Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Do you guys think they will get rid of the primacy bug that is in NBA Live 06? I don`t really think so... because of what the programming is made. I mean, if a 99 primacy guy gets injured and the next-highest primacy player has like a 60 rating, I think the team would score 40 points in their games... there`s an imbalance there in terms of FGA per primacy rating per overall team primacy ratings, if that makes any sense.
So what do you think? Will we get rid of it or not? Can somebody ask an EA official about this?

Maybe they should add a clutch rating and shooting tendancies like 2K6?

It doesn't work like that. It will just be divided up differently, with the player with the next highest Primacy rating getting the lion's share of the attempts and points. When the injured player returns, it goes back to normal. At least that's how it works in theory, but the recalculations mess that up. If they were changed back to their previous Primacy ratings when the injured player returns it wouldn't be so bad. But it would be much better without the recalculations.

Yes ^^^ I know, but what I was saying is how it works right now. AND IS VERY BAD. Of course, I just keep telling myself "this is just a game, maybe that's how things changed after (superstar player) got injured... and came back not "healthy enough" (although he is 100% back)).
Of course they should get back to what you were saying with dividing up differently (nexy highest primacy player getting the shots / related to the next player after him). So if a team has some 60/56/52 primacy players after the 99 player is injured, they should take like 14/10/8 FGA per game (just an example).
But the question is, does anyone know how is going to be for NBA Live 07? Or at least can anyone ask an EA Official about this? Maybe they can correct until the actual release of the game if we put this "bug" on the table.

I should hope it's fixed. Hopefully we will have an answer to that question (amongst others) very soon.

Primacy is one of the biggest issue in Nba Live. I hope EA can find a way around it and fix this enormeous problem.

Simply making it a visible rating again and removing the recalculations would solve a lot of problems.

Yes^^^ make sure you ask about this Andrew if you get the opportunity!

Andrew, if EA ignores the Primacy Bug I'll be sure to make another auto-primacy fixer.
However, they should be able to notice it.

What auto-primacy fixer are you talking about?

Way ahead of you on that one.

Luckily for me, Xbox NBA Live doesnt have primacy. (i dont think)

All versions of the game have it, it's a hidden attribute in NBA Live 06 though so whereas it can be corrected by dbf editing on the PC version, nothing can be done about it on the consoles.

Dwyane Wade rarely makes my Top 10 season scorers in my dynasties because his 3pt rating isn't that great, even when I put his primacy at 99.
Dynasty mode relies on guards to be excellent (above 80) at both FG and 3PT (as well as primacy) for them to make the Top 10 scorers charts each season. For realisms sake I crank up Iverson and Wade's 3PT ratings so they make the Top 10.
It's not a huge defect, but niggling nonetheless.

yeh that is kinda crap. hope they have clutch ratings

It's a pity because primacy worked well before. In Live 2000 for example, the good guys were taking the shots once you lowered every point-guards primacy...
But in Live 2005, it was a mess, primacy had absolutely no effects, for example even with a 0 primacy value, jason williams was still getting more shots than SHAQ... does they really test the game before shipping it ????
I wish NBA LIVE 2007 will bring back the Live 2000 mojo ...but the "let's mess up or remove what works well" credo from EA give me little hopes...

The best way to resolve the issues it make the primacy rating match that of the players overall rating. If a plyer gets hurt, his overall rating goes down and so should his primacy. This way if we edit and increase a player's rating, his primacy rating should go up too!

No, that would not be a good way at all. Ben Wallace has a high overall rating but he does not and should not have a high Primacy rating. That method would cause even more problems and discrepencies in the stats because once again Primacy is being recalculated instead of staying set at an ideal figure for that particular player.
The best solution at this point would be to make Primacy a visible rating again and stop the recalculations. It didn't work perfectly before but it was much better than how it behaved in NBA Live 06 (and much less frustrating to work with).

i thought live 2005 was better than 2006 with the primacy.... now it seems to be that every1 on my roster (bogut, may, richardson, pierce and j williams) are gettin about 20 each every game, and no one is leading the team

It had its share of problems with Primacy (usually after the first year in Dynasty Mode) but it didn't have the recalculations which made it a bit better and a lot easier to work with.
Wed Jul 19, 2006 4:21 pm
Basically^^^, they did recalculations after each year... instead of each game (or each injury).
