Ratings Arugments

Andrew and everybody else who likes to discuss possible roster changes, I am tired of people coming on these boards and offering up weak arguments for thier roster update ideas. Alot of them are decent ideas, but they just aren't grounded very well. In my opinion, if you want to make a statistcal arguement, at least make a good one. Dont just grab some nba.com averages and call it good. Try John Hollinger of espn.com or 82games.com. these two resources are an excellent way to make your arguements. For example, if you want to find out how well a player rebounds or blocks shots, you can find thier block rating on 82games.com. John Hollinger has a usage stat which is a stat which shows how many possesions a player uses in a game. This would be helpful for a primacy rating. Also 82games.com breaks each players FG attempts into jump, close, dunk, and tip shots, and gives their percentages for each category. This is helpful to determine fg ratings and things like that. It also has a "hands rating" which determines a players driblling ability. You can find stats to back up arguments for guys like bruce bowen, because you can find out how much lower his opposing player's efficiency rating is each game, even though bowen doesnt block alot of shots or steal alot of passes. If anyone needs any help with these stats, I would be very willing to help you do some research!

The way Primacy works, I don't really think there can be an exact stats to ratings formula (which I don't necessarily like because they're too rigid anyway); for example, Steve Nash will still score a lot of points with a Primacy of 35 while AI sometimes doesn't score as much as he should with a Primacy of 99, despite everything seemingly balanced.
