declare for the NBA!”
A lady then appeared on screen and started to speak, “And tonight, we may also witness a future rivalry between two stars. Tyson and Chara have played against each other before and in their last meeting, it was Chara who had the last laugh.”
“So sit tight at home folks,” the man continued, “We’re in for a thrilling NCAA Final tonight on ESPN!”

Moses Chara stood at half court next to another man who was dressed in a suit. There were no other players there and the only people on the court were guys who were setting up cameras and media equipment. Flo sat next to Mark in the second row. The two watched what was going on as Duke Fans gave their star Senior a standing ovation.
“It’s going to be a good game,” Flo said to Mark, “I think Moses will win it for Duke.”
Mark agreed, “Yeah, I think he’s a better choice hey? If we need to draft a player, I would pick him.”
“He can contribute right away. If we want to keep Kevin happy, we have to pick him and plus, he’s not a bad player.”
Mark nodded, “I guess he’s perfect for us. He can play the guard and forward spots and maybe even some time at the centre.”
Then a big boned man sat down in the empty seat next to them. He was handcuffed and was joined by another guy who was wearing a uniform of some sort.
“Man X! Long time no see!” Mark shouted at the man who had just sat down.
Flo looked at the two, “You know him?”
Mark laughed, “We used to ball in high school? Oh man, what’s with the handcuffs… something you’ve never told me about? Maybe sexual preference by any chance?”
Andrew Watson laughed, “Even if I was homosexual, I wouldn’t be with this dude. He’s scum.”
The guy next to him took a little device and pressed a button as Watson yelped in pain.
“Take that man, I got this taser and I’m going to use it whenever you’re being an ass to me,” he said.
Watson stammered, “That’s abuse. Why am I treated like this? All I did was fraud.”
“Ouch!” Watson called out in pain, “Don’t do that!”
“Respect my authority bitch!” the guy yelled.
Flo and Mark looked horrified as the two kept arguing and the guy next to Watson kept using the taser on him. Flo peaked at the name tag on the man’s uniform and saw his surname: Srbija.
Then a loud voice boomed over the PA system and the main lights went out.
“Now, please welcome Jerry Colangelo of USA Basketball for a special presentation involving Duke’s Moses Chara,” the announcement was made over the PA system and everyone in the stadium was up on their feet.
Jerry Colangelo was the man in the suit and he began to speak into the mic, “It is with great pleasure that I present Moses Chara with a Team USA jersey. I hope that you will accept this gift with pride and accept our invitation for you to join our national team program.”
Everyone began to chant his name and cheer out as Chara shook hands, took the jersey and put it on before taking the mic to say a few words.

Meanwhile, Reshawn Tyson was stretching in the changing room. His childhood friend Rocky Akonnor was getting his ankles strapped while Coach Williams watched Moses Chara live on a TV screen in the room. Sit quietly slipped into the room but before he could tap Tyson on his shoulder, Bobby the team trainer grabbed Sit and swung him into a bed.
“Hey man, get your hands off me!” Sit yelled in anger and pain.
Bobby shouted, “What are you doing sunshine?”
“I’m here to see Ty,” Sit shook his head and screamed, “Let me go!”
Another man in a business suit walked out, “Let him go Bobby, I think he’s important.”
Bobby let Sit go and Sit dusted his suit off, “Next time, pick on someone you can afford to bash.”
Sit shook hands with the other man in the suit and introduced himself.
“I’m Thierry, nice to meet you,” the man said in a deep French accent, “I am the agent of Mr Tyson. We should have a few words about my client no?”
Sit nodded and the pair left the room to speak about Tyson’s future. Sit trudged to his seat next to Mark in the stadium. The players were just warming up on the court and Sit had just had his talk with Tyson’s agent.
“You look gutted,” Mark said.
“Yeah, Tyson’s agent is a bit retarded. He wants me to guarantee Tyson would be picked up by our team if we had a top three pick,” Sit responded.
“What if you don’t guarantee?” Mark asked.
“Tyson will stay in college for next season,” Sit said, “I can’t make any guarantees especially since its a few more months till the freaking draft.”
Flo joined in the conversation, “We should really pick Chara. After all, he’s trying out for USA too now. So he is really our guy!”
Sit didn’t look too happy, “I don’t know. This is all getting more difficult. We just need to get them in for workouts first. Then I will decide. Stupid Frenchman…”
Sit looked over past Flo and saw Watson, “Oh Andrew, welcome back out of prison. Hope shorty over there isn’t too much of a burden?”
Andrew chose his words carefully, “No, it is a fine night tonight. I like to go out with prison guards.”
Srbija kept a close eye on Watson as Sit said to the big man, “Ok Andrew. Your job as a player scout for us is track the statistics of tonight’s game. The NCAA stat keepers do a horrible job so can you do it for us?”
Andrew nodded, “Don’t worry. Keeping stats and analysing them is my specialty.”
Flo laughed, “After impersonating and cheating the government.”
“I am not a fraud!” yelled Andrew.
Srbija jabbed his taser into Watson as the New Zealander cried in pain.

