are you familiar with dbf editing?

Programs you need:
EAGE
A DBF editor
A good paint program

1. Create your player in the game

2. Save the rosters and remember the slot #

3. Locate NBA Live 2003 folder in My Documents and opens saves and

your roster slot #. Open the players.dbf in the roster slot folder with a dbf editor

4. Locate your created player's line on the bottom of the file. Change your player's fields ID7 and the other field beside it with the same 7-mark digit as followed: The current number/letter digit should be changed to the 7-letter player name, using your created player's name as followed:
example: kobe bryant -> kobryan, yao ming -> yaming_

5. Save the file

6. create a same named folder into yourmainnbalive2003\render\xplayer\ (not the one in My Documents)

7. Insert a downloaded skin file in there (you can use my eric snow's accessory file ersnow__acc.fsh as a base, dload it from my site.

8. Open xplrcmn.viv from the nbalive2003\render folder.

9. Browse the skin you would like to use as a base and save it as an image. You can also browse any bands from the plrdetails.fsh file in the xplrcmn.viv file and save them as images as well.

10. Open the skin file with your paint program and modify it as you like (you can paste the bands on the skin and insert custom numbers on them too ). Save the image when you're done.

11. Open \render\xplayer and your players folder and open the skin file.

12. Select import wizard and the first option, browse your new skin image and finish

13. You're done, enjoy you're custom accessory!!!

REMEMBER, (enough) practice makes perfect!!!

this is an issue that gets asked (at least from me) a lot, I guess it would'nt hurt making this a sticky :)

thanks alot finnboy!
i'll get working on it! hahaha

hrm let's see
i opened the players.dbf file with excel
then i changed the fields "id7" and "playerpkg" to my players name.. in this case , Nick Wong = niwong_
i closed the file and saved changes

then i used an existing acc fsh file from another patch and imported my new bitmap into that...
then i renamed that to niwong__acc.fsh and put it into the render/xplayer/niwong_ folder

it doesn't work!
the game doesn't crash or anything, it just shows the normal random accessories that created players get!

help!

If you want to edit the bands and such for a created player (presumable without a cyberface) then you just go to "edit player" in NBA Live. :?

I'd rather use a REAL dbf editor like DBF Commander or CDBF :?

Could anyone else give some help as well?

Wed Jul 02, 2003 1:21 pm

well nick, i want to create custom accessories with my own logos, numbers, etc. on them.
obviously if i just wanted normal accessories i wouldn't hav made this post. :?

Thu Jul 03, 2003 12:00 am

I've done that in my game and it works!!! Do you have customart enabled?

Thu Jul 03, 2003 12:58 am

yeah i have customart set to 1
i mean i use so many patches from other people
it can't be anything with my fsh because i tried renaming it to kobryan_acc.fsh and put it into the kobryan folder and it worked fine!

it works with all the normal players that i've tested... it just can't work with created players!

but i can get shoes and practice gear to work with that created player using a folder with his code.. ZAZZZDK or something...
but when i rename the acc file to zazzzdk_acc.fsh... it doesn't work

changing it to the players name in the players.dbf doesn't work either..

Thu Jul 03, 2003 1:50 am

ok i got it working
instead of editing the players.dbf in the save folder,
i edited the players.dbf in the database/currentdb folder

changed ISCREATED and ISGENERATED to False

then the accessories worked
but now my players head is completely black except for his eyes and lips!
he looks like a monster!
anyway i got the face and hair i've been using from the xpotato.viv file, but the nose and head shape is different from before.. any help on this now?

:o

Thu Jul 03, 2003 3:52 am

now you need to get the correct headshape, I don't know where created player headshapes are stored so don't ask me. You could also try finding a headshape that looks like yours of another player, ie. Kobe, and take the .o files from the kobryan, fsh in the .viv and rename them to your player. Then create a cyberface that will work with the headshape.

thanks for the help!
i'm done making it all now! :)

Thu Jul 03, 2003 2:17 pm

u can't use the created player headshapes

I presume that you hadn't saved your rosters. And the face looks weird, cause the game now looks for the heasd files from the new folder and doesn't find it.

Thu Jul 03, 2003 3:16 pm

everytime you edit your rosters, make sure you ALWAYS load them....once being a newbie :o, i kno these mistakes happen....(shucks, even vets do it )
