this is complicated by the fact that i refuse to spend one red cent on anything related to nba live and my troubled obsession with it. i ain't buyin DB commander and microsoft can stick access up their assess. (i know, i know...asses). your new program will bring happiness to my life.
My DB Commander ran out too, but you can still use it!

FTW was saying that when the time ran out, the "mass edit" feature was disabled.
But I still don't know what that feature is.

Oh, i didn't get that...
I think the "mass edit" thing allows you to edit more than one row at a time... but i don't know.
BTW, you're doing a great job Qweet! Keep it up!

thats right psych, by mass edit i mean edit one column (fg, height, fatigue) for every player. make all players in that db file be faster, shoot better et cetera.
also db commander disables the ability to move a row from one db file to another db file. as in, if you wanted to put a created player into one of andrew's rosters.
okay, everytime i post in this thread, someone is like, 'what the fuck is that guy talking about?' so go ahead, bring it on....

Ok... i thought the trial run-out-thing wouldn't do any difference... thx for clearing that up FTW!
I've thought about if it was possible to exchange the last names with the nicknames... it could be a cool thing (so when you go into the game the status line says the players nicks instead of the lastnames... eg. if you did it with Sprewell, the in-game statusbar would say "Spree" instead of "Sprewell".
Just a thought though!

LOL Sorry FTW - I see that I never understand what you're saying... I have no idea what a peyote is, and i didn't know mass editing is... hope youre not mad!!!
BTW Thanks for all those responses, and thanks Psych for this :
BTW, you're doing a great job Qweet! Keep it up!
Since I'm still in the development stage i cannot implement these features, but since this post is not going anywhere, I'll come back and try and add these features when it is the right time. So keep suggestions coming.
Also, I have finally had time to update my webpage, and the jersey installer. The jersey installer is now in version 1.22xp. The changes are that it is optimized to run on XP perfectly (but of course it still runs perfectly on other systems), and now there is a jisettings.txt file that the program reads the other NBA live directory from. This guarantees perfect file moving for downloaded patches because the user can enter his own directory, whatever it may be. Also, I'm going to try and upload the rest of FTW's amazing jersey patches to my webpage.
So download the new version, and keep giving me feedback about all my nba live junk!

I ain't mad atcha. in fact, i'm on this great anger management program, but my psychologist is apparently ill. all i ever try to do is shake things up a bit. i guess its to try to make some people occasionally think. i don't think it works.
i wanted to amend what i had said in an earlier post. when running your jersey installer, i retested leaving the save slot empty. i went back and scoped my teamgear.dbf and it had all kinds of crazy looking symbols in place of where the ratings should be.

Hmmm... thats funny. The only times that is happened to me is when a patch was not successfully installed, or when I used a corrupted .jer file. That shouldn't have to do with leaving the save slot blank. Does this always happen FTW, or just once?
Sat Apr 26, 2003 8:17 am
first of all, i have not yet downloaded the latest version of your program. nothing personal, its just that I haven't been patching the past couple of weeks. second, it has happened more than once. i've been trying to use the make patch option and you suggested leaving the save slot empty. so, to make sure all will be well for those who d/l my patches, i tried to make an experimental .jer file and then install it on my backed up save files. so i made the patch for atlanta, but when it installs and i check the teamgear.dbf with my db commander, it says the team number is -8, the shpname and year are these wierd sybols that look like four I's with tildas on them.
i'm really truly sorry if this is an old problem that has been corrected in version 1.22xp. i'm even more apologetic if my post is incoherant. and above all else, i'm not trying to be a jerk(at least not in this particular thread).

No FTW... you are totally fair in what you are saying. In fact, I have just discovered this problem myself. When sending my Almonte jersey to deebee, the same thing you mentioned happened. I was not aware of it because it has never happened on my local system. I am going to try and work on fixing this problem, but it is hard, because I don't know of the cause. I will report in if I find anything. FYI, the manual installation method should still work fine.
PS I don't believe this problem has to do with leaving the save slot blank, as the one I sent DeeBee used the save slot 001.

Ok, I'm having trouble fixing this problem. But I had a new idea. The original premise for the .jer file was because telling the user to type it in was a pain in the ass for him... but how about we try something a little different?
I'm thinking, maybe, make patch still being there, but there is also a load patch button... and instead of doing it all without the user seeing... it just loads all the information into the fields without him typing anything, and he clicks go? It would still move the gfx files, and this way, the user could choose a save slot. I don't know if this is a better idea or not. What do you think?

I think it's a better idea! But, wouldn't it take longer time to install for the user?
Sat Apr 26, 2003 10:50 pm
It would take one extra click when the user would click 'go'.

Heheh, ok Qweet! Just do it your way!
Sun Apr 27, 2003 7:00 am
LOL we'll try it out, see what people think.. I just want something that will always work!
Wed Apr 30, 2003 9:55 pm
Qweet! i just has This
!!!
You should make a program that removes the DSTATS from a saved game...Do you know about DSTATS?
Wed Apr 30, 2003 10:09 pm
I could probably do that.. again based on the engine from my players.dbf editor I'm making... but I'm not familiar with DSTATS.
Thu May 01, 2003 4:40 pm
yo qweet
i downloaded version two of ur jeresy installer, but i thought the creation guide wud say how to make a jeresy but it dont so i havent botherd taking it to my cpu yet, ill wait to the jeresy tutoril is out but the players one sounds great.
Thu May 01, 2003 10:08 pm
Yes, the creation guide just shows how to use the "make patch" feature... which of course is redundant since loading in .jer files only works on some computer and not others. Which is something I'm trying to fix. So the tutorial is obviously delayed until I finish the JI
Fri May 02, 2003 9:34 am
there is so much info in players.dbf as compared to teamgear.dbf. are you going to do something along the lines of nba live toolkit, with sections for appearance, ratings, et cetera?
Fri May 02, 2003 9:54 am
My long term goal is to make a program with an interface like the toolkit, yes. First though, I need to finish the "engine" that powers this program, because I'm going to be making versions of it like Blotch, DSTAT remover, and another one. So the first release of players.dbf editor will just have a very basic interface, since I'm just making it for the engine. It will look something like this:
(Yes, I am making Rafer Alston 12'6"

)
So after I ported it to those other programs I mentioned, I would go back and make a more user friendly interface, similar to the toolkit.
Sun May 04, 2003 12:22 pm
looks sharp, Qweet.
i'm up to 177 on my teamgear ID. it would've taken ten times as long to do it without JI.
Mon May 05, 2003 12:04 am
Wow FTW... that's amazing.. what jerseys do you have installed? I created the JI but I've barely used it to install anything!
Mon May 05, 2003 4:45 am
every retro joint i can get my hands on. MJ's, Kobe8Rice41's, Dr. Seth's, the ehlomint Hawks, as well as my own humble contributions. it takes some looking, but there are quite a few out there.
my teamgear.dbf was a bit cluttered when the JI came along, so I dumped it and edited a fresh teamgear.dbf with your program just so i could get better organized and get all the accessory colors and shoes straight.
thats why i haven't patched anything in the past month. between being able to easily add retro uniforms and Jowe's complete update, I've been playin Live like its an old crack habit.
Mon May 05, 2003 5:54 am
oh man..you make some nice stuff there. Can't wait for that dbf editor and stuff :)
