thx for interest, hope I can make it an exciting game.

thank you, yeah I will need it, Cavs are really strong especially their guard defense could cause problems to my playing style.

cwebbiverson wrote:Nice preview. Good luck against LeBron and the Cavs.

thx, I´ll do my best to keep LeBron of the basket.

That Curry block is awesome!
Yea also can't wait the all-star weekend, seems that we'll do it at the same time, mine also is coming soon Smile

thx, yeah balanced offense is my plus, but not only cuz of me but my players, no one who is extra-good in scoring.
I didn´t think I could block this dunk, I saw myself pretty posterized, but than he did a block, just cool :) .
All-Star weekend will be fun, and as I said in your thread, I think I can say that before : with a Dirk in the starting 5.

thx, glad you like it.

Knicks suffer close loss vs Cavs, King James out !

Even injured, he is still the King, leading the Cavs to 98-99 win.

CLEVELAND, February 12th (Ticker)---
For the 6th time this season, the New York Knicks failed to build a streak, , loosing in Cleveland after a strong game vs the Magic 6 days ago.

The Cavaliers showed their great fastbreak game, and began strongly in the first.
Larry Hughes had 5 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 6 for the Cavs.
Hughes also posted the Play Of The Game in the first, a sick crossover spin move.
The Knicks connected on their jumpers after a slow start, Jamaal Crawford, who came off the bench added 6 points.
Eddy Curry left a big mark with incredible 9 rebounds in the first, 2 offensive.
LeBron James scored only 6 points, was doubled most of the time.
But the Cavs led by 1, 20-21.

In the second quarter both teams did better offensively.
Damon Jones scored 7 points and Flip Murray added 4 for the Cavs, who were without "The King" in the 2nd due foul trouble.

"That´s what you want, getting their go to guy into foul trouble, but we really didn´t use our chance to outscore them.", Larry Brown said.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas showed why he is among the Top center of the league in this season, he had 5 boards and 6 points.
The Knicks´ bench did very well, Jamaal Crawford had a big alley oop slam, Nate Robinson went through the lane a couple of times.

But the Knicks still couldn´t handle the nice defense and the fastbreaks.
Cavs led 43-47.

In the 3rd LeBron James returned, and exploded.
He had 13 of his 19 points, most of them 16 footers and two nice drives.
But his 3rd attempt to slash through the defense was his last.
He hurt his back and had to leave the game, wasn´t able to return later.

"It´s not too bad, I will be back after the All-Star Weekend, and I don´t think I will miss the game in Houston", James said, he probably won´t start, since Paul Pierce leads the votings for Forwards in the East.

With this nice performance by James, the Cavs had built a big lead, 10 points.
But the injury of "The King" gave them new confidence.
Stephon Marbury hit 4 shots, 1 three pointer and Quentin Richardson finally found his game, 8 points for him in the 3rd, including a trip to the line for three freethrows, after he was fouled by Aleksander Pavlovic, who came in for LeBron James.
But Larry Hughes and Zydrunas Ilgauskas did their best to keep the lead, 68-76.

In the 4th the Knicks played way better than the Cavs.
Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis had some nice plays, Channing Frye and Eddy Curry saved the boards.

The Cavs were only able to hit a couple of shots, Damon Jones and Larry Hughes hit two threes.

After a three pointer by Quentin Richardson, the Knicks were only behind by 1 with 0:40 left on the game clock.
The Cavs gave the ball to Larry Hughes who drove to the basket, but missed the lay-in.

Stephon Marbury went coast to coast for a layup and was fouled by Flip Murray.
He hit both freethrows, Knicks led 98-97, 10 second left.
The Cavs took a timeout.
Who would get the ball, with LeBron James being forced to sit on the bench ...
Larry Hughes got the ball, faked a drive, gave it up to Zydrunas Ilgauskas, the "Big Z", made a faked, got David Lee to commit, went past him and hammered it home with 3.8 left on the clock.
The Knicks took a timeout, Stephon Marbury got the ball and tried to slash through, but wasn´t able to hit, Cavs win 98-99.

The Player Of The Game was LeBron James, he only played 17 minuted, but had 19 points, shooting 7-9 from the field.
Larry Hughes had 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals, Zydrunas Ilgauskas also added 17 and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Damon Jones scored 18 off the bench.

For the Knicks Quentin Richardson was the high point man with 19.
Stephon Marbury added 15 and 6 assists and Jamaal Crawford and Nate Robinson combined for 24 off the bench.

The Play Of The Game was a spin by Larry Hughes.
The Dunk Of The Night was posted by Jamaal Crawford hammering down the alley-oop.

The All-Star Weekend is ahead, that will be the next big thing, after that the Trading Deadline gets nearer and I think I have to do something.

