I'm sure this has been posted before, but very quickly:

Each team has a salary cap, which is basically a limit on how much they can spend on players. Teams can exceed the cap under certain conditions, such as re-signing their own free agents.

To free up cap space in the current season, trade a player with a big contract to a team that has a lot of free cap space, like Atlanta or Charlotte. To get ready to clear room at the end of the year, trade for players with expiring contracts (ie only one year left). At the end of the year you can let them walk leaving you with room to sign other players.

Yeah, I did fantasy draft, and now I'm having a tough time trade desmond masons expensive contract cuz nobody has space...

That's one of the downsides of doing the Fantasy Draft, it isn't exactly salary cap friendly.

So how would i for instance get enough cap space with heat in order for me to buy someone like Nowitski or Lebron James..?

Thanks

you dont 'buy' players. you trade them (in this case anyway)

just trade someone who is the same salary as dirk or bron

i traded desmond mason, ricky davis, and dikembe mutombo for penny hardaway and toni kukoc, for the sole reason that they have expiring contracts. I wanted to leave ricky out, but alas!

your crazy...

ricky davis is a great player, and you just get rid of him? the free agents arent as good as him... (N)
