Pippen?

Thu Mar 23, 2006 3:45 pm

I am having trouble finding scottie in NBA live 06 for xb0x. Is he even in here?

Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:17 pm

nope, i played them and he's also not there :(

Thu Mar 23, 2006 9:40 pm

He was not included due to licensing issues. Unfortunately the Legends roster is starting to get thin because of complications with including the players who have been retiring in recent years.

ho hum.......get the hell rid of it already EA.

The 90s All-Stars/Legends or the licensing issues?

Fri Mar 24, 2006 1:28 pm

the licensing. GET SHAWN KEMP GOD DAMN IT. I'm greatly less interested in a game if it doesn't have one of the most fun(if not the most fun) to watch PFs in the game.

its always up to EA to ruin games, if EA didnt make BF2 i bet it'd be better.!

the rosters. there's no point having them if they can't put anyone on them. they might as well use the disk space for improving the game. they can't very well get rid of the licensing issues, can they now?

Well that's what I meant. Easier said than done to overcome any legal obstacles or match demands for a lot of money to appear in the game, unfortunately.

Yep, this is entirely 110% EA's fault.

omgwtfbbq! I dont think its EA's fault, they wouldve got Pippen if it was an option, he's the greatest SF ever!

Just create Pip yourself I guess.

They could start putting in the younger 90s all-stars.
For example, Kobe and Garnett appeared in all-star games in the 1990s! You could include guys like Iverson and Vince Carter too, Pierce, Marbury, current stars who were drafted in the 90s. I'd rather do that than take it out. I know those guys are more 00's than 90s, which should have the kemps the jordans the malones but it's better than losing the decade to.... Tom Chambers and Spud Webb (who was not an all-star at any point, just a dunk contest winner).

Sun Mar 26, 2006 10:18 am

no.

you gotta have kemp. call his ass up and give him 500$ to pay a week's child support and put him in the game!!!!!!!

Sun Mar 26, 2006 10:33 am

Chambers was a all-star for ur info

Sun Mar 26, 2006 11:04 am

I agree something has to be done, either by finding a way to get those guys into the game, putting "dummy" players in (a la the "Roster Players" in NBA Live 97-99) and allowing the user to edit their names and info or simply scrapping the concept altogether.

sorry man, I was referring to webb there. And chambers... was on the downside in the 90s more so than the 80s. Even still, he wasn't one of the best 90s players wouldn't you agree? I'd rather see Duncan or Iverson in there.

I looked up some chambers stats
ppg
1990 19
91 16
92 12
93 11
94 6
96 1

The best year was '89 (age 30) with 27 ppg.

Pretty soon the 90's all-star team will consist of only Steve Kerr. In which when you play as them only he and not Marv Albert will announce.

Tue Mar 28, 2006 2:53 am

Steve Kerr is not the best thing that ever happend to nba live. Give me fratello any day....

Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:56 am

I don't get why EA isn't willing to use dummy players. There are always ways around it. Just have them have random names and then let you choose a name that the system will pronounce (something like what they do in college hoops 2k6) or have similar names. It isn't that hard. Soon enough we won't have any 90s legends!

Tue Mar 28, 2006 12:27 pm

If it's going to be impossible to get those players again, it's really a matter of deciding to do it as good as you can using real players, using the dummy players or scrapping the Legends altogether. The question is, which is the best course of action in the event that the likes of MJ, Pip and co can't be used? Not everyone will be for scrapping all the legends while dummy players would be unpopular if you couldn't edit their names from within the game (leaving console players out in the cold).

Tue Mar 28, 2006 5:59 pm

i say just get rid of it. dont know about other people, but i never use the legends. not with that roster anyway. use the disc space and dev time for things they always say they dont have time/space for every other year.

Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:09 pm

I don't think having the legends there actually takes away space/development time from other aspects of the gane, rather it just has an unfinished/"not quite right" feeling about it since the licensing issues prevent the Legends roster from being as full and "complete" as it once was.

Wed Mar 29, 2006 9:27 pm

everything takes at least some time. but either way, its pointless. get rid of all the jerseys, rosters, portraits and courts, and you have a fair amount of space too. better than playing with five versions of steve kerr.

Wed Mar 29, 2006 9:28 pm

Some time, yes, but since they're not actually doing anything with the Legends rosters aside from a couple of art updates year-to-year I can't imagine it eats too much into time that could be spent elsewhere.
