Greatest generated rookie of all time...

Tue Dec 06, 2005 10:41 pm

What rating is the best generated rookie you've ever seen, not just on their rookie year, but what they finally end up as.

On a dynasty I simulated, i had someone on my team who was 87, and he was the best generated guy i saw (i didnt really look at other teams though)

Anyone seen any 99's?

And another question, why so many fucking Isaakas? Their parents must be damn proud, having like 50 kids all 7foot+ playing in the NBA as Centers...

Tue Dec 06, 2005 10:43 pm

Not as proud as all of the Asian parents with their 6'2 SG's being picked in the top 5 every year.

in 2005 i had a chinese 6'5" center... he was not that bad lol

I always drafted undersized C's in the hope they'll be rebounding machines. Never happened.

The weirdest generated rookie of all time was this one guy with the last name Bird. He was like 76 overall rating, but he led a mediocre LA Clippers team to the NBA Finals against the number one seed (I was knocked out) and the Clippers swept them. Bird averaged 33 ppg and was named Finals MVP  So I had to get him, and I traded for him, and he ended up sucking shit for my team for the rest of his career. Some sort of one year wonder.

Maybe he was on a contract year

lol.
hm... takashi choi from paris france... rated 67 and drafted 2 during a draft in which i was just bored and simmed though a whole season.. btw he's black with blond mustache.
and was a 6'3 SF

hm wtf clips drafted him

Takashi Choi from France

i once drafted a darius miles wannabe in live 2005, forgot his name though. could play both forward positions (naturally an sf though), was like 6'9, could block and rebound, was an alright dunker, not as good as darius though, but couldnt make a shot if his life depended on it, also lacked handles (like all other ea generated sf rookies :x ).

i do believe i have found the possible best one.

Drafted at #1, predicted #4, he is 76overall, with excellent potential! He will be 90+ in 5years...

Wed Dec 07, 2005 5:13 pm

I've seen a 6'2 SG with 25 FG and 34 3pt, i think he was 64 overall.... i mean what the hell is the point of being a SG if you can't even shoot?? Some of the generated rookies are just ridiculous. What i usually do is draft centers, no scouting or anything. Majority of the of teams need centers, even if it's Jerome James.

Wed Dec 07, 2005 7:42 pm

it's ridicuouls that a player would have a 25 FG rating (and yet theres heaps), that means he can't even knock down open shots.

The best rookie i ever drafted was in live 2004, Christopher Cheaney, he was predicted first and I got him 3rd and he was 76 overall and an awesome 3 point shooter.

I still hate the fact that I overwrited my save game file so I only got to play 20 games with him     :x :x :x :x

i had a guy in 05, mazi cotton 76 overall, up to 79 or 80 at the end of the year(in the beggining of offseason) amazing3pt and fg shooter and his dunking was in low 70's too, he was drafted 1st overall by charrelotte so i traded drew gooden and that pavlovic guy for him(realistic trade  )

In 2005, it was very useful to draft a guy with last name Wolf. He was a 7'0 SF who would be a rebounding machine, and could knock down mid range shots also was a pwoerful big man inside. Dunno about 06 though.

Thu Dec 08, 2005 11:49 am

the drafts are random, so in one dynasty wolf might be good, but in the next he might suk

Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:51 pm

I simmed a dynasty for 8 years

A generated player as so far made it to 87overall! he is one of the top rated players in the game now that all the older players are on the decline

Rodrick Wolf. He was like 76 Overall, and to add to your Scouting report, he could also knock down the three ball consistantly, and he was a beast on defence.

Thu Dec 08, 2005 3:36 pm

Yeah Wolf was great, he could dribble too which is rare.

My favourite rookie was Dean Ollie in 05... he was undrafted and rated like 56, but in the one season I used him as a secondary scoring option he averaged 26/12 and made the All-Star game. I was playing on Superstar difficulty but for some bizarre reason he could dominate anyone in the post. Great fun to use.

Thu Dec 08, 2005 5:35 pm

Rodrick Wolf, you really couldn't go wrong with him... I remember having him in one of my dynasties... He could basically do it all... Take it inside, shoot the three, was a very good stealer and got some blocks due to his size... Rebounding was the only weakness he had, but it wasn't too bad...

I remember this one game where mr. Wolf was on fire... I just couldn't miss with the guy! Just could not... I ended up scoring like 50 with him... Man, that was a monster of a game... One of the most memorable moments in Live 05...

Just finished simulating the rest of season one in my dynasty yesterday and got me the #2 pick in the draft... I was like tenth worst in the league, so I really lucked out. I drafted this "point guard" with a speed of 97... Quickness only at 80 though. I played one game yesterday and he was overall 70 and coming off the bench. He shot like 2/12 in the game (I was pushing it and testing his skills and he isn't a great shooter), but he sure got to the line alot... He shot 12/12 from the free throw line. So he ended up getting 16 points in his first game... I put him on a offensive coaching session at the first opportunity... I'm pretty excited to see what kind of damage he can do at the end of the season and how he does under simulation...

Thu Dec 08, 2005 6:11 pm

best rookie i had was via a sign & trade....he was the #5 pick for Grizzlies....some Dude named Brown in 00, he was a beast in the post offensively and he cleaned up the boards. Pretty much like Tim Duncan, except not as lame.

Thu Dec 08, 2005 8:00 pm

i just generated this rookie and his starting rating is 76, i simmed to the next year and his rating was 85, he wont stop going up, his name is S.Cotter-2nd overall (Y)

Thu Dec 08, 2005 8:05 pm

hmmm.. the problem with the generated rookies names and heights.....I remember in last years, there was a dbf file that had all the names, schools, heights for each position and the probability that they would be used. I edited heaps of those names and heights and their respective probabilities so they came out more realistic.
The names are pretty screwed up... I mean... the probability of getting the first name "Homer" was the same as getting the first name "Alan" for an african american

Thu Dec 08, 2005 10:16 pm

i simmed to the 2035-36 season, and it is just stupid. the best player in the league is rated 83... 83!!!
the best player who is real is Gerald Green at like 76-77...

Fri Dec 09, 2005 1:58 am

The best thing about rookies is that they are wearing those funny ala Stockton shorts :D. Imagine real life blackie with that short lmao.
