What about a Scenarios mode?

Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

What about a Scenarios mode?

Postby Cyaneyes on Sun Nov 20, 2005 6:54 am

For instance, your team is Chicago, 4th quarter, 44 secs left, Utah wins by 3 and you need to score (twice) and steal the ball. Well, I miss MJ from NBA Live 2004 and those historical teams -Celtics 86/87, Chicago 95/96.., etc- but another Roster Player would be ok, if they change his height from 6"4 to 6"6, I think. It would help a lot if Scenarios have their own difficult and sliders settings, to avoid cheaters.

I can imagine lots of possibilities here, is there any chance of it being implemented?... I think so, but sadly I don't expect much innovation from EA. I am profoundly dissapointed with EA this year, hope next year they bring new things to the table. I mean NEW things but not arcadish SS moves...

that would be awesome! great idea
I remember Scenario Mode from International Superstar Soccer and was very fun to complete them all.

Funnily enough, it was a rumoured feature in NBA Live 2000 for a while there. Although it didn't end up in the final version the in-game saves function did allow users to re-create scenarios...with a little bit of work.

This would be a great feature, much like in Madden games were you could be the, I don't know, 1940 Lions and come around the Jets only by scoring 2 running and 1 passing touchdown.

In here, you could be T-Mac, doing the 13 points against the Spurs, or John Stockton against the Rockets. 8-) (Not mentioning MJ)

EDIT: Really old ABA games could be played in black and white. :P

I suppose the main hurdle is the same as including Legends and whatnot; without permission to re-create those old teams, the scenarios might seem somewhat half-hearted.

No doubt about that, but remember, in Madden you had WHOLE TEAMS consisting of "#4s" or "#55s".

If it were possible to edit players to rename them, that'd be a good alternative. Of course it can be done through dbf editing, but roster management on the console versions is severely limited.

Which idea is that zygis? Editing lookalike Legend/old-time players or the idea of a scenario mode in general?

I'd rather just have better, more fluid, realistic, non-ice skating gameplay.

That almost goes without saying these days (though we probably shouldn't stop saying it ;)). But if we're talking about things above and beyond that, scenarios would be pretty cool. Mind you, if we had in-game saves we could (with a little extra work) do that anyway, as folks used to for NBA Live 99 and NBA Live 2000.
