Why my game runs at "60 fps" ?

Mon Apr 17, 2006 9:04 pm

System specs: AMD Semprom 2500+ (64 bit)
Uli chipset Asus K8U-X mainboard
Ati Radeon 9550, 128 mb
80 GB hard disk
512 mb ram

Hi everybody,
My problem is, the game always run at 60 fps, whatever i do, even if i change the details to minimum, it still runs at 60 fps. The odd thing is, when the cinematics start before the game, it runs at 130 fps or more, but when the controlls pass to me (the toss) it decreases to 60 fps. And it stays like that until the next cinematic. When i take back the controlls, it gets back to 60 fps again. Is there a way to solve this. Because it really makes the game unbearable. Thanks.

60 fps is due to the fact you have V-sync on. And I can't understand how thats unbearable-its the same for everyone. Your fps isn't probably the problem. If you experiance choppy gameplay, close background tasks, and perhaps close some other unwanted progs, like P2P filesharing clients.

I managed to raise it to about 100 fps. So i think it is not the same for everyone. My problem is i have a very old monitor. And it does not support EDID. So my Radeon isn't recognising my monitor and doesn't make the right adjustments for it. So i disabled EDID, and made the adjustments on hand. So now it runs 90 to 105 fps, i think it is ok.

60 fps unbearable? 60 should be real smooth. Great that you fixed it to run higher though.

i think you're program measuring the fps is totally foobar man. 60fps is incredibly fast. in fact the human eye can only see about 40fps....