Moses Chara proudly stood near half way, this time in his Duke jersey. Reshawn Tyson walked over and shook his hand.
“Good luck,” Tyson said to Chara.
“You will need it freshman,” Chara laughed.
“Hey man, I’m just trying to be nice!” Tyson angrily responded.
Chara shook his head, “This ain’t the time to be sucking up buddy. And it’s not the time to try to be nice.”
Tyson was getting angry, “Man, you’re overrated. I’m just being a good sport.”
“Do it after the game,” Chara shouted, “Oh wait. After the game, you will be crying because you won’t be able to hack it that my team is going to win.”
Tyson shoved Chara backwards but the taller senior stood his ground. Tyson swung his fists at Chara and Chara blocked him with his arms. The refs and other players saw what was happening and rushed to separate the pair. Rocky grabbed Tyson back by his collar and tried to calm him down and took him back to their bench.
Roy Williams was fuming, “Don’t fall for that boy. They’re trying to rile you up so you can do crazy shit like what you just did.”
Akonner whispered into Ty’s ears, “Show him what you got on the court boy.”
Tyson drank some water and wipe his head with a towel and nodded. He returned back onto the court amid the booing that greeted him.
The ref walked up to Tyson, “That’s your first and final warning. Any more funny stuff and you will be ejected ok?”
Tyson was about to protest the call but he kept quiet before the ref bounced the ball a few times. He was at the mid-court circle and ready to throw it up for the jump ball. Chara stood across from Tyson and mouthed a few words at him.
Tyson mouthed back, “Screw you.”
In his head the young guard kept repeating to himself, “Tonight, it’s my time to shine. Moses, you’re going down.”
The ref blew his whistle and the ball went up.

This is becoming a harder choice between Chara and Tyson. Chara doesn't seem to have much sportsmanship in him. I'd still stick with Tyson. Can't wait to see the results of the game.

Nice man, I'm Tyson's agent... pick him... as Sac-1 said, Chara doesn't have sportsmanship

Yeah I agree with Flo, one of your best chapters ever (Y) Im still leaning towards Chara, although he sounds like a bit of a fuck head, maybe his attitude would be too big for KG

- Thanks Funky! :D I'm not that great tho, i swear!

Sac-1 wrote:This is becoming a harder choice between Chara and Tyson. Chara doesn't seem to have much sportsmanship in him. I'd still stick with Tyson. Can't wait to see the results of the game.

- That's one for Tyson (Y) I like Tyson too... I think he got potential... hwoever, Chara is more experienced and is good... he's a projected top 3 pick...

- You mean it man??? Sweet... well, tell me what's so good bout it haha... but all stories/shows, etc get good in the middle-end... so its all good. :D And Chara to Team USA is just a sign to show everyone how good he is... Go the Wolves and we shall see who wins out of Chara and Tyson.. i take it you still like Moses yeh??? After all.. ur counterpart i nthe story is supposed to be rooting for him but of course, they didn't hear what happened between those two!

Thierry wrote:Nice man, I'm Tyson's agent... pick him... as Sac-1 said, Chara doesn't have sportsmanship

- You're only saying that cause ur his agent... plus, the story goes that he might not declare for the NBA... we will see what happens next! :)
