drastic primacy shifts?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 5:26 am

Anyone else getting substantial changes from year to year and sometimes even during the year itself?

Carmello Anthony went from leading the league at 29 points a game for most of the season to averaging a total of 24 a game by the end of the year because his primacy had apparently shifted from 90 to 10.

Anyone else seeing things like this?

I noticed Amare Stoudemire averaging 7 points per game (as a starter who was 90 OVR) in my Dynasty.

Quite troubling.

maybe you had heaps of good scoring allready

I might do a Pistons dynasty, I want Darko to atleast average 11 points and 3-5 boards.

There's a real problem with Primacy ratings being re-calculated this year. I can tell you, it doesn't make updating the rosters much fun. :(

This is such an annoying bug

Is there any chance this might get fixed by an EA patch? I've not had much fun with recent years of live so I didn't keep them installed long enough to find out if EA patched their games.

Is there something in the files to that can be modified to fix this? This is a hindrance to put it mildly.

this is a stupid queston, but what is primacy?

i never knew for sure so i always assumed it meant your prime or how well you do in clutch...

Primacy is the importance of the player and the man that usually get the ball. Well, that's what i think..

Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:09 am

Sorry about that.

Primacy is the players involvment in the offense. More specific the amount of shots he takes. So Allen Iverson who's the primary option on his team would have a high primacy whereas Reggie Evans who doesn't have plays run for him would have a low primacy.

The problem with these drops in primacy will really affect the stats of a player, especially if it's a franchise guy like Amare Stoudemire as someone mentioned or Carmello Anthony.

When Ben Gordon for instance in my league dropped primacy to the teens when I simulated games he would take 2-5 shots a game and score maybe 7-10 points a game. This was my 89 rated franchise player mind you. So when primacy is drastically wrong, it doesn't matter how well rated the player is, he won't be scoring many points. As for their effect in gameplay, I'm not sure if it is as drastic, but I do believe it has an impact there as well.

They've released patches in recent years, but they've basically been technical fixes. With all the work on the Xbox 360 version, a patch seems unlikely.

Judging by the reviews of the 360 version, I'm beggining to wonder what all the resources were spent on. EA probably had to cut down on spending to buy the exclusive rights to the NFL. I feel bad that my posts are so negative in this forum, it's just this is killing me. It's so easy to see how with just a few, I think anyway, minor tweaks and maybe another month of development this could have been the best game of Live ever. if Sliders worked for rebounding, players didn't shoot the ball into the back of the backboard on adjustments, and these drastic primacy issues didn't exist, I'd have celebrated this game as a return to glory. It's got some other issues, but I could live with those. I could even let go of the lack of a set screen button for player lock players. But these seemingly easily fixable problems just irk the hell out of me.
