Heiks wrote:It nice to hear that my sliders have worked for many of you.
I've played a lot of games now and like few mentioned before, the best results come with 10 minute quarters. Most scores are in 90-s, few over 100, some under 90.
I adjusted some sliders aswell: raised Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability, turned some fouls down and other stuff.
The thing is when I maxed the Shot Block Ability both teams blocked about 2-3 jumpshots a game, but they didn't cound as a block in the stats.
And I'm still having trouble with FTs. Whatever I set the foul sliders I always get 10 fouls and 10-14 FTAs more than the CPU.
Ohh, I advise to turn off 3 in the key, because that's generating way to much turnovers with Playmakers' offensive sets.
Can you post exactly what you turned down? I've been using your sliders and had made some of the adjustments you already mentioned(10 mins, 3 secs off) Thanks!

I'm using Heiks sliders and I like'em a lot! I'll be glad to see your new adjustements if you think they improve the play even more.
Thanks Heiks!

Every1,
Im looking 4 some good sliders. Im using playmakers right now-but their a bit easy for me. Are there any recommendations out there??? Im looking for realism and a good challenge. I want it to have a real nba game feel. Im a bit lazy or Id go throught every set on the sliders page-but thats a bit complicated. Also, sorry if this has been posted before-Im new here, but I have experience else where.
Thanks,

I suggest you use Heik's sliders. They are a great combination of freestylism(new word) and realism. I love how they feel. Or you could just move up to SuperStar with Playmaker's sliders.

So here are my latest sliders, still working on them.
In-Game Settings:
Skill Level: Superstar
Quarter Lenght: 10 Minutes
CPU Assistance: No
Shot Control: User
Rules:
3 Seconds In The Key: Off
Global:
Game Speed: 38-43* (I raised it cause the game seemed too slow at some points.)
Free Throw Difficulty: 91* (Use what suits best for you. The team should be shooting around 70-80%)
Boundary Force Field: 65 (Less TOs from rebounding & going out )
Injury Frequency: 35
Fatigue Effect: 45* (Few extra minutes for the leader of the team)
Charge/Block Foul Frequency: 45* (It was way too easy to draw a charge.)
Shooting Foul Frequency: 15* (I hate the animations, I don't want more than two of these drawn in a game.)
Reach-in Foul Frequency: 30* (CPU tries to steal the ball way too much and this caused foultrouble for the CPU.)
In-air Collision Foul Frequency: 95* (Raised due to lowering other foul sliders.)
User:
User Steal Ability: 16*
User Interception Ability: 19
User Shot Block Ability: 50
User Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 30* (Still not enough blocks.)
User Freestyle Effectiveness: 35
User Dunk vs. Lay-up Frequency: 5
User Substitution Frequency: 0 (Use what you like.)
User On-ball Defense Assist: 65* (To force you play some D.)
User Offensive Rebounding: 0
User Defensive Rebounding: 90* (Just changed it. I don't know, I guess it doesn't matter.)
User Fakeout Discipline: 100*
User Short Range Shooting: 33
User Medium Range Shooting: 36
User Long Range Shooting: 41* (I still couldn't shoot at a reasonable 3PT%.)
User Dunk Percentage: 45
User Lay-up Percentage: 33
User Adjusted Shot Percentage: 25
User On-ball Physical Defense: 100* (It was too easy to just go by.)
User Poor Release Shot Percent: 5*
User Double-team Effectiveness: 85* (I think it was too easy to pass out of a double-team due to the long time.)
User Pro Hop Effectiveness: 30* (Fewer TOs)
User Drop Step Effectiveness: 30* (Fewer TOs)
CPU:
CPU Steal Ability: 18* (A little advantage for the CPU)
CPU Interception Ability: 21* (A little advantage for the CPU)
CPU Shot Block Ability: 50
CPU Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 30*
CPU Freestyle Effectiveness: 35
CPU Dunk Frequency: 5
CPU Substitution Frequency: 75* (I don't know if there's a big difference. In my games the subs have mostly been made due to number of personal fouls.)
CPU Offensive Rebounding: 0
CPU Defensive Rebounding: 90*
CPU Fakeout Discipline: 100*
CPU Short Range Shooting: 33
CPU Medium Range Shooting: 36
CPU Long Range Shooting: 41* (CPU's 3PT% hasn't been high aswell.)
CPU Dunk Percentage: 45
CPU Lay-up Percentage: 33
CPU Adjusted Shot Percentage: 25
CPU Adjusted Shot Frequency: 25*
CPU On-ball Physical Defense: 100*
CPU Poor Release Shot Percent: 15
CPU Double-team Effectiveness: 100* (A little advantage for the CPU)
CPU Pro Hop Effectiveness: 30*
CPU Drop Step Effectiveness: 30*
And the stats that I have got in the last 5 with these sliders:
- Code:
FGA/FGM 3PM/3PA FTM/FTA ORPG RPG APG SPG BPG TOPG FPG PPG
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me (Wiz) 32.8/75.8 3.8/13.0 24.2/31.4 12.0 38.6 18.6 9.0 3.4 15.4 13.8 93.6
( 43.3% ) ( 29.2% ) ( 77.1% )
CPU 34.6/77.4 5.2/17.8 9.8/14.6 10.0 31.8 20.0 8.2 6.0 17.6 23.4 84.2
( 44.7% ) ( 29.2% ) ( 67.1% )
I'm still disturbed by the last minute tactics. For instance I led against the Spurs 85-83 with 30 seconds to go, Spurs' ball. They just missed all their shots and kept fouling me. I went 8/10 from the line in the last half minutes.

