I wish I had downloaded it

I got the same feeling than you the first time I played NBA Live 06, but now I'm happy with the gameplay and having a lot of fun.
How did I solved this??? Sliders, sliders, sliders.
NO more dunking, last match I dunk only once, in a fast break and got dunked twice.
I also got rid most of the superstar freestyle by disabling them in the rosters menu, I just left the defensive freestyle for a few players, avoid the Highflyers and Power Superstars (Stoudamire and Shaq can still dunk but not always, not over anyone, Kobe still flies but misses some dunks when covered). Playmakers passes are fun and doesn't give you any unfair advantage so I left them enabled, and so on, make your choices here and there to avoid the superdunkers moves.
Beyond that you really need to work your sliders: Off reb 0 Def Reb 100 (for both user and CPU) in order to avoid so many off reb. Game speed 36 (it isn't slow, try it out). Shotting around 35 for IS, FG, cos if not the FG% would be too high.
Blocks are OK, steals and interceptions take them to 25 and 20.
And the most important thing: Dunk vs Layups 5; Boundary FF 100, Physical Def 100. If not it would be too easy to get near the rim and attempt easy layups or dunks.
And... last but definitely not least: Dunk % 35 and Layup % 30, to avoid the players scoring each and every fuc*** layup and dunk no matter who is guarding them.

this game live 06 is so wacked out, i can go on and on about the problems with the gameplay, not to mention the messed up calls like the traveling, the charge gets called everytime inside the circle in the paint which is supposed to be just the opposite, the 3 seconds call when no one is even close to the paint, the bad spacing that makes players clog the lane which leads to countless turnovers.
this game has only been out 2 weeks and im sick of it already

you must just be shit. i have only ever seen one travel - and it was against the cpu. i rarely get called for charging, and the 3-second thing only happens to me when the cpu actually stays in the key for too long.

im sick of people hanging shit on this fucking game because theyre just too shit to learn to play it well

Game breaking bugs for some might not be an issue for others.
The fact that you only see travel once does not mean it doesnt happen a lot to other etc...

Some people play this game for dynasty, some for dunkfest and 3point
and other buy it primarily for multiplaying..

I can tell you for sure that it fails miserably in the multiplayer dept.
There are some fundamental things that sliders can not fix.

It is still a crappy game despite the fact that the dynasty is better,
and better graphic..

No you dont have to like 06 just because you like 05. The core gameplay
is completely different....
The same dribble and dunk move over the best defenders. that cheeze players used with dwayne wade and steve francis last year has now been
given to every player that can dunk.. Everyone is an unstoppable dunker now. Impossible to play defence.

No save stats for online game... The marv and steve Kerr calling Shaq Webber, calling Steve Nash Kobe bryant. Calling Malike Rose as Antwon walker... It happens every online play..... It like they never even tested the game online.

So get off your high horse dude and just say the parts of the game that matters to you are not buggy and you are satisfied. Dont deride other peopple that have legitimate beef with the game.

i guess i find it good then because all i do is play dynasty mode... i played one game online, and it sucked balls (it was basically korver vs. billups for 3's all time) so i havnt gone back...

and i dont work for ea... why would i? if its because im defending 06, well then i defend it because the only problems i have with the game, are ones that are my fault (such as backcourt violation when i pass to wrong person, and adjusted shots going out of court)

a) If you actually enjoy or like any elements of NBA Live 06, you're a "stupid fanboy"
b) If you play against the CPU, you're not actually playing or not worthy of an opinion

For a long time, I didn't have a good enough connection to play games online, and even now I don't really have the time or enthusiasm. Thus the appeal of the game for me is Dynasty mode and the game's AI. Frankly, I don't care for that label just because for me, the appeal of the game isn't online play. We all enjoy games differently and have our own opinions.

I admit, I probably defend EA Sports to a certain extent mainly because I know a couple of people on the production team and because I understand their position on some things. But make no mistake, I have my complaints about the game. I get nothing out of recommending the game to anyone. I'll give my honest opinion, but I won't say "buy the game". If someone's torn, I always recommend renting first. We all have different tastes, different ideals, different approaches.

I was in search of a reason behind the lack of thought behind EAs creation of the game in the basic areas. I cannot get an answer or expect one from them and I'm entirely frusterated. It feels rushed and careless whether you play CPU or Online the fact remains there are too many holes and exploits in this game. Its a winless argument I started for both views and as you can tell i came to this board to vent my frusterations...in the end this is the game they gave us and I have to live with it. I just expected more, or atleast didnt expect this bad.

i am member in 3 online leagues but with the german version you can not play online. thats ridiculous!
there is a trick how you can install this, but i am afraid this is not leagl.

just bought nba 2k6, pretty impressive. by far better then Live. I'm a EA person but cant ignore the difference in the games. I'll play Live too for 1 league but then its going into the trash.

I loved EA but ya know I"m not gonna be blind and nonobjective in the product that they put out. the minute everyone starts doing that we get products like this. Demand good products, dont settle for slop.

05 had its faults but was somewhat playable.. this game is f'n painful to play. Even if you are winning, you are losing cause it isnt fun at all. i dont get it, what went wrong here. how can they make new games so much worse. Is it all the gimmicks and "features" they try to put in that they forget about basics? man i dont know. i just know i love bball and i've had nearly all Lives.
