Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Yeah, so here's an update as to what I'm currently working on,
Im making a fairly comprehensive jersey creation tutorial, that takes you all the way from extracting a jersey using EAGE to releasing a jersey installer created patch. Look for this soon, I hope that it will help people into getting into jersey creation.
I'm also planning on working on a new Blotch type program, because there seems to be some demand for one. I will write some of the file editing code first, and then decide on what kind of interface it will use. What I don't know is what a Blotch program needs to edit in players.dbf for it to be useful, Nick was going to tell me but he seems to have disappeared

so if anyone knows what blotch is to do would you please tell me?
Yeah, so keep an eye out for the jersey tutorial, and meanwhile I will remind you to download version 1.21 of the JI, because it gets rid of the popup box, and has some important bug fixes. Only the LITE version has 1.21 in its zip, so download that one. (You can download the PDK, just download the lite and use its EXE instead.)
Anyhoo, later.

i left my slot blank and didn't have any problems. anyway, other than making it easier for technically inept patch-users, it seems just as easy to fill out the info in your program, install and then just go up to the save slot and adjust it to accomodate all of your saves.
i don't know if i'm bringing anything new to the discussion by saying this. i'm really not sure if the peyote is completely out my system yet and i'm even less sure that this is actually a computer keyboard i'm using at the moment. please advise.

FTW, I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.
As for Blotch, I just wanted to know what you guys need the program to do.

you should be able to edit:
Colour
Hairtype
Eye colour
Eye wear
Headbands
Left & Right wristbands
Left & right forearm bands
left & right bicep bands
left & right elbow bands
Left & right knee pads
leg and arm sleeves, and any other bands that i forgot to mention
the ISCREATED field
the PLAYERPKG field
that's all i can think of at the moment, there's probably more to it...i'm no pro, i hope i helped anyway Qweet.

yes very nice work Qweet
as those who were on the development team knew for months, part of the Historic Mega-installer will include a PatchMaker Design tool for making many types of automated gfx installers from adding missing players to courts to logos to jerseys. it will be also have a user friendly front end GUI interface for those with limited DBF editing experince.
after some of the other graphic and programatic developments are complete, i'll make sure to have these features availble for users that are intersted.
keep up the great works! espeically the technolgy developments!!
peace!

Wow, the great Don Daily has responded in my thread... The best NBA Live programmer there is... this is great!!!!

That sounds great! Ummm... are you saying my JI is kind of redundant? Otherwise, thanks for the complements!

Actually that is a great help... I'm going to start off by making a simple players.dbf editor... then I'll add the Blotch functionality to it so you can quickly and easily edit those fields.. thanks!

As I mentioned before, I'm working on a players.dbf editor and when that's done I'm going to take its engine and create a new Blotch. I'm wondering if there's any demand for a players.dbf editor though? It would be like the Jersey Installer, full graphical user interface, runs on any Windows without an installer, and very small. If anybody is interested in this, I will release it as its own program, otherwise I'll just release the Blotch and be done with it.
Tell me what yall think.

...Anybody?

I don't understand the difference between the blotch and players.dbf... They both do the same things don't they?
Wed Apr 23, 2003 3:19 am
What I meant was...
With the original Blotch you'd release a cyberface for a created player, along with the bat file that told blotch to change so and so's iscreated field to false etc.. without user intervention. The players'dbf editor is just a basic DBF editor where you can edit any field, sort of as a replacement to say DbCommander or if you don't have Access. Its fun to edit players stats and height and stuff. The nice thing about this program would be that its would be free, small, cross windows compatible, no install file.
Does that make sense?

I just wonder if anyone would be interested in a basic players.dbf editor.

Isn't that kind of like
this

Isn't that kind of like this
Yes.... except (not to put this program down, it looks great) this one has an installer, may not work right on some systems, and may require you to download additional dll files on top of the initial 24.2meg download.
Mine would be just as functional editing players.dbf in 200, maybe 300kb download size.
I'm actually making a Blotch program; I just wondered if anybody would want me to release the initial program I create whose engine I will use for Blotch.

looks great so far

thats way cool qweet. my DB commander trial ran out and the only thing that sucks about that is that it no longer allows me to mass edit. i don't often mass edit in anything other than players.dbf.
this is complicated by the fact that i refuse to spend one red cent on anything related to nba live and my troubled obsession with it. i ain't buyin DB commander and microsoft can stick access up their assess. (i know, i know...asses). your new program will bring happiness to my life.
Thu Apr 24, 2003 11:46 am
Ahhh... finally some positive feedback! That settles it, I will probably release this as a separate program to new blotch.

I have never done "mass editing", so I'm not sure what it is. Could you please explain it to me so that I may hopefully add it to the new program?
Also, I started working on a tutorial that helps create jerseys from scratch and release them as jersey installer patches... is there anybody who wants this? Because I could finish it or spend more time on the new tool, whichever's better for everyone.
Thu Apr 24, 2003 4:48 pm
You're a legend Qweet.
Thu Apr 24, 2003 10:25 pm

Thanks Nick!!!
Ya so please explain to me mass editing... becaues i want to put it in but i dont know what FTW means!
Thu Apr 24, 2003 11:21 pm
perhaps mass editing is something like:
edits the attributes you assign to be edited of a player the user chooses within the players.dbfs in all the save slots, and currentdb folder, and such, automatically via a batch file (something similar blotch used to do)
Fri Apr 25, 2003 12:04 am
I was thinking that... but I didn't know that DBF commander could do that? Hopefully FTW will clarify.
