It's very popular in Hollywood so it seems, with Tom Cruise and John Travolta, among others.

My friend showed it to our English class, everyone was supposed to talk about their term papers and instead of talking about it he played that episode (his term paper was on Cults)

That episode was great. I can't believe scientology people believer that shit

I've never been a huge fan of South Park, but most of the episodes I've watched don't even have chef in them, so this doesn't really bother me so much.

I hope they still retain the Chef character and have another person do the voice-overs. It's a way of saying that Isaac Hayes should just suck on his salty balls for being a hypocrite. I already have that episode, Trapped in the Closet, along with another banned episode, Bloody Mary, which pokes fun at Chrisitian beliefs of miracles.
(And I'm Catholic!)

That Xenu stuff is just hilarious. Them crazy Scientologicians or whatever they call themselves.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Chef suffers some embarrassing fate, popular as the character may be.

It ain't stop there

The battle between "South Park""South Park" creators Trey ParkerTrey Parker and Matt StoneMatt Stone and Scientology is escalating.

The dust-up gained steam last week when Isaac Hayes, a practicing Scientologist who has long been the voice of the character Chef, quit after objecting to a "South Park" episode called "Trapped in the Closet," which lampooned both the religion and Tom CruiseTom Cruise.

The skirmish continued this week, when Comedy CentralComedy Central abruptly pulled a repeat of that episode that was scheduled to air Wednesday evening. Showing instead was another memorable segseg which featured Hayes's character, called "Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls."

Blog reports pegged the mysterious episode switch to objections raised by Cruise, who, the reports stated, threatened to not promote "Mission: Impossible 3," the summer tentpole for ViacomViacom-owned Paramount.

A spokesman for Cruise denied that Cruise had ever made such a threat. "He never said any such thing about 'Mission: Impossible 3," the spokesman said.

While the "South Park" creators didn't directly comment on Comedy Central's decision to pull the episode, they issued an unusual statement to Daily Variety indicating the battle is not over.

"So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!"

The duo signed the statement "Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants of the dark lord Xenu."

Cruise denies it but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. This is a man who subjects the media to Scientology propaganda before they're allowed to interview him. He also turned down the extremely non-offensive role of Bart's "Big Brother" in "Brother from the Same Planet" back in Season 4 of The Simpsons, which they addressed on the commentary (Mike Reiss: "So Tom, if you're listening...you know, screw you.").

I looked up information on scientology at wiki, and the whole thing is true... they do believe in the shit they showed on the episode, which conveniently had "THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE"... I mean seriously, how fucked up can you get.
