What is epilepsy exactly? Is it just spontaneous seizures, and how are they triggered? Does medication stop the seizures?

Flashing lights can trigger them. My brother has it. He needs terigtol (spelling) to keep it in check.

What happens is they go into violent fits.

Ahh, that's right, how could I forget  It reminded me of the time in Live 2005 and Live 06 during game stoppages and between free throws, the screen would flash and I've complained how bad that would be for epileptic people.

You are 100% correct.

Cy wrote:What is epilepsy exactly?

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder, supposedly triggered by erroneous electrical activity in the cortical area of the brain. It is also theorized (sp?) that chemical factors may contribute to it.

Matthew wrote:Flashing lights can trigger them. My brother has it. He needs terigtol (spelling) to keep it in check.

I have never heard of Terigtol. :(
That is a VERY strange form of epilepsy called (I don't know if this is in English also) Photosensible Epilepsy. This is the famous thing that happened when the Pokémon series began and kids in Japan started having convulsions apparently out of the blue. It was that damn Pikachu.

No, unless you're a cartoon character and have rabies. If a person is having a seizure (although there are a LOT of different types), the typical one (that is also fairly regular in psychiatric patients, called grande mal) induces muscle contractions, so the person may bite his tongue or inner lips and thus bloody saliva comes out of the mouth.

You should not trust Wikipedia THAT much when looking medical issues, sometimes the info is just put in there.

Philosophy things also, after we paraphrased almost an entire work out of Wikipedia, we got like a D because the info was all wrong. :|

Wikipedia's great, especially for research, but I'd be cautious, because there were some cases of specific pages or info where it has been misleading or incorrect, according to a couple professors and a news source... but other than that, it's awesome.

In rabies sometimes the salivary glands get an infection, so stupid amounts of saliva are produced, so that may look like foam. If you think about that shaving cream-like, almost gel-like foam, then no.

Saying Plato was one of the principal exponents of a radical monism is kinda wrong, don't you think?

I wouldn't know. English terms about philosophical standpoints baffle me. Unless I can translate them in Greek, I usually turn the page....

I was talking more of philosophy as each person's inner practice, not the study of teh established pattern of thought, though.

God, wikipedia even has listed the missions in the Flight school from GTA SA...

It reminded me of the time in Live 2005 and Live 06 during game stoppages and between free throws, the screen would flash and I've complained how bad that would be for epileptic people.

Most games have epilectic warnings but live 06 doesn't have it in the manual :?

Did you look at his pic and really believed he was 25?

Mmm sorry to bring this old thing back again, but c'mon people... sure it says he's 25, but his profile says he's born in 1992 . If you're going to lie, at least give it some more effort.

I remember rambling about how I loved it in NFS and suddenly Yohance ever so smoothly dropped it...

"Yeah, I just bought it."

I was going green with envy.
