v1.02 (fix) released...

Wed Dec 28, 2005 7:11 pm

No delays on this one! I've corrected a couple of errors in v1.01 of the current roster update for NBA Live 06 and released it as v1.02. I apologise for any inconvenience, the fixed version is available for download here.

Fixes in v1.02:
- Tyson Chandler's contract fixed
- ID numbers in players.dbf/appearance.dbf corrected
- Corrected Ben Wallace and Shaquille O'Neal's Freestyle Superstar moves

Features from v1.01:
- 2005/2006 Rosters accurate as of 26/12/05
- Player ratings updated
- Primacy ratings adjusted for better shot distribution
- Player positions, gear and data updated/corrected
- Player contracts & salaries updated
- Missing legends added, complete with cyberfaces
- Some missing cyberfaces added
- Teamgear updated
- FAQ section added to Update.txt

Again, apologies for the inconvenience, but v1.02 should be free of any problems (though keep the suggestions for ratings updates coming ;)). See below for a Changelog if you want to manually update a Dynasty in progress with the fixes.

CHANGELOG

If you want to update a Dynasty you've started with v1.01, follow these instructions:

1. Make a backup of your Dynasty save in case anything goes wrong.

2. Using a DBF editor such as DBF commander, open players.dbf

3. Locate Tyson Chandler. Change his CASH_YEAR value to 10600

4. Locate the first entry for Ben Wallace. Change his VALIDSSTAR value to 176 and his SUPERSTAR value to 160

5. Locate the first entry for Shaquille O'Neal. Change his VALIDSSTAR to 160 and SUPERSTAR value to 160.

6. Reconciling the IDs in players.dbf and appearance.dbf is simple, especially if you're using DB Commander or another DBF editor that allows you to work on two files simultaneously. Simply open up players.dbf and appearance.dbf, scroll to the bottom and make sure the very last entries in each database are lined up. Then it's simply a matter of changing the IDs in appearance.dbf to the ones on the corresponding row in players.dbf.

how come jermaine oneals superstar power n inside stopper r N/A can u plz fix that

Thu Dec 29, 2005 4:56 am

Nice job Andrew, we all appreciate it (Y)

I noticed that the players.dbf no longer orders the players by their team, is there any order to it that you noticed, or is it all completely random?

EDIT: I looked through to see who has Superstar abilities, and I saw a few who only needed like a 2-3 point rating boost to get a realistic ability, here's the list:

- Brevin Knight to Playmaker - O. Awareness 80 to 81
- Z. Ilgauskas to Ins. Scorer - O. Awareness 81 to 85
- Kenyon Martin to Power - Hardiness 75 to 80
- Jermaine O'Neal to Ins. Stopper - Def. Rebound 77 to 80
- Kevin Garnett to Ins. Stopper - Block 79 to 80

I think those are worth the ratings boost.

No. There is no problem with the dbf. As I've said many, many times in the past, if there's an error in the dbfs it will crash for everyone, everytime. I have checked the patch thoroughly, that has never happened. There is nothing for me to fix, there is no problem with the dbf files.

Looks like I might have to release another fix tonight. :( In the meantime, please post any other players that have lost their FSS abilities so I can resolve that in a v1.03 fix/update as soon as possible.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 8:25 am

don't you still let the superstar abilities be determined by the game using the ratings? .... so if you legitimately change the ratings down and the game does not consider them a superstar anymore then why bump them back up just for that? - I thought bumping guys for a side effect was a no-no.

The game as it came from EA was full of overrated players purely cos EA bumped them to make them superstars....we are still bumping guys just so they can have a few moves?

Thu Dec 29, 2005 8:42 am

A lot of changes I made were slight. Raising a rating a couple of notches isn't a stretch. Besides, a lot of the changes were inadvertent because I forgot about the additional effect of the Hardiness rating.

I won't change every player back but I'll consider a few, like Jermaine O'Neal and Kevin Garnett.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 8:44 am

I noticed Okafor lost his Inside stopper.
And Darius Miles is a highflyer now, wich i love :D

Thu Dec 29, 2005 10:59 am

Man do you think 1.03 is really necessary? cuz i think the ratings r good enough and ya i think jermaine should get power and stopper ins, and now i get it why you'r 1.00 release made kirilinko and webber N/A in the scorer ins section.. and i think webber should get the scorer .. and maggette lost his scorer out same as terry n' garnett without stopper ins :i
dwight howard no stopper ins j.kidd no scorer out, marion scorer ins, highflyer and kirilnko lost his all freestyle except stopper out his great player at both ends

and that it .. just few things i think u should review if u make the 1.03 and i dont think u should.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 12:48 pm

Well sooner or later I'm going to do v1.03 anyway. I'll review it tonight and if I feel like doing another update with a changelog I'll release it. If it's just a few changes it can be done quickly.

Thu Dec 29, 2005 1:44 pm

great work, but Kirilenko is the best european player (overall 88/89),
Nowitzki only (85/86) first Utah/Dall, second European?
Maybe Nowitzki is the best european player ever!
Nowitzki is better in PPG, RPG, FG%, 3P%,FT%,....

and Iverson overall 89, maybe he`s a little bit better

Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:00 pm

Sorry, I don't focus on the overall rating. I won't boost or reduce ratings simply to make the overall look better.
