Charlton Preview

Alexander Hleb is treating the new season as a fresh start to his Arsenal career.

24-year-old, from Belarus, said: "It is a new season - everything starts again," he said. "For me, it will be different. It's not easy to adapt quickly. My team-mates helped me to settle, but now it's a new season and anything is possible."

After a 0-1 defeat against Fulham, the Gunners will try to climb to the first spots in the table today, against Alan Curbishley's Charlton.

Robin Van Persie, who had a horrible game in the loss, will see the game's opening minutes in the bench, as Arsene Wenger decided to start Dennis Bergkamp.

Jason Euell and Jonatan Johansson will mold Charlton's striker duo; when Lauren and Philippe Senderos will switch spots in the camp (Lauren will play in the right and Senderos will make a duo with Sol Campbell in the middle).

In other news, Arsenal Reserves suffered their first defeat of the season after dominating a game where both sides struggled to finish off the many chances they created.

Coventry City's Graham Barrett struck with 11 minutes to go after latching onto a long hopeful ball from the back. The ex-Gunner lifted the ball over Manuel Almunia as he came out and it agonisingly rolled into the net.

I think it's like this but whatever, the game's the same so who cares:
PES: Europe, South America, Australia (I think)
WE: North America, Japan.

Tough loss against Fulham, I'm glad that you're starting Bergkamp instead of Van Persie, good luck against Charlton

2.It's much better than ManUre
3.It's much better than Pool
4.It's much better than hotspurs
5.Thierry Henry is the best forward around the world
6.Thierry Henry won't move to Barcelona
7.Cole's heart is here,in london,Arsenal
8.Mourinho is a madman,he isn't in the same class as Arsène Wenger。
9.ManUre won't be better than Arsenal without Roy Keane

Man.. Thierry, you're quite novel here...since we're an international community I bet you'll get a lot of support for this thread...I just wish I knew something about soccer...what's cool is that from your thread, it could spawn off some great ideas for fresh dynasties...

...since I got on this page just by your link...I thought at first that you were sending your NBA team through futbol training camp! ...I'm an idiot...

Captain Thierry Henry led Arsenal to a commanding 2-0 victory against Charlton, with two towering shots at Highbury.

The goals were scored at the 36' and 73' minutes.

Dennis Bergkamp provided the first delivery and Jose Antonio Reyes the second one, and Henry twice provided the finishing touch.

Gunners' pressure continued and when Reyes won a free-kick out on the right flank, his ensuing dead-ball delivery was inviting enough for Henry, to muscle his way above the Charlton defence and shot past Radostin Kishishev.

Henry joked: "It was a great ball from Jose (Reyes), and fantastic control from me. Both teams played well and it was difficult to come in, but we defended well and we won."

"If you lose this game it's not the end of the world... so you have to keep calm," Charlton manager Alan Curbishley said.

nice win man.. damn henry got a high rating. the highest guy on my real madrid team is ronaldo and he only has like a 7.5... might have gone up to 8 now cause he got 2 goals against Stahdalast or something

Tue Jan 03, 2006 2:57 am

The other day I was playing a World Cup with Brazil... Robinho scored 2 goals, won against Spain, and a pass to the Finals... and he got a 8.5... :D

Tue Jan 03, 2006 4:50 am

good win...i see that arsenal isn't popular at all...look at the pic where henry takes a shot, no people at all on the front seats!
