what is better ??
i can´t see de diference

Anastropic is best
Mon May 15, 2006 1:34 am
can you post 3 pictures with all three filters ?
Mon May 15, 2006 4:03 am
I'm not an expert, but i heard someone say that bilinear is fast but u get worse picture. Trilinear is slow but the graphics are better. Anastrophic gets u OK grpahics and isn't very slow during the game.

hehe .. i really dont see the diference

I can tell you, Anostropic is the best, Trilinnear is second best, bilinear is third. It all has to do with textures, the textures will be clearest with anostropic, i.e. the floors, shoes, facial features, stuff like that.

It has to do with how well the textures get drawn in the game, when you view them from far away and from a steep angle..
And as SilasDC said: Anisotropic filtering is the best (slowest), after that comes Trilinear, and last comes Bilinear filtering (fastest).
If you have a very good computer, run the game with anisotropic, but if have a 'not-so-good' computer, use trilinear or even bilinear.

ok thanks

Thanks for clearing that up Andreas.I myself didn't see the diffrence either

.But now I know.

Bilinear interpolates (blends) 4 texels which are closest to a pixel, smoothing the image more than somewhat. Trilinear simply improves on that and provides better, more accurate images. Anisotropic takes away aliasing smoothing the image further. These things are related to Anti-Aliasing, which you can toggle whether you have an nVidia or ATi video card. NBA LIVE 06 only provides 2x Anisotropic filtering, but you can increase it to 8 on nVidia's plugin and 16 on ATi, and you can increase Anti-Aliasing on both. However, these improvements may slow down performance, although improving image.

Good info MetalHead

How would one go about increasing it on one of those cards (ATI in particular)? Is there any way to do it just for NBA Live?
Fri May 19, 2006 7:33 am
Sure. All you need to do is go to ATi Catalyst Control Panel, which you can get by either selecting on the taskbar, or starting it in Program Files. Go the top of the window and go reveal advanced settings. From there, Im pretty sure you can select the anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering on the left.

And no, there isn't any way to set it only for NBA Live 06.

there is a way for ati, you have to download ati tray tools and then you can set every game to whatever AA, AF and other values you would like for every game.