Sophomores top Rookies in a close highlight match

Even though the Slam Dunk Contest will be tomorrow, Sophs posterize Rooks, and win 122-123.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

HOUSTON, February 16th (Ticker)---
The Rookies of the last year, also known as Sophomores, proved that their one year of more experience brought them on a higher level.
Both teams played strong and showed some highlight material.

The Rookies best player was Chris Paul with 18 points and 9 assists.
Andrew Bogut and Martell Webster both added 18, too.
But a Rookie MVP would only have been possible with a win, because the individual performance by the Sophomores was way better.

J.R. Smith got the MVP award with 27 points and 3 rebounds, Dwight Howard was close to win the award with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Josh Smith had 3 blocks and 12 points.
Dwight Howard and Chris Paul still have the chance to get a MVP trophy, since they have both been invited to join the All-Star game in two days.

Tomorrow, the Slam Dunk Contest and the 3pt Shootout will take place, live here from Toyota Center.

thx, glad you like it, ye All-Star game rocks, Channing Frye sits on the bench in the Rookie Challenge, Steve Francis will praticipate in the Slam Dunk Contest.

Recap of the Rookie game will follow, but I lost the stats because I didnt know there is no boxscore.
And I have a problem, the MVP doenst get his trophy at the end of the game, so I think you wont see the pic of him receiving it.
I won´t make a recap like I usually do, it will be more just about highlights. (There were enough ;) )

Sat Apr 22, 2006 11:45 pm

Three 50s give Francis the title !
Steve Francis wins the Slam Dunk Contest in a close duel with Richard Jefferson

ImageImageImageImage

HOUSTON, February 16 (Ticker)---
It was a close one this year, but in the end, Steve Francis deserved the win in this year´s Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest.
Francis, in his 2nd appereance in a Slam Dunk Contest, earned the golden rating of 50 three times, only his last, were he needed "only" 46, was a 48.

Francis opened the contest with one of the dunks Vince Carter pulled off in the famous 2000 Slam Dunk Contest, were he defeated Steve Franchise.
He threw the toss and ended up with his elbow in the bucket.
A clear 10 by all of the judges, Larry Nance, Dee Brown, George Gervin, Clyde Drexler and Spud Webb.

Amare Stoudemire was next, but in his 2nd consecutive participation he seemed not to be motivated, ended up with 40 points for a toss and reverse finish.

Josh Childrees, a suprise for many, as he is not known as the highest jumper in the league started with a tricky one.

"It´s not all about leap, I think cool and funny or strange things are more worth, the judges seemed to think the same", Childress said.

He threw up a toss of his head and hammered it home reverse, 50 for that.

The last one was Richard Jefferson, he started with a great dunk, a behind the back toss and a behind the back between the leg finish, simply incredible. He got 50 for that.

In the 2nd round Steve Francis gave the crowd the next highlight with bounce toss and a flip plus between the legs finish, just 50.

"Simply unbelievable, I must admit I wasn´t too sure about the guys in the Contest this year, but they did really well", Larry Nance said.

Amare Stoudemire did a little bit better with his 2nd attempt, a nice toss at the shot clock and a reverse hammer, but not enough, only 45 points.

Josh Childress second was also a freaky shot clock toss, but his reverse finish wasn´t enough for the judges, but good performance by the youngster, 43 points.

Richard Jefferson seemed like he wanted to keep the sick ones for the 2nd round and only pulled off a windmill after a shot clock toss.

Image

Steve Francis and Richard Jefferson went to the next round, no doubt about the judge´s decisions.

Richard Jefferson had to start, and showed a great both-handed reverse windmill, 46 points for this one.

Steve Francis had the advantage to start as 2nd, and made a sensational left-handed hammer.

"His hand was like 70 inches away from the bucket, I mean, 75 ahhhh 80 !", Kenny "The Jet" Smith shouted.
50 for Francis for the 3rd consecutive time.

Now Richard Jefferson had to pull something amazing.
And he did.
He started an jumped from the free throw line with a 360 spin, hammering it home. 50 for that.

"Well, my best dunk ever, unfortunately not enough", "RJ" said.

Francis went for all, and showed a"Dr.J" dunk simply awesome, and a 48.

"He had the ball in his hands like Dr. J, wooow I thought I saw Dr. J flying there, this young fella is just amazing, awesome, unbelievable!", Kenny Smith claimed.
This 48 brought Steve Francis his 1st Slam Dunk crown.
Check the highlights, music by Lupe Fiasco - Never Lies, buy his album, will be out in June !! ;)

Slam Dunk Contest recap will follow, I made a 3 minutes long vid, hope I can get it down to 20 MB, and I have an important question.
I have unlocked the All-Star jerseys with the code, and downloaded new ones, but they dont work, just the same old jereseys, does anybody know why ?
