A border would look good. Everything else is pretty good. (Y)

*throws hands up*

Why don't you listen to me?

Mon Apr 03, 2006 5:25 am

I used the burn and dodge tool to match the lighting on James and Bosh, I don't see whats wrong with the lighting.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 5:44 am

The text is decent... but I guess its too much to try to get everything right in one sig.

Nbalive, I am in a frustrated mood. When I'm in a frustrated mood. I'm rude. Very rude.

I can totally feel Colin's exasperation. Really, what the fuck is the matter with you? People go from bad to better to decent to alright to maybe good.

Dude, you just keep on sucking. Now as I said, this sounds rude, especially for a person who knows jack shit about PS and I should in fact be encouraging you to become a better PS user etc etc, but that's what everyones been doing and you just keep on fucking sucking. It's not normal.

17 fucking pages people have told you ways to imrpove, 17!!!!!!!! Do you even comprehend that the best PS users around here don't have that many responses? How much more will I have to look at your sharted out pieces of crap? Don't you get it by now? It's awful. Compare your work to other peoples' work, how do you have the balls to post it & actually ASK if it's any good?

SEVEN FUCKING TEEN PAGES!!!!!!!!!

ok... wow

3 things you need to do immediately

1) start simple - don't flood an image with content or go for anything fancy right out of the gate. I know right now you're going through an experimentation phase, but if you do not get the basics right then you're going to get frustrated because you'll continue to make art that doesn't gel.

2) learn basic design principles - there are probably a lot of quality artists here that don't specifically know basic principles of design, but have taught themselves through observation and experimentation what feels right and how to present graphics to suit certain themes and moods. Actually learning basic principles of design will save you a lot of time. If I was to make 1 observation as to what was the most unsatifactory component of your work it would be the lack of balance in terms of placement of graphical content and color.

Do google searches for things like "basic principles of design", here's a little tutorial I found, it relates directly to web design but it's still relevant.

3) learn the core components of photoshop - a lot of people make the mistake in their photoshop infancy of using as a tool to create "cool" effects. Trust me you're not the first person to churn out travesties like this:

Image

What makes photoshop the most powerful 2D art program around is not the filters, adjustments, styles, or custom brush sets. It's the layer organisation and the masking. Run photoshop and through the help index look up things like masking, pen tool, shapes, vector masking, alpha masking, channels, clipping masks, layer groups, adjustment layers, and blending.

EndBoss posted that 7 months ago... 95% of it still applies.

In 7 months I went from something that basically looked like this to this. Can't you improve a bit?

Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:42 am

Can't you improve a bit?

Apparently not.

SEVENTEEEEEEEEEEEEEN PAAAAAAAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:07 am

Maybe someone could pay Jae off to lock this shit up.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:40 am

 yeah right, this is just too fuckin funny.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:34 am

Lol you guys are so mean compared to the other forums, you just like cursing me out for every sig I maker, I liked the Bosh and James sig .

Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:55 am

Maybe that's why you're not improving... you just think people here criticise your stuff because we enjoy it.

It just amazes me that you can go from sigs like this one:

To sigs like this :

Where it appears you used either the eraser or the regular lasso tool to cut out an image. Not only that , but it looks like you put a pink layer over the entire thing, blurring Bosh and James into the picture. That's where the basic design principles that Colin posted are supposed to come in. But really, It should be common sense.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 11:31 am

HE MADE THAT ONE.... 0_o, whoa thats suprising.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:33 pm

Maybe you should just give up, maybe you just don't have the feel for it. you don't know which colors look good together, how to make a certain area on the sig stand out or which kind of fonts to use with a certain style.

Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:43 pm

You've made over 70 things (over 60 sigs). I don't think I've ever made that many graphics in my entire life, and I've been playing around with various graphic programs for like 4 years.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 12:48 pm

guys its not that bad...jus the colors are a bit off(mind u i dont know wat i am talking about) ... i asked him to make me a sig and its not bad...i will jus let him adjust the colors...its pretty cool (Y)

Mon Apr 10, 2006 12:56 pm

^^Yes it is that bad. He can still barely cut a picture!

Which in itself is extremely sad considering it took me maybe 2 days to get accustomed to the pen tool using good tutorials.

Tue Apr 11, 2006 7:21 am

He needs to start using my renders

Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:08 am

They're not renders.
