Religious views

Postby Jona on Sat Feb 18, 2006 11:00 am

I was reading some Bertrand Russell, and it ocurred to me that I did not know the religious views (if any) of my fellow NLSCers.

Myself as an agnostic, do not have any. In fact I despise the concept of massive religion, but nonetheless respect it as if it were my own belief.

I've put a list of the world's "major" religions, if yours is not there just put "other". I've also grouped Prostestants, Roman Catholics and other Christian views together as you can see.

By a virtual show of hands, where is everyone standing? :)

I'm not sure. I don't believe in Jesus, to me it was just a guy with a beard who was followed by a lot of people. God exists to me when I need a miracle.

Protestant.

By the way, Roman Catholicism and Protestantism in completely different. One doesn't follow the Bible, and the other does.

Don;t you mean the Pope? Almost everyJudeo-Christan religion/sect follows some sort of the Bible in some form, don't they?

The Bible wasn't written to be followed "in some form". It's supposed to be followed all the way.

Ummm, no. The first testament of the bible is followed by Jewish people, while the second testament is kind of left alone. And Christians don't follow 'the law' of the first.

And yeah, Roman Catholics and Protestants are different. But to say any religions are completely different is naive. Judaism, Christinaity, and Islam all have more in common then they have different.

edit: And I'm Christian. Not specified.

My own, self-improved, form of nihilism. Couldn't even begin to describe something like that with mere words.