And it does happen a lot, to me atleast.

I'll begin testing them right away. The only change I will make is playing on All-Star. I think Superstar is a bit too extreme for me. Do you think lowering the Shot Block Ability lower the BPG? I think I will lower it to 25 and see how that works out. Thanks for the update though
Sun Feb 05, 2006 9:58 am
Heiks,
What is the point of turning off 3 secs in the key-but thanks, Ill try these ASAP!!!
Sun Feb 05, 2006 11:01 am
The point of turning off 3 secs is to reduce TO's. Using Playmaker's Playbook, the TO's are unbelieveable if you dont run the play right away. Heiks, I play a half using your latest sliders. The only adjustments I made were All-Star difficulty and lowering the Block Shot Ability to 25.
Suns(me) vs. Bulls
41-44(Score)
1. FGA's were great(we both shot 38 shots)
2. Turnovers were high for CPU(12) I had 7(just right since leave average is 14-16 per game)
3. We each 9 assists
4. FT's-8/12(me) CPU(2/2)
5. Rebounds were very realistic.
6. The spacing on the floor felt great. I had many fastbreaks due to their turnovers. Raja was exploding for me
To make these sliders even better, I would:
1. Reduce Block ability to 25.
2. Turn down Double Team effectiveness(Human and CPU. Will reduce turnovers)
3. Turn down in air collision(I would get foul on my FB's. I felt they were not real fouls)

Forget what I said about turning down in air collison. I finished the game with realistic FT's numbers(12/17-CPU 17-25-Me). The Bulls beat me by ten. Gordon unleashed his wrath on me. He had 29 points. I love how your sliders make them game run at a NBA pace. I suggest putting the game speed to 42. The only flaw with your sliders is that the double team effectiveness is too high, thus creating unneccesary turnonvers. Other than that, Heiks' sliders are the BEST sliders I've ever played with. This is only after one game. Keep up the great work

I got another question
Is there a feature, like in Pro Evolution Soccer, that the players get more and more tired if they have e.g. 2 games in 3 days, so that they haven't so much recovered till the second match and get tired much quicker? I believe it is so, but does anyone know it for sure?
Thanks, Heiks, for the update, I'll give them a try, your last ones posted were great
Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:33 am
I've never noticed a difference myself, as far as the back-to-back games are concerned.
Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:37 am
Andrew when are your sliders gonna come out?
Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:40 am
When they're ready and not a moment sooner.
Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:42 am
And about when is that gonna be? a month ,2 ,a year or what?
Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:51 am
Like I said, when they're ready and not a moment sooner. My life doesn't revolve around devising sliders or making roster patches for a video game.
Mon Feb 06, 2006 3:51 pm
heiks, i am very close to yours but still have problems with threes (and open mid range shots). i don't mind missing if the cpu is on a run or a hand is in the face but wide open shots from stars should go in. so i increased poor release shot on user from 15 to 35 and lowered 3 point to 40.
also, at 41 the cpu three pointers will never miss. it seems as if one player on the cpu will hit threes regardless of his ratings anyway. against LA i had vokovic go 5-8. he is rated about 55 or 60 for three. that would never happen for the human. so by raising the cpu to 41 you are giving them an advantage for shooting stupid threes with guys that should not make it. i have cpu at 38 and human 40.

Anyone have sliders for...
Superstar, 6 minute quarters, and the speed at around 42.
Someone firect me to where i can find sliders like this in this thread, or anyone got some new ones for me:). . thanks
Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:30 am
Sorry just to come straight out and request this, but I just started playing Live 06 again (first time in a few months) and want some realistic 8 minute quarter sliders. Any takers ?
Mon Feb 13, 2006 1:20 pm
Somebody can explain me what it is: "Boundary Force Field" and "User/CPU Poor Release Shot Percentage".
Thanks.
Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:48 pm
Boundary Force Field - At 0 it's easier to go out of bounds, at 100 it's harder to ga out of bounds due to the "force field"
Poor Release Shot Percentage - I believe this affects the chances of bad released shot going in. You know, if you release the shot too early or too late. Same as other shooting sliders.

I'm looking for some good slider settings. I down loaded the official prima strategy guide but was disapointed there was no sliders in there. I'm using Brad feet's slider which seem good but still the scores are a bit high. I want to play Superstar, 12 min quarters starting a Supersonics dynasty. I don't want unfair advantages or to customise them just for my team, that's cheating as far as Im concerned, if I lose than I lose that's the whole point is to make it very hard but not imossible to win so the computer has an advantage. I'm starting the dynasty mode with the original roster and then in the offseason make trades or whatever to improve the team. I used to play NBA Live 97 and it was just to easy going 69-13 and then winning the NBA title over the Indiana Pacers 4-2, very unrealistic.
Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:52 pm
A lot of people seem to be having success with Heiks' sliders, you might want to give them a go.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 6:00 am
nah, i fink playmaker's is the best out here, i mean it is so so so so so so realistic, not jk...
Thu Feb 16, 2006 8:44 am
yup, heiks sliders are great. i actually like his original one on 10 minute quarters. the modified/latest one, scores and other stats are NBA like but was having more turnovers and interceptions. But what i like is it's been more challenging playing against CPU and there are some inside shots that are missing.
