Player Portrait Size

Hey,

What is the proper pixel size in height and width for a player portrait? I'm interested in making them, knowing full well I have the graphical capabilities. I just need to know the size and then learn how to convert them...

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's 128 x 128.

but u need to save it in png and make the background transparent

His face might be cut off, it cuts off about 1/6 of the bottom.

Can you make the portraits or any other files twice the size say you have a portrait (128x128) if you make it 256x256 or 512x512 will it still work?
