At the moment, I would much rather have them illustrate the gameplay, not the graphics. I've played 04 for two years, I don't care so much about the graphics. It's the game, and how it's played. Hopefully, EA will realize that.

Considering it's making its debut on a new next-gen system they're bound to show the graphics off first. Details on the guts of the game always come later. Let's hope it's good news when it comes.

Could someone please upload the GameSpot video somewhere else or give me a link of it from another site or something? I am having trouble downloading it. :x

The first one that Andrew posted was fairly good for a WIP.

Like asdf said, looks promising, I'm not sure about jersey movements though, looks too... :| ,

Live 06 Next-Gen looked better, the animations look choppy... But it's still May...

Pretty gay imo. doesnt look like either of them whatsoever. But we can hardly tell because its only a preview of them running about etc. But jesus tmacs face is horrible.

For those having problems with getting NBA Live 07 demonstration videos, here you go guys:

T-mac's got his "sleepy" eyes, cool. Dwayne Wade looks like a crackhead, or Ron Artest. I like the "tech" progress, but like everybody else I want to see the gameplay progress first. I don't like the straight up posture when dribbling backwards. I like the quick Dwayne Wade dunk, didn't look like flosting at all, but the jumpshot did. Jersey animation is a bit jerky. I am looking forward to more previews.

Cyberfaces - looks like the Live community will be improving on EA's coughcrapcough work once again.

i wasn't liking the look of the dunks-they were done so fast :|

I know it's NBA Live forum but as an addition, for comparision, NBA 2k7 trailer:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7914552980528142558

If it comes to me, NBA 2k always looked much more natural and TV-broadcast-like but I've never like it's gameplay mechanics.

LOL at Kobe doin the robot, the set jumpers just look like they are practicing. Nash licked his fingers before a touch pass, I wouldn't want to catch it after he did that. I can see the defense is just standing around while the offense is doing what they want.

Take two is bringing features like signature shots, and signature likeness - Nash pulling his hair behind his ears, cheerleaders and mascots during timeouts, Rasheed Wallace shoots a 3 like Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton drives like Rip. One cool thing I read was Nash holding the ball for the last shot during the last possession while the game was tied.

No 2k7 for PC? Then I'll never play it.

BTW, what they really need to focus on is improving the fundamental gameplay flaws they've had in the series for the last 11 years without fixing.

Looks like they might be, Wade takes a shot that is not jumping way up in the air. Shooting form is a major reason why the game doesn't play realistically. Now, will they stop having everyone put up Jordan-esque layups too? And will they add some type of body-weight system so you can't cut left and right at lightning speed, so that crossovers and ballhandling and all that will actually start to play realistically?

I doubt it.

heh..good work with those pics.

Just saw the video... I'm very disappointed. Like someone said before, I wouldn't care to play with NBA Live 2000 graphics but with a great gameplay. Animations look weird, and I'm sure they're focusing these next-generation games on the facial thing, like they did last year with the freestyle superstars. The first vid always reveals all about the game: if they have focused on graphics or on gameplay... I think it's obvious. At least we have NBA2K series.

Sat May 13, 2006 6:51 am

Egarrett wins the thread.

They look really chunky. Goddamn. The jumpshots look like hell, too. I realize this is a very early version, but that's my two cents.

wonder if what the demonstation really means. Does it mean that the PS3 is technically capable of doing what the PS2 cannot? i.e the so called procedural awareness, and footwork etc. Would it then mean it's a hardware limitation, not a software programming issue?

Yeah i was wondering about that too.. PS3 has way more power than any other consoles.. I'm pretty sure EA knew how to implement those footwork and stuff way before but ps2 and other consoles could not handle it. Now ps3 has like what, 8 cpus? It has way more space to put all those physics codes and other things without having to lose something else. I guess you can put it as ageia physx handling all the physics codes for pc.
Since the playstation 1 came out, pc gaming cannot improve without the improvement of game consoles. Hopefully you guys understood what the hell I was trying to say lol

Should be a nice pickup visually...cant wait to see what they have in mind for improving the longevity of the game in regards to dynasty and gameplay.

Must admit though, 06 on the 360 sucks the big one...but it still kicks ass visually on my new 42 inch high def plasma. ;)

Mon May 15, 2006 9:10 pm

I know it's early but from what I saw in the video demonstration the animations are all inaccurate. I do like the direction that EA is going towards trying to fix the animations. I find the movement of the jerseys to be especially irritating.

Mon May 15, 2006 11:41 pm

those pics remind me of gumby. it's like modeled from a clay or something.

graphics has been the real deal in consoles today. but imho, the gameplay of nba live hasn't changed much since 2000. basketball is still basketball. recently, nba live doesn't change its engine. nba live 06 is like playing nba live 2005 with different slider settings. only some moves are added together with graphics improvement. We should really be asking for bug fixes (like the unblockable layup when you're under the rim, fss hookshot and the like) rather than gameplay because almost all players have different preferences in their sliders. So when you ask about gameplay, EA would be thinking.. "adjust the sliders. we gave you the freedom to adjust it from 0 to 100."

notice there are no cheats in this game.. coz you can adjust the sliders. i would like it when the sliders can just be activated after entering a cheat code. because that's what the sliders can do.. it allows you to cheat! yeah you can say that it also allows you to create the most realistic gameplay. but i challenge EA that they put the most realistic sliders to the default settings so that every tweak in the abilities would be called a cheat. they're playing safe by letting us adjust the sliders on our own.
